The Double is stellar. Quality hasn't gone down through the drama yet am loving it
Is it an "A" drama?? Cause the quality of the whole drama is fantastic. And dang the FL & ML is good! And despite their lack interaction i'm sooo loving and waiting to see them together. If only all idol drama has this kind of quality... lol i just really hope the quality won't drop in later episodes..
I completely agree! Love the main two leads and their characters! They have amazing chemistry!
Best thing about this is the dialogue and script of the drama. So many hidden innuendos in the words between ML and FL, that you have to think about and process what the true meaning is behind said words
I was really worried about how they would adapt the book, because this author is SO GOOD, but they are really doing justice to the feel / characters (obviously not following the events 100%, that’s impossible). Super happy with this drama

I am obsessed with The Double. I love the unique take on the revenge aspect in that one of the “villains” (ex hubby) is almost a sympathetic character and we are witnessing his descent into borderline madness - gives his character a lot of depth and complexities - while the other is a truly detestable person whom I am waiting with baited breath to see fall. All professional and capable actors. FL is a bit mature for this role (I’m over 30-40 somethings playing teenagers) but absolutely forgivable in the face of her talent. Her visibly shaking glares. Her crying scenes. So good!
But her character is supposed to be an adult. She had previously been married for years.
She´s more beautiful now than when she was a teen, and far better actress

The Double is such a great show. The plot is solid and there's not a single boring moment. My fav 2024 chinese show. Wang Xingyu and the fl are spectacular in their roles. Xingyu looks so damn handsome while I can't look away from the fl whenever she's onscreen.. she looks so ethereal and is made for these period shows. Their chemistry is so good even though they haven't had many scenes together yet. I hope this show wins awards.

Watched all the eps on The Double uploaded so far. Mesmerising and gripping plot. As of now, one of the best and intriguing cdramas of 2024. Not to mention, the sad and haunting ost which is so apt in this drama. Both ML and FL delivering stellar performances, esp in ep 11, during the qu qin competition, brought tears to my eyes. Hopefully, this drama will continue to soar to greater heights.

I think The Double is an incredible show. I really love that it's not another "swap faces" drama! The way they've done it, is much better. The actors are doing an awesome job. I've only seen a few episodes so far, but I'm looking forward to seeing the rest.

Thank you Marcus!.THE DOUBLE captivated me: it always surprises us with something new. Rhythm, action, good plot and multiple intrigues. In some moments it is a bit slow and detailed (an old custom in dramas of highlighting female suffering...). The suspense is very well dosed. The central couple are EXCELLENT actors, as well as some secondary characters. In order to rate it we have to see it in its entirety, but for NOW it deserves an 8 and I hope it doesn't decline because it's keeping us glued to the screen!!!!

I am very touched about the story involved You Benchang, the extraordinary 80 years old actor in Blossom Shangai (impossible to watch for me in Europe: I never will sign for netflix whatsoever... I am against this US channel ...) and the comment given by Hu Ge.... Hu Ge has spoken the truth, with admiration, with mindful words, with awe for the extraordinary personality, commitment and artistic knowledge showed by Hu Ge, not only in Blossom Shangai but in his entire carriere... Thank you Marcus, for having followed the story and given us this beautiful comment of the main lead actor of this (surely) masterpiece....

Currently watching the double and it is really worth it. Both the plot and chemistry between male and female lead is so good that I couldn’t skip a scene. Highly recommend to watch it!

WJY has not disappointed fans waiting to watch her for many years. WXY has always been so good anyway. The overall production is also good. Every episodes are so beautiful with depth to interpret. Hands for YZ who always not producing a normal series. Hope WJY comes back with more historical dramas. It suit her better than republic or modern day drama, especially with long hair. Her small figure is better in the historical dresses.

Thx for the update Marcus, The Double is a very addictive melodrama with quite exaggerated plots but WJY and WXY are killing it. Has lots of Princess Weiyoung vibes. Yu Zheng just can't help himself. 😅😆
Jin Yong is always my favorite so I am definitely looking forward to Legend of Heroes. Seems they will de-focus the story from Huang Rong and Guo Jing in this adaptation, which is an interesting approach. Let's see if it works.

I'm in love with "The Double"! Great series and very good actors. The story flows with situations created by the villains that don't take long to be resolved by the protagonists. I have to say,The Double is the best Cdrama so far this year. Every episode has me hooked. The story reminds me of Princess Wei Young. WJY is meang for historical dramas. It suits her more than modern dramas. Everything about the drama is amazing(story,cinematography,costumes,characters etc).

I’m glad Hidden Charm passed review. Legend of Heroes has been releasing stuff every day, so I also think it’s gearing towards release. Heroes DB rating was also released yesterday; an impressive 8.1; I gave it a 9. Was very happy with it. The Double is great; I’m really enjoying it and WXY is really nailing it not to mention his costumes and fans; I still can’t believe the actor is only 22 years old. His and FL’s characters have great chemistry in the few scenes I’ve seen them together. Can’t wait for them to officially join forces. Now that’s a power couple; both are extremely intelligent and his martial arts skills are awesome too. Think the DB score is a bit too low though. Thanks for the update.
Although seen to episode 6 FOR THE DOUBLE, the DOUBAN RATING IS TOO LOW.MY PERSONAL OPINION SHOULD BE 8.5

The double looks good but since I'm a binge watcher,I will have to wait for EP 40 to come out.
Enjoying The Double so far, there r some hints of feminsm, maybe since the protagonist is a woman. The pacing is good, the story is engaging, actors r good. Hope the quality continues, especially in the script part and be consistent until end.

Re the Magnolia debacle, what I really wish is that both actors could be nominated / selected for the final cut. They were equally excellent imo. I understand why if only one is to be chosen, they will choose the older actor who, it's implied, is moving off scene. However I believe in giving credit where it's due, regardless of age.

I love love love the double and i am such a big fan of the FL but i hateeeee the fact that the directors and writers try to convince us that she is the most beautiful woman in the whole city!
Yes, she is pretty and beautiful but her beauty is not extra ordinary for them to dim the lights on her face all the time and making it a point that we should understand she is the prettiest :|

the Double is very agreable in pacing, interesting in plot, and good in acting: for the moment, I am enjoying it nearly as much as Story of Kunning Palace.
Like SOKP, the opening douban rating seems a bit low, but, like SOKP, it should climb as the series airs....
Legend of heroes looks filled with good actors.
I started watching The Double as Wang Xing Yue was listed as the ML. WXY has presence despite his young age (still only 22 years old) & already has an impressive series of successful performances under his belt. The cast members of the projects he undertakes always seem to include a happy combination of equally talented actors of his own generation together with an array of "older" colleagues who have long proved their "acting" chops. The plot of the drama The Double is not strong on originality but does have some refreshing features eg the FL is seeking justice rather than mindless revenge; some of the characters who commit heinous acts are victims of circumstances rather than unexplainable greed & the evil doers will clearly pay for their crimes with time. It is always good to see that evil does not ultimately triumph! The Douban rating seems a bit on the low side. In my opinion, overall, the drama deserves a rating of around 7.5 (& a great deal more 4 star votes). The "predictability" of the plot is probably behind the relative scarcity of 5 star votes.
I am yet to watch The Double since I have not finished JOL 2. It will be in my watch list. I love thrilling dramas

The Double is a great drama and love to watch Wang Jin Yue. Wu Jin Yan is a good actress but find her role suits someone younger. In the drama she took the identity of a girl below the age of twenty but she looks thirty plus. Zhou Ye would have been more suitable for this role.
Agree with you on this week's top performing dramas. I think that opening rating for The Double is pretty good for that type of costume drama. Looking forward to Tale of Rose airing tomorrow.

Hi Marcus. I am watching The Double and was totally surprised by how good this show is so far. I must admit that I am so surprised by how complicated Wang Xingyu’s character is and he 😂so good at it. I must say with his beautiful face, I was not expecting how menacing he can be. I get my hopes up of some instant karma for several characters but it looks like I’m going to have to be patient! LOL I’m still watching The insect detective 2 series but sadly they put in about 2 full episodes that could have been wrapped up in half of one. It seems like filler. I think I might take a peek at The Shadow Hunters, if it’s too dark or circling script I will stop. Have a lovely weekend. JOY

I was worried I wouldn't have anything to good to watch after Joy of Life S2, but the double came along. Happy to see WJY on my screen again
The double se convertirá en el mayor éxito del año. Es un drama espectacular. Al principio encontré a la actriz protagonista un poco mayor para el rol, se supone tiene 20 años en el drama y ella tiene 33 en la vida real, pero a medida que vas viendo los capítulos, te das cuenta porque la eligieron. Ella es fantástica. Se mete en el papel y te hace vivirlo. Él como siempre bello y perfecto en sus actuaciones. Todos los actores en general son perfectos y la fotografía y la música también. Aquí nos encontramos con un buen director y me hace recordar al precioso Love Like a galaxy, pero aquí con más medios, se ve que es un drama con mucho presupuesto. Disfruto de cada capítulo porque todos son distintos y muy sobrecogedores 😂😂.

Initially I did not want to start watching double but since I had nothing to watch I started it and I was glued to it till I watched all 13 episodes in a go. I would recommend everyone to watch it
