- Star Trucker is a game that gives us the keys to a truck, but not just any truck, this is a truck IIIINNN SSSPPAACCCEEEE! That's right, instead of wheels it's got rocket boosters and instead of some gaudy interior neon lighting it's got a gravity generator!
Our job is to pick up contracts out there in space where we collect some cargo, attach it to the truck and then take it where it needs to go! On the way we have to manage things like our fuel levels, the power we send to our systems and talking to people on our CB radio!
We start by fixing up some holes in our truck (not caused by me) which requires a little space-walk, something which is quite fun! Once they're all fixed our first delivery goes well, but then things take a bit of a downward turn.
We lose power to our interior gravity system, which makes all our stuff float about in the cab, and then once we've picked up our cargo we suffer a dramatic power failure! This is then sorted out but I take a slight shortcut through a debris field which doesn't go overly well and then we have an issue with the actual drop-off of our cargo!
But apart from all that, and some other minor issues like crashing into a delivery dock, everything goes really well.

Hop into the driver's seat of your rocket-powered big rig as you haul cargo, scavenge for salvage and interact with an eclectic cast of star-hopping truckers in this Americana-infused journey on the ultimate open road - space!
Cruise the hyper highways, taking on a variety of jobs such as fuel hungry long hauls and hazardous drop-offs to earn cash and unlock new content.
While on the open road use the fully voiced, interactive CB radio to get the latest gossip from fellow truckers, request docking permissions or send out an SOS.
Swing by auto-shops to upgrade and improve your truck systems, giving you access to exciting and potentially dangerous new areas.
With new trade routes open, take the opportunity to earn a little extra on the side from buying and selling small goods, or contraband at trading posts and stations along the way.
Keep your core systems online and gravity compensator running while managing the cab’s climate control and hull charge to prevent deterioration.
Juggle this alongside patching your hull and replacing components to avoid death… or even worse, the expense of a roadside recovery!
Use the galactic map to plan your journey and warp jumps, while keeping an eye on your fuel reserves and power levels.
Once your route is set, kick back, crank up the cab hi-fi and cruise to a selection of original songs covering starburst blues, galactic rock and asteroid infused americana. The open road is waiting!

I've now watched three playthroughs of this demo.
You'll be delighted to know yours was by far the most chaotic.

Penge, I thought a streamer like you with this game would miss multiple things and cause much damage. I was not disappointed 🤣But seriously it takes time, experience, and *aligning* your rig much much better (as well as learning to pay attention replace your batteries and drive *on* the space roads good buddy.) Free tip: if it's red it is dead and needs a new cell and/or needs to have the circuit breaker switched. Try replacing it when it is low and *not* dead. Maybe replace your depleted power cells allow the game to continue if you somehow survived. Again the ones with no energy bars on your display and are just a big black bar on your monitor are the ones out of power. The black rectangularly hard cases have cells. (But please never drive me anywhere! 😋)
In my defence the game didn't really introduce the idea of the batteries, it was a fun voyage of discovery working out where they were and how they worked! I mean yes this voyage of discovery did come about because we were hurtling out of control through space due to total system failure but that was part of the journey, right?
Was very entertaining to watch. demo definitely doesn't explain stuff well, but that reason for a demo.

So, going back into the drop zone correctly should have been your first attempt, not your 37th. :P
Personally, I'm a big fan of your space hand-braking and sliding sideways and probably causing all sorts of traffic accidents, but... yeah. Maybe go in the right way round.
Still, watching you "off-roading" through space in a big big truck was a blast and I thoroughly enjoyed it; laughing and smiling the whole way through. Especially when you continued to not pay any attention to your power levels and were left hurtling helplessly through space. Twice. I somehow get the feeling you won't be revisiting this one, but I'd definitely watch it if you do.

Okay.... you're right. You are not a very good space trucker. But you gave it a good old British try... and it was fun to watch too. I have had several truckers in my family and even rode along in one for about six months... getting to drive it with trailers on and everything. I really enjoyed it but the training cost quite a bit and I couldn't afford it at the time. So that was set aside. But it was a very fun six months. These days I don't drive at all because of my eyesight. Ah well... I've had a very adventurous life and can't complain. It's never been easy but it's been very adventurous. And the adventures continue....
Just to let you know.. "bear" is a trucker's slang term for a US State Trooper. It comes from the hat they wear, which looks like a "Smokey the Bear" hat... an advertising 'cartoon' mascot for the US Forest Service from August 9, 1944 to present day.
Why do i want to sing across the universe
In Space Trucking trivia, the rock group Deep Purple wrote a song called “Space Truckin’”. Also, there is a movie called Space Truckers made in 1996 starring Dennis Hopper. Thought that might interest some folks out there.
Dude. Enjoyed watching this until you thought "Drop Zone" = HL-M2 lol.
Well what is 'Drop Zone' supposed to mean?! I was so confused. Incidentally I went to check other UA-cam videos of the game after I'd finished and they all went to a 'drop Zone' with their cargo and it was all fine, the icon was doing the pinging thing and everything just like it was on ours!
Ahhh poor Penge, u did not drop the cargo in the correct drop zone lol. If u look at your objectives in the upper left corner it didn’t tick off the drop off the cargo at drop zone HL-M2 u missed the drop zone good buddy! But good try. LoL I loved this and hope u do a whole series on this one it was a ton of fun!!
It's interesting because after playing this I watched other UA-camrs doing the drop off and they had exactly the same marker as we did.
It said 'drop off', and the little diamond shape did a wibble occasionally to draw your attention to it, and they dropped their cargo off at the drop off point and it worked fine!
If that isn't the drop point, how am I supposed to find the drop off point when we have the entirety of space to look in?! Baffling!

@@TheGeekCupboardHaha! Perhaps it was your...irregular entry into the drop zone...that caused the problem...?? I've never played this game, and I'm certainly not an expert on space trucking games, but I think you're meant to enter through the drop zone in an length-wise way....?? Like all the other pickup/dropoff places??🤣🤣🤣 This was hilarious!! 🤣🤣🤣

hmm What are you supposed to drop off in the drop off zones, if not the cargo? Nah, this is on the game, not you. Also, well played (...) figuring out the batteries (also strange that the space truck doesn't have a warning when battery is low, but you do have those meters)

I had no interest in this game at all until I watched this video. Trucker sims are just not my thing. I'm pretty sure I would be just as bad, if not worse, than your run. But now I need to try it.
