I hope you enjoyed the video and there are some tips that you find useful when making your own buttercream. If you're looking for my vanilla cupcake recipe you can find it here ua-cam.com/video/otifsKKutLw/v-deo.html
Also: For the confectioner's sugar - sift then measure? Or, measure then sift? Also, try and purchase clear vanilla so the color of the ordinary vanilla won't discolor your buttercream.
Every youtube video claims to have the best buttercream ever and I like this channel the best because you get straight to the point and tell us exactly what to do. So I tried this tonight and, (having made buttercream for 25 years and being complimented on my own) I can safely say that this one absolutely knocked me OFF MY FEET!! OMGGGGG!!! I am RAVING about this Thank you so much for sharing. This really REALLY is perfect.
Hi, Thank you so much for your comment. This really has made my day. I am so glad you like the buttercream and I hope everyone you share it with likes it too. Thank you so much x x
Amazing recipe! If you're looking for a trick to make your buttercream look more white, a way to do this is to use an electric whisk and whisk the butter before you mix it.
I’m from the UK. I don’t like buttercream myself, but made cupcakes for my granddaughters 18th, and made this buttercream, well I now love buttercream, even though I say so myself, it was the best buttercream I’d ever tasted, stayed soft but kept its shape. Wow !!!! 😍
Hi Amanda, That is amazing and makes me so happy. I am so pleased you loved the recipe and it has changed how you feel about working with buttercream. Also happy 18th birthday to your granddaughter 🥰 x
Tried this for the first time today and it was lovely. Thank you for all the hits and tips as you went along. Just FYI to any other beginners, I reduced the icing sugar quantity (300g instead of 340g) just to make it slightly less sweet. I also used stork from a tub instead of butter and had no issues. Thank you again 💗
You are so welcome, thank you so much Meghan, it's fantastic to hear this has really helped you. That is the whole reason I make the tutorials and I am so just glad you are able to use them. x x
This recipe is good for beginners. I must say I started from american buttercream up until now. 👍 I use it on my cakes and cupcakes. I prefer american buttercream than meringue because, it will last for 2 weeks or 1 month inside the freezer.
Another great video, Lynz! I really needed this one. I have had a constant struggle with my buttercream being so dry it will not pipe well or it will not hold its shape! So, thank you...I am going to do a good long practice run tonight. One last thing.. please don't ever change the way you share your knowledge with us! I just love that you do not rush and you explain the how's and why's of everything you do. I always learn something from you. God bless...
Omg I just tried this recipe and it’s DELICIOUS! It’s perfect. I tried once more with another and it did not come out right. Thank you so much ❤️ your videos have been so helpful in my journey of hobby baking 🤗
About the butter, and using the sticks of butter instead of the tubs. This explains SO much, I just made my husband a birthday cake yesterday, and made buttercream for the first time. I used a tub, because that's all we had, but it wouldn't firm up at all. Thank you for such a well explained video!!
Hi Angie, you are so welcome. It is surprising the difference the type of butter you use can make to your buttercream, so I am so pleased that this helped explain it.
Real butter is only found in blocks. Not marge Not spread Not spreadable butter- in tubs and blended(I.e. diluted) with oil and/or water Not Stork Not anything else. It's called just "butter". And it's in a block. Or "stick" as the yanks say .
my friend's mum (who worked in a bakery) told me when i was doing food tech in school that when using food colouring and buttercream was to take out a small bit of the buttercream mixture and add the food colouring to that then add the coloured buttercream into the rest of the buttercream and it will blend better. it's a tip that i do everytime
I would just like to thank you for your video and for sharing your recipe. I have tried many times over the years to make buttercream especially for my childrens birthday cakes and failed but the main thing was they loved their cakes. I have used this recipe for my daughters sweet sixtheen this weekend and it is perfect🥰
Hi there! Just wanted to give you a huge THANK YOU! This recipe was perfect! I used it today after making what looked like wall plaster! I was able to color it in batches and it piped beautifully on my cupcakes! This will be my go-to recipe! Thanks again!
Made this recipe today and flavored it like Harry Potter Butterbeer.... OMG it was amazing! It's so silky smooth! This will be my go-to recipe from now on! Thanks for posting it!
I had to do a party for 100 guests (4 dozen cupcakes and 4 doz candy coated Popcorn) yesterday and this recipe was a life saver! It was so good and everyone loved it!😊 My first cupcakes didn't turn out and had to make a whole batch over again at the last minute and this was the best recipe!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining WHY you have to use particular ingredients and showing the differences between them. Definitely saved me some frustration, especially when I’ve followed a recipe to the letter. New subscriber 🙋🏻♀️
Thank you so much for the video! I will say I have learned of you beat the butter for a few minutes before adding the sugar it turns lighter and fluffy then add in sugar it will make it lighter
I live in a very hot country and I keep my butter in the fridge. Most of the time I feel my buttercream just ends up so soft so I always use a little bit of a firmer margarine, the block kind, and this helps so much. I ensure the butter is not overpowered by the margarine.
To add, now that I've finished the video. You answered all of the questions that I have! I've gone throu about 3 videos before I found yours, and I just want to say that, I appreciate you for making this well explained video! Thank you!
I am so glad all your questions were answered. I tried to include everything I could think of that people might want to know so I am so pleased it was useful x x

Thanks for sharing your expertise in all things 'buttercream'. I made your buttercream recipe for the first time recently and it was soooo yummy, sweet and smooth! Whilst mine did not look at professional as yours they still tasted delicious. Will have to keep making them until I perfect the swirls lol. Hoping your day is fabulous. Cheers Donna Z :)
Awesome... I want to start making/using buttercream to paint the cake... How long can i store the buttercream? Do I need to put it in the freezer or just put it in a chiller? Thank you
Thank you, great video, though wish you had mentioned how to store it and cover it, when you leave it to develop colour etc, I can see people just leaving the bowl hanging out and crusting up. Really loved how you explained to use block butter and how it shouldnt be melted. I love ABC, swiss merigne tastes like sweet butter to me YUK, and yes has to be salted butter!! Love your videos.
@@suewinters3662 thank you and yes, I do know that, but as this is intended as an updated instructional video, I think it could have been included. Just as you and I know to use block butter etc, there could be people who just think you leave it in the bowl on the counter.

Thank you for a great video as always. Would you please tell me how long cupcakes last with decoration, before they are consumed? I have been asked to make them for my friends birthday and wedding. Can I use a hand mixer with whisk. I want to try this out but afraid it won’t hold on the cake.

I use soya butter which is so firm but leaves a white finish! Would recommend
How does the soya butter taste in comparison to regular butter? Thanks
Wow...that tip about bar butter vs tub butter..was just what I wanted to learn. Things make sense now.
I appreciate the updated video.

It seems perfect, i am new to baking but I have always used elmlea whip double cream for icing. But never get stiff consistency as your buttercream.

When you sieve your icing sugar try pushing it round with a balloon whisk instead of a spoon, goes through much quicker and less sugar dust.
Brilliant

Omg please don’t use a tablespoon of flavouring if you’re using something like peppermint, rose, or almond. If you’re using vanilla knock yourself out, but any other flavouring start by adding a teaspoon and then add more if you want!!! Some flavourings are much stronger than others
You are correct. Those flavors will knock u out if a tablespoon is used. 😊
