MINI Cooper (Wing) Mirror Gasket Replacement ~ R50, R52 & R53.

In today's video, I replace both outside (wing) mirror gaskets on our 2004 MINI Cooper S. This applies to all first generation MINIs. Our cars do not have motorized folding mirrors. The electrical connection is for heat & position adjustment.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS on 41 years!! That’s wonderful.
I’m the original owner of a ‘02 Cooper S in the same color as the one you worked on. I haven’t had any problems with mirror gaskets yet, but about 10 years ago I noticed that the bolts holding the mirrors on were starting to rust. And that’s pretty crazy cause I’m in Texas, where nothing rusts. I think it was just the water that sits in the top of the bolt hole after washing. (I was twisting the mirrors out of position to help water drain out and that exposed the bolts) Anyway, I replaced three bolts on each mirror and used stainless steel bolts with anti-seize. No problems since! .
