    It's something how you, and I trap beaver so much alike. I've been trapping for 55 years now, and learned so much in those years that's how all learn is experience. Great job as always buddy.

    At last! I've finaly solved nuisance beaver problem in my pond (I hope so). But only snares were effective. I caught 5 of them so far and there are no more signs of beavers activity. But I was also trying to catch them with footholds, drowning sets and castor mounds, and had nothing but misses. 7 (seven) misses in a row. Vintage Victor Jump traps#4, Duke#3 coilsprings and Victor #4 longsprings. All of them failed. Traps were fired and no catches. I counted holes and burrows ripped by these pests in the pond's levees. 48 holes made by 5 beavers!

    You may have covered this before but what do you do with the pelts? do the carcasses get used for anything? When I was in AK the carcasses made get bear bait and people with sled dogs loved them also. Thanks.

      I just sell them. They cut down a lot of vegetation that other birds and critter use for refuge and food.
