  • The original JBL Pulse speakers are getting older, and now and then there are some that need a new battery after 5 or 6+ years of playing music.
    No need to throw them out. A new battery puts new life into the speaker!
    Watch me in this video how i do this for the very first time. If you are bored watching this, because you are eager to do this for yourself, you could use the fast forward button on this video, or just have it play when you replace your own battery in your Pulse speaker.
    I went online and searched for a JBL Pulse 1 battery, and i found one for around $20 US. The new battery has 3000mAh, and that is 1000mAh less power than the original battery with 4000mAh at 3.7V.
    The model i ordered was the CS-JMP100SL, that's the Model No you may want to Google for, if you want to replace with the same battery i used in my video.
    Watch this video carefully, and recognize the one issue i had, where i didn't align the one antenna on the bottom of the speaker. I did mark the time, and the detail in the video, that you don't make the same mistake as i did.
    Other than that, this is pretty straight forward, and after you've done this once, it will be a matter of maybe 30 minutes to replace the battery.
    Here a few numbers for this repair:
    Original battery - Desay Model No.: P763098 3.7V 4000mAh / 14.8Wh Lithium Polymer
    The replacement i used in this case: Cameron Sino Model No.: CS-JMP100SL Part No.: DS144112056 3.7VDC 3000mAh / 11.10Wh

    This is going to be the longest video i ever uploaded at this quality. If you can read this, it means that it worked. I took me an hour to record this. The camera recorded 20GB and my computer rendered the video all night until the compressed file was below 7GB. Let's hope you enjoy this video even more, considering all the work that went into this piece of art.
    You probably wonder why i write all this in my description here? Yes, it takes a while to upload this, because of the file size, and i am afraid my computer will go to sleep in the middle of this upload. That's why i am typing.
    Did you know that UA-cam allows 5000 characters in the description of a video at this point in time? Space also counts as one character. Right now here when i type the dot at the end of this sentence i typed already, or only 2576 characters. Feel free to count them, if you think this is not true.
    Because i have to work for a living, it is time for me to go, and the upload status right now shows that only 39% of this video has been uploaded...
    If any of you really read this, please leave a comment with #icanread that way i can see how many people are reading this.
    Here a few fun facts to know about my channel:
    Did you know that the attention span of my average user is only a little less than 2 minutes of watching my videos? Does that mean that 54 minutes of this video are for nothing? I sure hope not. If you ever have to change the battery in your JBL Pulse speaker, this video will give you valuable hints, and show you the way how to do it. Learn from my mistakes. At the end you can see that the speaker works again. No, that is not amazing, that is just skill, and a little bit of good luck. Believe it or not. If you break some part along the way, the most difficult thing will be to find a replacement part. That is always a hassle when trying to fix older electronics. And as you can see there is a lot of parts glued together. Separating them puts a strain on those parts, one has to be very careful when disassembling the speaker.
    Another fun fact of my channel:
    I do have plenty of videos that i uploaded over the last 10+ years. There are many videos that i uploaded for myself. Often i come back, and watch them again, because i forgot how to fix some stuff myself. As for the dog videos i post, i love to see my fallen heroes every once in a while. I like to remember them. Here on UA-cam they will live forever, and the way the world spins, i do think that even hundreds of years from now there will be people watching some of the videos, just to see how things were done, or how people lived at the time. Can you imagine if only ancient Rome had UA-cam at the time? You would be able to look back in history to see what was going on at the time. Even more hours spent behind the screen, watching fascinating stuff whenever you want. Storage technologies will get better and better, and UA-cam will be the collective memory of mankind in a few years from now. That is amazing, don't you think?
    Do you see, what i am trying to do? Yes, i am trying to max out on my 5000 characters for this description. I am at 4892 at this point.
    Not much more to say, except the weather. it is getting colder here in the mornings. Last letter here X .

    Just a heads up, some pointers.
    TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES
    1. You do not need to separate the rubber top from the circuit board, go deeper and pry out the circular circuit board (one with power button on it)
    2. (Where I messed up) Be SUPER gentle with pulling the ribbon cable that goes from the interior to the top circuit board. I accidentally broke the little ribbon cable clip and never recovered from this.
    3. You do not need to strip off the rubber face ( part with the battery level indicator and charging port). The unit will slide right out of the tube without removing the rubber face.
    4. I'm thinking if you have a hot air gun or high powered drier you can probably warm up the circuit board glue on the top circular board and simply stick it back.
    5. Before separating the two major plastic peices remember that theirs one tiny screw that joins the edges together. Even if you've done the top and bottom screws their's still one more right in the middle on the edge holding it together.
    Good luck! I failed but this is a great video and helped me a lot.

    Hey man I have a dead JBL Pulse that I beat to hell but I can't let go of the speaker for sentimental reasons, I hope you see this just so you can help me figure out what the issue is if the speaker is able to connect but gives a blinking red light, I have changed the battery multiple times on the device and opened it almost completely, but I'm afraid the red is water damage, please help out bro, not too many of these left 😅 (EDIT: The actual LED blink red when I connect my iPhone)

    mine charges but the lights that indicate how much charge it has does not work do you know what i can do to fix that? maybe it is just a connection inside of it that got loose ? have you ran into that issue? or maybe it needs a reset. is there way to reset these ?

    • @mygiguser
      @mygiguser  Рік тому

      no, i haven't had that issue. Usually the battery is bad when those charge indicator lights don't work. But you may be right with the loose cable inside, that could be a problem too. I got a brand new battery once, where a cable wasn't soldered right by the battery manufacturer. Everything is possible nowadays.

    • @Bluntedco.
      @Bluntedco. Рік тому

      @@mygiguser i actually just figured it out after taking it apart. i guess the cable that connects from those indicator lights all the way back to the board were cut and the only reason i see this happening is because it was bent and it curved around the main board and since i was probably always playing it full blast when i had got it back then it was slowly slicing apart. i did find it sliced but still needed a good 20% for it to completely rip off.. so now i know it works but it just does not show those indicator lights so i guess i just have to charge it and use it till it dies lol. unless i buy one of those cables and take it apart again and connect it. it is 10 prong maybe i will check them out on amazon later. Thanks for this vid! i was able to take it apart and put back together from your info.
