My assignment is due on 4/12/2023 & this video is absolutely incredible thank you for sharing it. I’ve spent 8 weeks in class & I didn’t understand from my teacher cuz they were explaining a different way & this is alot easier
Thank you Dr Hayley, I'm writing a leadership report for my MBA and this tutorial has done wonders. I made a few referencing errors on my first assignment (wrong referencing style) which pushed my grade to just below a distinction. Hopefully I will hit the target on this occasion. Many thanks
This was really helpful, thanks for taking your time to make this easy for us. You established a good line of communication with the audience, I show my appreciation by liking the video and subscribing to your channel. All the best for you Dr
Thank you Dr Stainton, having returned to education (40+) this was quite a daunting prospect but your video was absolutely fantastic and helped me to get my referencing spot and and hopefully get max marks.
40% of this video could be cut, it could be more concise and to the point tbh. Being unneccessarily quirky can really waste time for people here for answers.
I loved it. It definitely was straight to the point and answered frequently answered questions. However, you can create the video that you'll appreciate and i would save yours too under faster results playlist
Ha, your video was shared by our nice lecturer but didn't understand anything 😅thank God I found you in here. Good luck to me as this is the 5th video I'm watching.
Hi thank you and I actually used your website and paraphrased your work and referenced your website ,I wish I seen this video earlier because the reference had something missing according to how I should reference websites ,also I couple more websites i used I couldn’t find an author but now I’ve watched this I will click “about” for more information, thanks again doc
When in-text citing, if it's more than 2 authors, we've been taught to use "et al". However, in the Reference List, if it's more than 2 authors we must have the surnames and first initial of all the authors involved. This video seems to suggest that "et al" is fine to use in the Reference List, so I'm wondering which is correct?
Good day DR, how do I in text cite from article of the author who cited other authors? e.g Dr Haley is the author of the article who cited Dr Holmes, how do I go about it?
Quote, Unquote Harvard Referencing Guide says to use et al for the citation but to give all family names in the reference list. After all, if someone spent one year writing a book don't they deserve to have their name references, instead of et al?
Hi there, thanks for sharing the video. I have a question related to references online. If a document has been prepared by one person and uploaded by another, whom should I refer to? Is it the uploader or the actual author? Remember this is a reference for online source(s). Thank you
Hello Dr. Hayley, thank you very much for this! Very much appreciated. But I wonder how do you reference expert society guidelines, i.e. clinical practice guidelines? Such as that from ESC, or WHO? Thank you!
Hi Dr Stainton, In regards to where we get information from to reference is it best practice to use articles from within the country your Degree is awarded? For example I am currently in Paramedic Practice and throughout the world there are different variations on articles due to different approaches to certain medical emergencies. I feel like I am rambling on here.... However I think what i am trying to get across is that if I reference an article stating an approach from America or New Zealand that could be deemed as incorrect to UK procedures and protocol. I hope this makes some form of sense!? Thanks Lewis
When we are referencing do we include that reference on the same paper we do our essay on after every sentence we get from online/ book or can we just write on a separate paper a reference list ?
Thanks so much for this video, it makes referencing so easy. Will watch a few more times. How do you reference from an online source with no date shown?
For annotated bibliographies is it okay to manually put in references manually for both the bibliography and the references? Or does it have to link? Like how when you do an in text referencing. Also when writing the bibliography do you need to write in text referencing or is that a given because it's a summary of the book already?
Its so hard to automatically reference the bible. Its no place for the book, chapter and verse when adding the source. When placing it in-text it only gives author and year. I can edit it but when placing reference at the end it leaves out what i edit lol. So frustrating but i have to get it right
i am struggling to understand the difference between refferencing and bibliography, even if u explained i still need example on how to differenciate the two.
I’m pretty sure bibliography is a website you went on or a book but didn’t take any information from it. However you would still need to put it at the bottom of your writing to show you went onto it. A reference is going onto a website or book and taking some words and putting it into your writing. And then it will be at the bottom at the end of your writing to
Such a lovely video. BUT! The sound of marker writing when titles appear scratches me inside. It sounds like scratching a glass. Please remove the sound in the future. Sorry
I am struggling to reference government reports: quoting the report that contains footnotes for the original source involving several organisations who conducted the research for the government such as survey organisations and other government bodies within one single data analysis? Simply put, a quote that is published on a government website by a specific government organisation that uses data analysis from other several sources including survey companies and other government bodies. it is really long for in-text citation and no idea how to list it on the reference list! Please help my dissertation is due in 10 days! :(
AI is stealing everything anyway. And if you are writing off the top of your head I'm pretty sure that I own it, but apparently several other's online and off in hear and read my work and yes it aggravates the crap out of me. But everything you type in your phone or computer is being sucked in and immediately spit back out all chopped up and scattered but I know that it is my work duh but try and fight about it see what happens. You have to bes Doctor or scientist to get any type of recognition , trust me they take my shit too.

How do you reference a quote from a website
When we are referencing do we include that reference on the same paper we do our essay on after every sentence we get from online/ book or can we just write on a separate paper a reference list ?
I loved this video a lot. It made what in my mind is usually a terrifying aspect of research work, seem fun. Well done. I also learnt a lot.

This is brilliant! Everything I needed all in one place. Thanks so much.

You can structure it however best works for you!
Hi, is referencing from a "News paper article" done the same way a book is referenced?
Not quite the same, you need to include date of print and page number of a newspaper article
Hi Dr. How do i reference an corporate annual report?
Its so hard to automatically reference the bible. Its no place for the book, chapter and verse when adding the source. When placing it in-text it only gives author and year. I can edit it but when placing reference at the end it leaves out what i edit lol. So frustrating but i have to get it right

Ideally you should try to go back to the original source and reference that.
