SALTBURN, the ancestral family estate of the Catton Family is itself a major character in the film and Set Decorator Charlottee Dirickx SDSA and Production Designer Suzie Davies bring the estate to pulsing life.
Following the desire of Director Emerald Fennell to avoid the oft seen “rent a castle” locations, a true hereditary home was found with the installed family giving the décor/design duo incredible freedom in turning their home into SALTBURN. Roomfuls of furnishings became a prop house and ancient walls were painted and papered to reflect the Catton Family and interior tension of the storyline, which takes place in the early part of this century. Jan Pascale SDSA discuses with Dirickx and Davies about telling the cinematic story and creating the character of SALTBURN.
