Feels like they tried to compete with reFX Nexus, but they totally lost me with the 250 USD price tag. Nexus 4 is 249 USD with over 4000 presets included, & and there is an ocean of expansions available for every genre out there.
oh man, the plugin feels so old school. even on that crash hehe, but always respect a tool because we all achieved a level of music production somehow and we always keep moving forward. So if it wasn't for those same tools, good or not, we would not learn a thing and the truth is actually that :)
Yeah I've been reviewing quite a bit of "Advertised" plugins recently and all though they can be rough around the edges, They all try to separate themselves from everyone else. This makes for some really creative tools and they usually check their ego and price it to be more accessible to people.
Just FYI, I bought and installed the most recent version of this plugin (November 2024) and it routinely crashes REAPER. I ended up deleting it. If that's your DAW of choice I would recommend staying clear.
Noticed the Facebook advertisement for this VST(which in of itself, is a red flag.) Then...come to find out, that it's a $250 VST...now selling for $20. You couldn't PAY me $20 to use this rompler...
No, it's trash because it requires an internet connection not just to activate/register, but to use in general. That's a deal breaker for me and I wish I'd taken the time to more thoroughly research the vst before spending money on it.
I don’t think that makes it trash, just situational. More and more plug-ins are starting to use this method, as they have to check to make sure you’re paying the monthly subscription (Octane+) but I do agree that there should be some sort of “offline” option
@@SimulationBeats I think all software that requires an internet connection to use is trash because the consumer doesn't actually own anything. If Soundware goes out of business tomorrow, the Octane vst would be rendered useless. In contrast, if Inmusic Brands, owner of the Akai Pro brand, goes out of business tomorrow, MPCs owners would still be able to use their MPCs, both hardware and software, they just won't get any further updates. That said, I should have taken the time to thoroughly research the vst before giving Soundware any money.
@@jeremylawrence1987 🤔 So do I have to be online just to activate it or every time I start it up? And are you saying that once installed and activated, I can use the vst in it's full capacity while offline?
Just downloaded the whole thing for $40, "One time purchase". I guess the competition is affecting pricing. It seems all of the sudden, with the advent of the new iPad Pro with the M1 chip, there are dozens of AUv3 apps coming out every month. I still don't think subscriptions are a good idea. Developers are always expanding their sound libraries, and you can usually upgrade for free, or just for a few dollars.
Is that with the trance effect feature? Bc I used to always have that problem and I’d have to bounce the stem and then re time it so that it’s on beat.
Every time I even try installing this software it only says error every single time I have been trying since yesterday and everytime I try to load it it constantly keeps saying error, don’t even waste your money on this to anyone watching it doesn’t work and I’m contacting my bank for a refund now. Their “help” doesn’t even work anymore (says they stopped using it?), the support is horrible, and can’t find any way to contact them through email. I can’t even open the standalone???? The exe’s don’t work or anything?! Horrible plug-in do not buy.
i bought octane and when i try to open it in fl i get a error. idk what the problem is but i have never had this issue with a plugin. does anyone know a solution?
@@thecupcake7331 I got in contact with support and when i described my issue to them they literally just refunded me and told me that their team is working on it and when they fix it i can keep and use the plugin (For free) for the inconvenience
What is octane? A sample player? What is another competing app so we know how to judge it. It's hard to tell. Can you make the same sounds with Serum? Why did you say the expander could be pretty cool? How would you know something like that?
It’s like any other VST. Not like a sample player. Others like it are Scorch and Octave. You can create any sound in serum if you know what you’re doing, but these VSTs are meant to be beginner friendly. Don’t know that exact effect of an expander but it made it sound a lot wider
That's unfortunate to hear! It may not be the most desirable answer but if you find an arp you really like, you could try bouncing it to audio and stretching it to fit your track
if you go on the layers number 2 you can remove the piano sound
thanks for the preview
Always happy to 😄

octane some good sounds but keeps loosing tempo on the arp setting, very annoying.
