Legendary play. Mrekl really did go from second-to-WhiteCat to best player really quickly, and he holds that title above his head. Big respect.
He has multiple 1.4k to 1.8k pp chokes, and even most of it is still well above 1000 pp with incredibly low misscount

If Merami didn't choke 1400pp at that time I wonder if there would have been an unnecessary PP rework due to the PP record gap being insanely high even though the play would have genuinely been worth 1400pp and no rework would have been necessary

5:00 this is what happened to whitecat and cookie too. Whitecat went from wanting to fight someone for #1 for like a year+ to literally giving up as soon as someone took his spot cause the game was not exciting and he wasn't nearly passionate for it anymore. Cookie is self-explanatory. Seems like the more dominate the player, the less they want to play. Just something you won't get until you're in the position yourself I guess.
Ken in the Smash Documentary said it the best. To them, it stops feeling like a game. It feels like a tedious job, and being the best is exhausting work, with the entire world out to beat you so that they can have a taste of that title.
But mrekk hasn't even remained inactive in the game since he took #1 spot. He's been active all this time, I guess he's the exception

mrekk has like reached the pinnacle of osu arts and became a master osuvator, i think it's safe to say that he's the best rn
When Akolibed was 200pp away from No.1 and mrekk was burnt out from OWC, he could've actually been taken down(I don't have a link but I remember when he tweeted that it's up to fate if he decided to start farming again). But of course that didn't happen and now mrekk's mental barrier is gone, letting him score 1.4ks daily/weekly
The craziest thing about this is that Ed made a video about it semi recently after it happened

even if mrekk disappeared no one can pass him on the leaderboard atleast for the next 2 years or so , and I can feel why he is bored cause no one is trying as hard as he does at least for the top 10 players many of them don't try that hard to surpass themselfs or some like whitecat and shigetora pretty amazing player just playing to enjoy the game rather than being competitive, so being the number #1 with no actual competition is quite boring, if only vaxei was still around mrekk bored feelings would have been certainly changed
