The best thing was that they made this because the Dutch government decided to make videos for the youth too educate about our history. Lubach said: I can make videos, the government can't. they are boring old men. I will show you how too do it correct and then he made this banger

@1:25 The oldest known Dutch sentence: “Hebban olla vogala nestas hagunnan” (Have all birds started a nest). Written around 1100. 3:45 Aletta Jacobs, the first woman to enroll into a university education (1871), doctor and women’s rights activist. By the way, Lubach is also known for his ‘America first, The Netherlands second’ video.

"Hebban olla vogala nestas hagunnan" is actually no longer the oldest known written Dutch sentence. That honour now goes to "maltho thi afrio lito" (I declare [that] I free you, serf), which was written in a law book dating back to the 6th century AD.
There's also the (runic) "Bergakker inscription", dating back to the 5th century, but there's no consensus on whether it's written in Old Dutch (Old Low Franconian) or Old Frankish.

@@qwertyuiopzxcfgh how does Van Den Vos Reynaerde fits in this timeframe? I had to study this in school because its one of (or maybe the) oldest known writing in Dutch literature? It dates 1257 approximately. The other known sentences date further back but these where not full writings just really loose sentences?

@@Bogart401 There are some older works, but they're mostly partial bible translations, sidenotes, etc. _Van de Vos Reynaerde_ is one of the oldest surviving writings that can undeniably be classified as literature.
Interestingly enough, the writer identifies himself as "Willem die Madocke maecte" (William who made/wrote Madocke) in the first line of the book. This strongly suggests that _Van de Vos Reynaerde_ is not the first piece of literature written in Dutch. Only small references to Madocke survived, but there is a Welsh folk tale with a very similar name (Madoc, sometimes written as Madog).

I think Fresku was the perfect match for this, i was really surprised when i saw him with Arjen. It was made because the government releasing a flyer with mostly good things we did, were the youth reacted with, how about the darker things. They then offered videos, they called it audio visueel product (audio visual product, seems obvious).
Fresku used to be an rapper with not that serious lyrics, he switched up after going trough dark times, he's imo one of the better rappers in the Netherlands. Especially with bringing emotional lyrics.

In the Netherlands we have a saying Iemands dood is een andermans brood. Someone's death is someone else's bread. Unfortunately, it is true and history teaches us that.

    On the money!👌
    @06:57 I heard that before... George Santayana😁
One more from him: "History is a pack of lies about events that never happened told by people who weren't there. ..." (Bare in mind his era: 1863-1952)😉

I was in the studio at the show where this was aired for the first time and Frusku was in the audience. For some people it is difficult to accept the dark times of our history, but they are definately there…

No, that's not chewing tobacco, people! ;-)
Oh, and do you know Epic Rap Battles Of History? That's awesome!
Anyway, Lubach does go a bit far sometimes. Kids do get taught about slavery and such. I remember that in elementary school our teacher was very descriptive about what happened back then, and I'm 47 years old now. The teacher was a conservative old catholic dude and he too thought it was all awful.
Problem is that nowadays some people want extreme emphasis on it all, showing how bad all white people are, that we must be ashamed of our past and ourselves and then BLM comes around the corner, demanding money etc.
Many Dutch people push back against this all, sometimes denying things that they wouldn't have denied if they weren't pushed in a corner by the opposing group.
What I'm trying to say is that people should just have normal conversations with each other. Don't blame current people for things that have happened in the past, and don't act like a victim of what has happened hundreds of years ago. People on both sides shouldn't be racist, accept each other as a normal human being with ideas of their own. Indeed judge not by the color of the skin.
If your life is crap, it's not always automatically the fault of the other side. You can make things of your own life without shouting that you never have had a chance, but unfortunately in some cases people indeed don't get a good chance right away because companies have had problems before with people from a certain group.
For example: many migrants come here uneducated and therefore don't get much of a chance getting employed, especially if they don't speak the language very well and have a different working attitude. (Here in The Netherlands you have to work hard and fast.) Because of that, many of those migrants end up in bad areas of the city where they all live together, blaming Dutch society for their misery. Good guidance and education could have prevented this.
Their children and especially their grandchildren grow up in this bitterness and reject Dutch society. At school they often need to go on internship / training in some company where they quickly feel they're being discriminated if they don't follow orders correctly, and they cause all sorts of problems.
Of course not all people from that same group of migrants (same country of origin / religion etc) are the same. The problem is that when more integrated people from that group (who have more succesful, modern parents) try to get an internship at that same company that has had bad experiences with that group, then that company already will try to reject them or treat them like suspects rather than trainees. Such well integrated people might learn very harsh life lessons because of this and slowly will also get bad feelings about Dutch society and will feel like victims of discrimination etc. That would of course be very understandable, even though the people who discriminate against them often do have their reasons for it.
I myself sometimes have guided trainees and such who had a background that would suggest that they could cause trouble, but I stayed open-minded and friendly. Especially in one case that did miracles; that young man never had been treated fair and had a huge mistrust against Dutch adults. I did make a big change for him. He had 4 or 5 guides who had not been able to make him see things differently until then.

I grew up in a small village with mostly white people, there lived one Turkish family, and my best friend who was adopted from the Philippines. I knew him since i was young and i always tended to people from other countries, my first friend from highschool was from the Dominican Republic, and i highly agree, i learned much about them and always will learn about others, its just mutual respect, less distance between ethnic cultures and we just need to show more interest in other. People dont agree with all the turkish workers who came here for work, but yet we wouldn't be nothing without them..
