Hunting fallow deer with a gundog and backstraps for lunch

- We headed out bush on a freezer fuller trip, looking for fallow deer on a friend's property in the Michaelgo, NSW region. We first got into hunting about 6 years ago and with no previous background, we had to rely on books and videos (like from AussieBushHarvest) to learn about it. With each hunt, there’s anyways something new to learn and we hope this video gives some insight into what hunting for meat is all about.
It’s been an incredibly challenging but rewarding experience to harvest our own meat and aside from the biltong we make, we mainly eat wild game. On this trip, we were lucky enough to get a young buck and a fawn which was some of the best meat we’ve ever eaten. I thought your hound was a liver nosed Rhodesian ridgeback. I’ve got one and he gets mistaken for a Vizsla until they see the ridge and how big he is. He’s about 50kg.
Great video and I love your biltong. I’ve only tasted real biltong like yours in South Africa and at a little butcher shop owned by South Africans in Bondi. Looking forward to my next order. 👏🏽👏🏽
