The thing is, Mrekk is what Cookiezie was, but Mrekk simply kept going and did try to set insane scores rather then relaxing more / focussing on just enjoying the game happening to do insane stuff at times while doing so.

Its honestly insane to me how mrekk is STILL better than the entirety of the world combined at osu Last year he was also better than the entire world but nowadays akolibed and lifeline became 1K PRINTERS just like 2021 mrekk and yet he is still standing DOMINANTLY at the top and whenever it feels like players are catching up he just dedicates himself to getting insane plays and gets like 400 RAW PP IN A DAY EVEN THOUGH HE'S AT 24KPP. The man is quite simply built differently Edit: Just checked and his peak gap was ~3745pp. Right now mrekk is basically still just as far ahead as WhiteCat was back in the peak of his reign as the gap between him and the current #2 is 3167pp.

I'm trying to think of a comparison to Mrekks dominance and can't. The first two things that come to mind are Wayne Gretzky absolutely dominating the world of hockey back in the mid 80's, and NiP in the early CS:GO days when they won 87 lan matches in a row. Mrekk is on an even higher level of dominance than either of them. Just imagine how much further ahead he would be if he hadn't had pc problems in 2018.

I’d grind for months at a time to get where they are then they would gain like 50-100 k rank in a week and be able to do much better plays than me.there have been a good amount of people that day I’m pretty low rank for how long I’ve played but I’m now starting to improve at a good rate after focusing less on comparing and playing just for fun and to try to set fun scores. Basically try not to compare yourself with others. If you know someone else who started playing the same time as you and is improving at a similar speed they may be good competition for you but don’t compete with players you can’t compete with or it will only drag you down
It's both encouraging and discouraging. You want to emulate their level of play and skills somehow, but once you realize how far away they are it seems pointless. The middle ground to this and the best you can do is just to have fun. Hopefully through that process, you might get closer to him in terms of skill than you originally thought was possible.

Back in the day we had Cookie/Shige, when he went away from the game, people said this. Now we have mrekk, and people are saying this, and in the future, years from now, we will have xXx_Random_Person_25_xXx settings 1.5K pp plays like it is nothing. It's a generational thing. To me, Shige was, is and will always be the Osu GOAT. What he achieved, not only in terms of pure raw skill but in repercusion in AND out of the game was just absurd. And it wasn't just a one time thing, he was the best in 2013, came back and dominated 2015-2018 and today, he's still top 25 without playing the most weighted PP maps. Not saying that he is better than mrekk, but the GOAT status, at least to me, isn't something that can be achieved if your only repercusion is withing your community. (What i mean by that is, lets look at League of Legends, there a lot of people that, altought they don't play league, they know who Faker is. Well I got into osu last year and before that the only osu player I could name was badeu. And I guess Louis Cyphre - not that he's known as a player anyway - because he's basically the reason I'm aware osu exists. I've definitely heard about cookiezi before but I wouldn't be able to connect a name to a game.
mrekk has 100 plays above 1k, 40( ish ) above 1.1k, 18 above 1.2k and three 1.3k's. most people don't have more than ten 1ks and if they're lucky a 1.1/1.2. this is truly inhuman

Back in the day we had Cookie/Shige, when he went away from the game, people said this. Now we have mrekk, and people are saying this, and in the future, years from now, we will have xXx_Random_Person_25_xXx settings 1.5K pp plays like it is nothing. It's a generational thing.
To me, Shige was, is and will always be the Osu GOAT. What he achieved, not only in terms of pure raw skill but in repercusion in AND out of the game was just absurd. And it wasn't just a one time thing, he was the best in 2013, came back and dominated 2015-2018 and today, he's still top 25 without playing the most weighted PP maps. Not saying that he is better than mrekk, but the GOAT status, at least to me, isn't something that can be achieved if your only repercusion is withing your community. (What i mean by that is, lets look at League of Legends, there a lot of people that, altought they don't play league, they know who Faker is. Same with Shige, a lot of people that have never opened OSU knew/know who Shige is)

Well I got into osu last year and before that the only osu player I could name was badeu. And I guess Louis Cyphre - not that he's known as a player anyway - because he's basically the reason I'm aware osu exists. I've definitely heard about cookiezi before but I wouldn't be able to connect a name to a game.
mrekk has 100 plays above 1k, 40( ish ) above 1.1k, 18 above 1.2k and three 1.3k's. most people don't have more than ten 1ks and if they're lucky a 1.1/1.2. this is truly inhuman

Same, that'd be an absolutely legendary achievement. I honestly believe that the only way mrekk can be surpassed is if he stops playing the game entirely, so lets hope that he doesnt completely lose motivation to play osu in the future.
