Was guessing 11-2 before you shellshocked him with that serve. Great effort especially in the first part of the match. Simon really turned up the heat when it was 5-3, im sure that spin was ridiculous

hey man. (pls let tom read this) just wanted to say that my table tennis coach told me a bit about his career and the past. He told me, that when he lived and played in switzerland, he met you and you told him about table tennis daily. I was surprised! His name is Andreas Cipu and he is coaching in Germany, Frankfurt.

Simon obviously didn't play at 100% (perhaps at 60-70%) but you have to admit Dan has dramatically improved for the last years and you could see that in some points, Simon was really serious.
That's what hard training and often playing and training with pros does for you.

2:11 was brilliant!! When I receive THAT much heavy topspin, and I'm too late to block it, the only thing I feel comfortable doing is chopping. Because if I do a regular counterloop, 90% of the time, it's going out. But Gauzy, chose to wait for a later timing and sidespin loop the ball to get around the heavy topspin! I'm gonna have to remember to try this out at some point!
When the ball has really heavy spin it's often a good idea to wait until the ball is much lower than you would normally hit it, and then hit the ball coming from under it.
@@TheButterMinecart1 What kind of shot are you talking about? Counter loop, chop, sidespin counterloop? Obviously, blocking heavy spin should be early timing

Spin of dan makes the door open.
The last shot Simon did from under the table, was that not heavy top side spin? Why did it go flat down on Dan's bat like it was a bottom spin shot?
Dan's previous shot was mostly side spin. When Simon returned it, the actual point of contact is under the table and cannot be seen in the video, but viewing it at 0.25 speed, he could have hit it with side and backspin. I think that's the tricky part, because most people would expect side and top in the return shot
