I remember the roller coaster road and it was hot and I probably enjoyed it but it was a different type of hike out there in the wide open spaces and it was many years ago so I’m grateful I got to go
Thanks so much for making this video. A group of us went there many years ago and it was the worst hike I’ve ever done. It was like a roller coaster. Anyway thanks again.
Truly out there. I'm one out of three with two fails on bike and I'm not getting any younger. Bring water and stash some along the way. Bring food and don't rush. Leave early. Tell someone where you are heading and when you should return. Ranger said he rescues people regularly. You don't have to summit to enjoy the views and it's not something you have your way with. Rest in the shade of bushes and you can make it.
Back, some 30 years ago, some friends and i scrambled up the slope from El Monte Park. and my dog managed to keep up with us. It was in early January, and there was a little snow on the brush.
Thanks! One of the advantages to San Diego county is that if you feel you are fit enough for this hike, you could do it year round (minus July/August because of the heat).
Great vid! Interesting seeing Villager Peak in the description. I made a mistake on that one about 20 years ago by not taking enough water. I think Rabbit Peak used to be considered the toughest peak on the Sierra Club 100 Peaks Section list where Villager was often used to camp out on to make it a two day trek but some just did it in one day.
People are knocking the white text, but I think it’s a fine color-if it were black, for example, it would blend with the dark green. The problem isn’t the white-it’s where it’s located. If you’d put it at the top, with the blue sky background, you’d be good! Thanks for the great video!
That's what's good about hiking, it gets people discussing all of this. Personally, I think Voyager Peak, and or Otay Mountain are much harder, but it's definitely subjective. Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks for watching! As for the text, the criticism is well-taken, some of you like it, some of you hate it, I get it. Timing wise, it usually takes me around four hours roundtrip, but I do run for parts of the downhills, so there is that. For many people it does take longer.
I tried twice and turned back out of fear. First time we didn't want to commit to the drop which is uphill going back. Second time I had an ebike and it was still gnarly. It's so steep traction is questionable. I cleaned rocks out of the line and it was totally doable. Sorry I turned back but I was alone. Cleaning rocks was tiring but it made it way safer.
Great video! I'm doing it next Wednesday! Both excited and nervous!

I’ve climbed San Jacinto,San Gorgonio, baldy and Whitney. This was more physically demanding than any of these! A real #%!
Lol, I hear you. I feel that it is deceptively difficult.

Oh no! I'd say I'm glad you enjoyed it, but apparently not. Still good job on hiking it!

Dang, that's crazy! Thanks for sharing!
I've hiked this a few times. You're video does a great job of outlining what expect.
Awesome, appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching!
Just did this hike, your video nailed it.
Awesome! Definitely a fun climb and thanks so much!
I just completed this on the weekend! I was blessed to have cool weather and not a lot of sun.
Great job!
Honestly, I think I will do on a rainy weekend!
Good luck!
nice.. my favorite is oak oasis. you can literally wander around and end up in barona
Thanks for sharing your hike, it makes me want to look at this peak for this next year. Love the views you shared from the top.

Used to be one of the places up thru the 80's you we're able to 4wheel up. The whole County shut down now. Can't 4x4 Any roads or trails now
Have to go out in Southeast County toward Jamul, Skyline Truck Trail, or out to Otay Mountain!
Very informative and well-filmed!
Thanks so much!
@@TheLastAdventurer Can't wait till hte next video!
wow im coming heer
Nice! Hope you enjoy it!
4000 ft gain, yikes
Lol, it's not that bad.

Second hardest. South Ridge is harder
Goat Peak is way more difficult. Just hiked it today

Great video, but the white text was a mistake. Very hard to read. I'm planning on doing this hike very soon. How long did it take you?

Unfortunately the script at the bottom is washed out in the video. Pretty distracting
Sorry about that, thanks for watching.
recently went on this hike without knowing the difficulty level and I am not in shape... destroyed me lol
Oh no! Hopefully you are ok, it can sneak up on you as it does have that "uphill both ways" component! ;)
Did ya finish?
Can you mtb on this trail?

How long is this hike? I am going this week and I need to know
You can expect to do at least 11 mi RT depending on where you park. Be sure to get an early start, it's getting hot out there. ;)
I've hiked El Cajon Mountain twice and Granite Mountain twice and I think Granite Mountain is slightly more difficult.
Everyone has a personal “toughest”, and that’s how it should be. Thanks for watching!
@@TheLastAdventurer it was my pleasure, I enjoyed your video and I agree with sentiment.
