    I was a Jeffsy guy for 2 years but had to upgrade the brakes to Code for the Tweed Valley stuff. I can recommend Disco pads for value and quality. Re the bike, I’ve just changed to a Capra, but in all honesty, Jeff was plenty bike for those trails. Good vids man

      Thanks I appreciate it! Brakes could definitely be better. Ill check out those pads too. I went back to avid pads which helped.
      Due to change the bike early next year. Looking at Capra to but there so many in the running now🤔

    Nice especially as I'm watching this in the middle of winter.... Ah dry trails! Subbed!

      Thanks a lot! Subbed back, looks like a good guide for MTB in the Peak District.

      @@TheFlowingScotsman cheers matey. If you use Komoot, I've got shed loads of stuff on there! 'Jonathan - MTB Derbyshire' if you do 👍

    I run Guide RE's with sintered pads and 180mm rotors. The huge caliper helps with heat but I never use anything but sintered anymore, yeah more vibration and noiser, but absolutely bulletproof in classic scottish weather and essentially impossible to fade. I notice they do bite harder once hot but massively less variable than other compounds. On the decents where you need consistency they are just so dependable. Yeah having them last a full year with mud and slop included is great too.

      Thanks very much for that! I'll definitely check that out 👊🏻

      Been using Guide RE's for 6 months with sintered pads - absolutely excellent in wet weather - I don't care personally about a little squeal......actually helped warn some walker of my approach sometimes!

    Code RSC, or XT 4 pots. Both great upgrades, comes down to what 'bar feel' you prefer. I have both, no issue switching from 1 to the other. Looking to get to those trails in a couple years when we can all travel again!🤞👍

      Thanks for that Peter. I think my guide r brakes were showing their limits at Inners. New bike next year and looks like it'll have either of those depending on spec. Then I'll head back and try more of the trails around there.

    Great vid. thank you. I suggest cleaning the brakes and your disks would sort your issues..

      Thanks very much! Changed to Shimano since then and keeping on top of maintenance more and enjoying some silent braking.

    Aw naw. I've just bought 2 sets o Uberbikes Race Matrix pads for my RE's. Oh well. How gutted were you when you noticed the typo in the title? I've done the same in the past lol

    • @TheFlowingScotsman
      @TheFlowingScotsman  4 роки тому +1

      Try them out. I've used them on other trails with no problems in the past. These longer steeper descents may have been a factor when heating up but there was a bit of dust kicking up plus it had started to rain so maybe contamination on the rotors? And yes can't believe I didn't notice the typo before posting👨‍💻should have just called it Inners instead 😂

    Nice video bud. Been looking at Inners. Its pretty gnar. Gonna have to get up there this year. I ditched my Avids and went for Gorrila Pads ceramic, maybe not ideal for all day enduro but for trails there great. Also silent which we youtubers need. Keep it up dude. 🤙🤙

    • @TheFlowingScotsman
      @TheFlowingScotsman  4 роки тому +1

      Cheers mate👍🏻Ditched the uber bike pads as the longer steeper descents meant they heated up and began to howl a bit, maybe some dust/moisture contamination too? I'll check those pads out for later. Maybe I just need to brake less and death grip more?🤔 Good luck when you go👊🏻

    Uber pads shouldnt be problem
    Inners is local to me, ridden them for years with uber mateix pads, on code rsc and never had squeely breaks. If i do get a quick squeel its after wet and pads dry pretty quick at inners, usually half a run a d they are silent for rest of day. Id guess your pads were contaminated, or rotors were causing squeal. Good vid tho....👍

    • @TheFlowingScotsman
      @TheFlowingScotsman  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks that's appreciated! I think you were probably right about the pads being contaminated and possibly worn rotors..
      Finally got my new bike so looking forward to travel restrictions ending and trying out the new rig at Inners 👍🏻

      The first one almost caught me out as I overshot it a bit and the next ones were shorter. The one at the end of the straight needs a bit more commitment as it's blind and needs a bit more speed. Gopro unfortunately flattens things out a bit. You can roll them easily but if you want to try them watch someone first and judge their speed. They don't need much of a pull so with the right speed and a little pop you'll clear them no problem👍🏻

    I know you have Mega 290 now, but brake squeal is 9/10 times due to not bedding them in properly or contamination

    Good riding and very useful videos ! It would be great if could include the map of your ride - something like ‘relive’ - on the end of each video

      Thanks that's appreciated👍🏻
      I'll probably get back on Strava for future rides and link it with relive If they are still allowing that.
      Quite a lot of my older vlogs had links with Strava if you were looking for routes for those.

      Sorry just looking through the comments and my original reply couldn't have saved. It's a Sea sucker removable mount. Easy to put on and remove and keeps the bike steady. Best mount I've used.

    Nice video but what bike do you use?

    • @TheFlowingScotsman
      @TheFlowingScotsman  4 роки тому

      YT Jeffsey 27.5, 2018 Al base. Maybe needing the 'longer, lower and slacker' bike for these longer steeper trails?

      @@TheFlowingScotsman Great riding. Riding blind always difficult. I have used many enduro bikes around the tweed valley. The Privateer 161, Meta AM 29, Mega, Sight and now testing a steel FS which seems better than all of them on steep terrain. Keeping things single crown.

      Thanks man! I'm looking for a new bike in the new year. So many options now. Hardly a bad bike out there but need to spend wisely to last a few years.

      Can't believe how much inners has changed last time I rode there was the sda 2006 the trees have grown so much it's almost unrecognisable.

      I was off the bikes for years so missed that era unfortunately.
      I wonder if they'll ever clear parts of it like the did recently with Shredder at Ae Forest?
