You teach step by step which is much appreciated. But once we learn the full movement, do we just do that or are the initial movements always important?
This is a great question. In the beginning it’s best to break it down. Once you have learned it, you can do it all in one movement. However it is still critical to be very deliberate about the contraction/tightening, then to do the relaxation phase as slow and smooth as possible, and then a brief pause at rest between repetitions. If on any given day the movement feels difficult/clunky, break it down again until you can it smoothly. Breaking it down occasionally even after you have learned it is also a very useful practice.
Hi Colm, I found this link on Dr Ben's you tube channel and shared it to others too. Do you have any for shin splints, and other over used muscle that case pain or tension?
Great I wondered about all the varietations of Arch and Curls as I did do just this one several times, moving my head positions , pushing it down to the table, my elbow positions and more, I found more sensations in my body. I am amazed that doing them for shin-splints.
Hi Colm, thank you for these wonderful videos. I recently came across your channel and I have been trying some of them. When I do this exercise, my chest muscles, particularly on the left side, start tremoring and shaking during the release part. What could the reason for this be?
Hi Taryn, some tremoring on the release is quite normal. It indicates where we don't have good control of the muscles in question. Try the movement below, it will relax your chest muscles, and then retest this movement and see if it has improved. ua-cam.com/video/i3vZ6KNQDtI/v-deo.html
Inhale on the arch, exhale on the curl up. If the timing feels challenging just ensure you keep breathing throughout and that you aren’t holding your breath. Hope that helps.

Thnx! How is the breathing pattern with the movement, when do you have to inhale and exhale?
Inhale on the arch, exhale on the curl up. If the timing feels challenging just ensure you keep breathing throughout and that you aren’t holding your breath. Hope that helps.
