Without a shadow of a doubt, hands down the best EQ pedal ever seen or heard. So much shift to the tone of the guitar but that boost was just massive basically giving you a drive pedal as well at the pitch you want. Just epic love it.

It is the best. Sold mine years ago and looking to get that same model or this newer one. It makes your instrument incredibly versatile

Really wish you could connect boost with eq. I know why they didn’t offer that as an option?

I have one of the originals, its a keeper in my book, but the extras on the deluxe version is tempting.

Not as far as I can tell! There is always some noise with EQs once you hit the more extreme settings…but all up it seems pretty quiet to me!

I just bought this pedal...and returned it the next day. $349 is a rip-off IMHO. I kept my MXR EQ pedal. Basically does the same thing and cost $100. The Empress pedal likely has potential to sound better in the right hands, but in the hands of an average person (like me), it was very easy to make it sound bad. I tried. I made small adjustments as many suggest. I tried about 10 times on different settings. Almost every time, when I turned it off- the tone was fuller. I might be user error. I read many good reviews but the MXR sounds good to my ears. These pedals should be $100 pedals IMHO. For $349 I was expecting it to sound like...well, $349. Even the $2xx.00 Source Audio EQ2 sounded better to my ears. I liked the presets on it but it has a little digital noise so it too had to go. Being digital it also had tone suck. MXR offers some adjustability. I don't hear much noise or get as much tone suck despite being digital too. When turned off, it sounds good too so it's just about shaping tones.
EQ's are generally most useful after you MIX everything- NOT so much for just playing on one instrument- EQ'ing on the fly...which is how I generally will use it. I am also not a pro.
My suggestion- buy these top three (3) pedals from Amazon and simply try them. Keep the one that works best for you and your situation. In a mix, in the hands of someone smarter than me, maybe this pedal is as great as many say. For my more basic needs, and in the hands of a novice, it was disapointing at best and bad sounding in a few cases. Literally sounded better when turned off many times. It was probably my least favorite of the three pedals I mentioned. I was pleasantly suprised by the newer version of the MXR 10 band (silver) EQ. For $100 I might just keep it.
Sidenote TIP- DO buy a Peterson Strobo Tuner. I just did and WOW- never sounded better. I was never fully happy with my Snark. Tuning was always a little off- even after tuning up. Now it's literally perfect.

Unlike the MXR the EF ParaEQ is more a preamp than a basic para eq and with something like 30DB of clean boost and noise gating. It’s phenomenally flexible.
I get that for a lot of people it’s over kill and could be an issue in a live situation where simple is good.
But if you want to get deep into sculpting your sound, this is a great pedal.
Also a ParaEQ at the beginning of the effects chain and an graphic EQ at the bend of the effects chain

@@marcelchaloupka yeah, basically only other option with similar capabilites would be JHS colourbox, ading fuzz but missing low pass / high an low shelving filters. And that one is 500,-.
I just orered a mk2 lx and WILL use it live, albeit just to get rid of some bass an still have 3 (5?) bands for shaping. But it's not a per-sound thing, just some overall tone problem solving. So I don't nee Eq2's or EQ200's presets (might get a second one in the future for pre amp tho)
