You talked about getting stuff for FREE!! I've got a GREAT Karma story! A little more than 2 years ago I was driving through my neighborhood looking for ewaste on trash day. I saw a guy ahead of me loading up washer using a dolly that flattened and broke down for storage to move a washing machine closer to his truck. About 4 or 5 blocks later I see that same dolly sitting about 15 feet from the curb in the middle of a cul-de-sac, I knew it belonged to the guy loading the washer. (Btw, it was brand new and probably an easy $40 on Craigslist). So I started looking for the guy to return his dolly, it was the right thing to do. After 30 minutes I found him, he was really shocked and happy that I returned it. He asked me what kind of scrapper I was and I told him ewaste. So he said that he had a few extra pc motherboards at his storage unit and he'd like to give them to me for bringing his dolly back. When I got there he dragged out this huge box and said here you go. It was full of motherboards!! After getting home I counted over 75 motherboards with more than a dozen having the cpu's still in them and about 30 slot cards!! I was ecstatic to say the least! That was about 10 times what I found curbside for the previous 6 months! Since then I've hooked him up with steel, like water heaters and appliances, things I don't really want but he loves. Since then he's dropped off at my house more than 25 full pc's and some switches. Last weekend he texted me and I left some computer stuff in front of your door (he said it's not much). When I looked in the box all that was visable was 2 pc motherboards, after pulling those out I saw some slot cards & hard drive boards then I see a bunch of ram sticks & two cpu's with pins!!! In total I had 27 ram, 8 slot card, 5 hard drive boards, 2 cpu's & 2 mother boards!! All together I estimate that he's given me more than 150 mother boards, 90 slot cards, 120 ram, 25 cpu's and several dozen misc. switches, dvds, and other cuircut boards! All for returning his dolly!! It was one the best things I've done and pretty incredible what he's done! KARMA is GREAT!!!
Thanks for the video, I like your style and have learned a lot from you. Im still in the collecting phase and have a few buckets of fingers / chips and plugs saved up, my fume hood is ready to go when I need it later on but for now Im just accumulating material when I can. Like you my main interest is in the gold so I just pick off what I want with a air chisel and send everything else off for recycling because where I am the yards will take boards for recycling but pay nothing for them, looking forward to your leaching video. Cheers
Love the last ewaste scrap video. I'm looking forward to watching this. I seen I was the first view so I wanted to comment before I watched. Have a GREAT Day!!!
It's going to be a monster video to make and edit, and a long one to watch. The leach product has lots of steps involved in using it before getting back the gold. Still, it is a lot better than dissolving away 1000X the amount of base metals to get the gold plating off things. Not sure when the video will be ready. Going to take a while.
The oscillators have tiny motherboards in them with gold on them ;) But i yet have to find a way to get stuff out of its casing that would make it worthwhile, i mean, try open some ;)
Gravity is your Friend. If anything gives you trouble while opening it, just drop it on a hard driveway surface and let gravity do all the work. You can figure out later how it was supposed to be opened.
