Back when happy meal toys weren’t 100% of the time cheap activity books or puzzles or “collectible “ figures weee the only thing it dose is have you push a button for a cheep gimmick.
I feel really nostalgic for almost everyone of these, but the SpongeBob ones will always hold a special place in my heart, because my Grandma was a huge fan of the original SpongeBob back then and she had a couple of these on her window and she’d let me play with them whenever I was with her
I still have my squidward playing tennis somewhere and just got hit with a wave of nostalgia when my mom would take me every other Friday for “fry-day” and I would get a happy meal when I was really young. I didn’t even watch SpongeBob, I just loved squidward playing tennis and back when i was younger I saw him as a friend.
The Angry Birds Star Wars promotion pissed me off so much. Hasbro was making ABSW figures and I thought that Mcdonalds happy meal would make some too, but no. All we got was a dingy little biddy plastic bucket. It was during this moment of heartbreak that I learnt how truly unfair the world was.
Back in the 2000's, McDonald's toys were even cooler with Disney promotions happening regularly from 1996-2007. Man I had a major good S tier childhood being a late 90's kid

I remember getting the Mario kart toys right before we went camping and I remember playing it them there and I also remember wearing the hat while playing with them in my house’s hallway
15:42 knowing how big of a fan i am of the minions i remember having the phill jelly whistle toy out of all of this set, i remember not knowing what was the point of that Jerry toy
I owned a decent amount of those 2011 Pokemon. I remember going to McDonald's after my birthday that year with a friend. He got Pikachu and I got Tepig. I didn't have anything against Tepig, but I wanted Pikachu. I tried in vain to trade with my friend. My mom ended up running back into McDonald's to trade Tepig for Pikachu. Good times.
13:08 I remember asking asking the person at the register to specifically give me Bumblebee for whatever reason, as a little kid. And surprisingly, I got him.
I had a lot of Disney happy meal toys, like a talking nemo, squishy blob from treasure planet and poseable elastigirl. I also had a lot of Barbie, strawberry shortcake and hello kitty happy meal toys.
Ok now i feel god damn old. I do remember seeing some of these toys in ads but didnt have a single one, because i was already too old to be the target audience

I remember I had this picture of me wearing one of those Halloween bucket as a hat and it’s so iconic. I remember getting it for the first time so happy and excited and I loved it and I also used it for trick-or-treating for a few years.
That Yoda toy is really awesome and while I didn't have that one there was this kinder egg toy set called the magic school lessons and one toy I really wanted was the Genie. He was sat on a carpet inside a little transparent box and when you put a little plastic stick under the base he would float due to the magnet, which is such a cool gimmick for such a tiny toy. Old kinder egg toys could be so creative.

I remember when McDonald’s did a lot of toys with sound boxes in them to play a characters voice(like the minions one) and those were peak as hell and I remember I had my dad destroy a peanuts toy just to get a mini figure of snoopy

I’m not sure if this needs to be explained if a part 2 is made There’s these McDonalds toys of The Amazing World Of Gumball and you might be thinking. “Kay, I’ve seen the show and did not know there were toys, what’s so important about them?” Well, they (alongside the CN Website) give Gumball a Red and White letterman jacket and shoes (even though he never wears shoes in the show). Shockingly he never wears that outfit in the show ever, but why does he look good in it? I bet it’d be weird if you saw a nostalgic cartoon animal wearing a leather jacket………..oh wait-

Lol
Also didn't the happy meals have a code in them for Hoopa? Also primal Kyogre is peak.
Very much nostalgia
