Living in Toronto now means you are surviving or drowning. That feeling of running in one place sucks. Made the decision to buy a house in Calgary. Moving end of year, and I hope life becomes enjoyable again. Hope everyone makes the decision to leave for greener pastures where ever that might be for you.

I left Canada 4 days ago, will never look back. Spent 4 years studying & working in here. At first, they advertise themselves as a freedom country with plenty of opportunities for young people, especially for those who well-educated. Turns out, even if we follow their rules of game, they still discriminate us based on "Canadian Experience", as well as took a lot from us for taxes. I felt like I was living in Canada not as a human, but as a tax-payer

I heard that the only reason why Canadian experience matters to them is because they don't want to call non-Canadian phone numbers to check your references because they don't want to pay for those calls. But what if I worked for American companies all my life and all the numbers in my references start with +1 just like they do in Canada? Would they accept it?

I retired and hated the weather in the GTA and the cost of living is out of control. Moved to Mexico, much happier here.
Down here in Mexico a semi-furnished studio apartment in a smallish, very safe beach town is $560 per month. That includes all utilities, internet, and I even added into that cost Mexican healthcare insurance which covers regular doctors visits, hospital stays, surgeries, doctor prescribed medications and basic dental visits.

@Chris Hansen - HI Chris! You ask a good question. The short answer is "it depends". It would be like if someone asked "is living in the USA dangerous? Same thing!
If you live in some neighborhoods in Baltimore, South Side Chicago, East LA etc..., yes, it can be dangerous. However, if you live in Bar Harbor Maine or Martha's Vineyard, it is quite safe.
Mexico is a huge country. Some parts of the country are indeed quite dangerous, while other areas are very safe.

I heard on the news that Toronto is the most congested city in North America.
I was born here, and growing up in the 60's was wonderful. People were nice and friendly and helpful to each other.
    I now hate it!
My daughter and her husband and sons moved to nfld. They are so happy there. Hubby and I want to move there also, however my 90 year old mother is still here and I'm the only one to take care of her. My brother moved to BC years ago.
I'm so fed up with the premier and his rich developer friends try to build more and more housing out here where there are farms and green space, and alot of wildlife and marshes.
They keep bringing more people into our country and parking them mostly in Toronto, so between the construction everywhere and the over crowding, it's a nightmare.
I know I probably seem horrible to some people, but I've seen so much change in the 62 years that I've lived here, and it's NOT for the better.
There is so much wrong and in the wrong priority thanks to the people in power.
Anyway, enough of my ranting. I'm done!

It is interesting to see the rise in videos which speak to the difficulties of living in Canada, from a Canadian and immigrant's perspective. Hopefully things get better in the future. I do hold Canadian citizenship (by descent), and love the idea of moving to Canada, but the current reality of what is happening there now is making me turn down the idea (high rents/housing, low salaries, high cost of living, failing healthcare system).

It’s expensive, few jobs with low pay and on top of that it’s a very unfriendly city that has been invaded by third world country people that have very tight clicks and won’t allow anyone to enter so getting a job might be very hard.

I live in Mississauga I lived here in 2012 to 2016 and moved back , and I will say there is a very huge jump in expense in terms of rent and the lifestyle .
    (1) if you in the city or close is very expensive.
    (2) it is true there are alot of couch surfers and roommate situations happening.
    (3) Have a big family in Canada is bad idea because food and daily expenses can fluctuate according to the price of gas or stock market.
    (4) if you a first time car owner your premiums will be super high , people buy homes with basements to rent them to add income to help pay off for the same house - on the flip side mortgage payments can fluctuate according to the bank’s interest rate then you are screwed . A lot of people here are house poor .
    (5) the winters are much colder you WILL work more than two jobs.
    (6) you will work till you die , people lie on there resumes to get certain types of jobs.
    (7) When you move to toronto do not have an expensive belly or eat out a lot because it’s EXPENSIVE there was a food shortage in the grocery stores in September.
    (8) The crime rate has increased , there are alot more shootings.
    (9) Animals are treated and accepted in there clinics faster than you going to a hospital.
    (10) Be very wary what real estate agent or company you purchase a home or condo from because there are a lot of scammers .
    (11) This is the latest : if you can’t pay your bills / or you have large amounts of debt you have to apply for bankruptcy and design payments with the debt collector and then do a financial course.
    (12) UNFORTUNATELY they made self deletion legal here . Where is you think you can’t afford to live ( meaning you have no money or the means to make money because of a handicap or health issue) they have created that option . Just evil

I live in Melbourne AU, and lived in Toronto in 2017-2018. There's no way I could afford to live in Toronto now (I was working in Hospitality). Canada and Australia have the same issues (except pay in Australia is much better in the lower-mid range of work). The compounding inequality is a trait of late stage capitalism, largely due to when there's a high concentration of wealth in the older generation. When you pump up immigration and don't build enough houses, it creates artificial scarcity. It's a feature not a bug - they want people taking the full 30 years on their mortgages, so they have a tax base.
