I think the Hamptons is not like any other place, it has a certain history and charm, it is expensive but the old wealth that comprises it does not go towards exceptionalism or showoffness, rather it goes towards simple joyful peace and quiet but with the capability to go higher stakes when it comes to wanting to include something badly enough, be it a certain type of rarity, architectural building, special cuisine, you get the idea If you aren’t highly aware of the difference between a 5 million dollar violin vs a 50,000 dollar violin, you would also not likely be one to find the Hamptons worth its cost. But to those who call it home they can tell it’s not the same as other beach towns and they may be secluded jn knowing that, but that also is why they call the Hamptons home.
