This is inevitable. I can understand your dilemma, however its important to note that supercell plans out the game two years in advance. Meaning they know what they want the game to be 2 years out at any given moment. With that being said it’s likely that they crafted some things for town hall 18 that made them realize the approaches they needed to take with town hall 17. In other words, town hall 17 needs to be a nice bridge for what is coming at town hall 18. While certain claims are backed with logical reasons and arguments for what players have access to, we have to remember that supercell isn’t thinking that way. They are thinking about the future of the game and how that impacts what you play with now. So while we might not like these changes, we will bear the fruits of their changes eventually. Itll take some getting used to.
i 100% agree with this. look i am not complaining about th17 I think it looks cool but they killed eagle. they should have kept its mechanism same as before with all the sounds and animation. eagle was the coolest defence in coc and they made it like a launcher

6:32 the animation they made perfectly shows how it couldve been done better, it shows it as a rapid fire throughout the entire base with a small cooldown. which wouldve made it more reasonable to get rid of the bomb after destroying it. It wouldve felt more rewarding to take down the most deadly defense in the base, but now it just feels like any other defense but with more health.

But they still did some damage and the giga bomb was deadly. Now there's nothing scary about raiding the centre of the base. Your arguments are that there is less main defences on the map, less hp, less range and no giga bomb poison. My arguments are: Theres 2 new main defences being the now seperated giga bomb and 2 fire spitters. This town hall does have less hp than seperated eagle and town hall but the 2 fire spitters counteract that hp loss. It has less range than the eagle sure but now a flame flinger can't snipe your town hall and the new town hall has no blind spot around it. The giga bomb poison has been merged into the weapon that now lobs 4 fiery balls of death that slow and poison enemies just like the giga bomb and on top of that the giga bomb as a trap still stuns enemy troops. Having the weapon deal poison damage and slow enemies along side the spell towers and the giga bomb would be very repetetive and boring and make attacking very slow. They merged the poison of the giga bomb, flames of giga inferno with the long range artilery weapon that is the eagle and gave us a long range artilery weapon that shoots more projectiles that poison and slow enemies. I think the merge is worth it.
I personally think the problem is them getting rid of the eagle, everything else is fine, fire spitters don’t really compensate for the loss especially since we are always getting some new updates like these to town halls every time. Obviously I’d still upgrade the town hall as it’s delusional to not and keep lower level weapons but I just don’t think the merge improved it at all and I’m glad they finally have some new weapons but I think doing this with something like mortars would’ve been better as they are relatively useless in higher town halls and fits the style of the weapon
A while back when it was still speculation that the eagle was murging with the TH ever since then I thought it was stupid af and i was really hoping that it wasn’t actually ever gonna come in game
A real murge would sum up the hitpoints and the damage of both defenses together. If you do the math the new defenses are weaker than its individuals defenses in TH15
Something you need to understand is how many buildings are in the base, when you attack, each building equates to a percentage for the attack, when they reach 100 buildings which they have gotten to that point, something has to be done in order to keep the balance if they wanna keep adding cool new things to the game, I personally think the whole merging thing is a really interesting way to solve that problem, but complaining about it and thinking it’s bad isn’t gonna do anything at all, it’s a game at the end of the day and things change, sometimes you just gotta deal with it and move on and enjoy the game you love.

Well let me ask you one thing, how many attacks do you do where u dont take eagle before it's activation, qc , sa blimp player know that mostly they won't be facing eagles and in attacks where they don't, the attack starts from the side of the eagle where u get to the dead zone relatively quick this th now is active at all times so isn't that great?
you do realize that this is because people deliberately target the eagle artillery. Thus the eagle artillery still changes the attacks as it’s a major focus point that’s like saying “the town hall is useless since it’s always destroyed!” Well of course it is, people target it since it’s strong.

Seems like you're recent player because you don't know the importance of Eagle artillery for all of us old players. Back in the day it was the one and only defense everyone liked,loved,feared all at the same time. We trusted when stuart said they're most likely merge them but he let us down .

first off, I'm not planning to go to Town Hall's Beyond 14, secondly Pro players had to force to do it because Champion stuff, thirdly you can just have the Giga bomb next to the town hall and maybe in the future will have the effects, and lastly you'll miss out of a lot of other stuff like troops defenses Etc. the thing is for me I just wanted to stay in town hall 14 because I like the colors but for players to always want to go to the next town hall you have to do it because you'll miss out a lot of things
The gigabomb can be put anywhere. The TH weapon shoots out projectiles that do DoT damage. Basically they took the gigabomb from townhall and put it in the weapon itself. The TH would no longer need to go down to do DoT damage anymore
I think we get to see the eagle artillery for decently long time and especially new players aren't going to reach Town Hall 17 for a bit so removing a function that's been around for a while and still is around for new players isn't that bad of a thing, it just makes gameplay at higher Town Halls different.
we have to remember that this is the first version of the eagle artillery on the th, so it will obviously be weaker, but we can hope that with more and more th that it grows to be stronger than the ea
Will the TH17 have numerous upgrades before it’s maxed? Or is it just a one and done? If it has multiple stages, or if they do add it in the future, they can adapt the eagles ability into the final stage of the TH17 defense, they probably will do that if there aren’t stages already.
the problem with eagle artillery is that it makes queen charge a necessity and it takes a lot of space. may be supercell doesn't want a single defense to be so powerful like eagle.
they should change it to shoot 1 fireball by 1 fireball but 4 times faster, would massively improve dps and poison would always be replaced to the correct position
It actually infact makes the townhall much weaker. And with the new spell, attacking is much easier now, the giga inferno is much stronger the artillery.
I don't even know where to start: 1. The giga bomb still exists, as a new trap. 2. The new fire spitters easily compensate the loss of the artillery. 3. Defenses get a lot stronger while troops do a bit, but they don't come close to the progress the base makes. To bring balance into this chaos of a strong base and weak troops, they had to remove a major defense or downgrade a few. They chose the eagle artillery. If they chose weaker defenses, there would still be a gap.
1 giga bomb is literally visible 2 there is always a new coming to coc like scatter shots, monolith and spell tower hence fire splitters are just addition to this not a game chager like egale and how the hell is this game defence are getting stronger in th 16 also only root rider dominate the game no defence. 1. Supercell is too greedy. They sell the feature that available in previus TH. Its not free giga bomb, And the traps dont have poisson effect, just short knockback. 2. I agree, and they have strong dps. But They're too expensive, u need 2 of them instead one. Its hurt for f2p players, u need build them asap after th17 finish construct before cwl begin. If u cant, ur defence is weaker than th16 3. I think revival spell is too powerfull, hopefully the supercell dont gave massive nerf like druid and root rider. We can see some skill gaps between normal players and veteran players. I think hard mode is needed for cwl master and above to compensate them. About Eagle, I think we cannot change because its supercell decision, so I have solution to bring back unlimited range for eagle to make sure everything balance : Beyond 12 tiles, TH can only fire one bullets. But if there any troops in inner th circle (12 tiles), the bullets focused to those troops, fire 4 bullets (same as before)
I think even if its just removed its a good thing cause at th16 the eagle barely have any huge impact Like for most of the attack if would just stay locked on the king, and the king has so much HP that it barely affects him

Wdym, there is a NEW key defence for TH 17: The one that shoots these bullets really fast AND (Bonus actually) the TH ITSELF. It's very simular to the eagle, but activates instantly, and has a poison area around the hits. And about the removement of the giga bomb: It's NOT removed, but made into a trap-ish thing, (it's visible) where is a certain amount of units are on top of it, it's be doing the damage the gigabomb did. (wtf is a motar)

yeah true but the inferno artillery anyway has enough range with the quick fire rate and poison effect. the two fire spitter will make up the lost range quite well, cus its basically a longer range air sweeper that shoots fire.

To all those who wish they would have kept the eagles mechanic on the town hall, remember that what makes a base hard to 3 star is that you have a town hall and an eagle, both tough defenses. But merging, while it could be stronger, it would be a lot easier to remove both at once, and get the three star real quick. You never mentioned how we got a new defense and how strong it’s piercing attack can be especially to things like archer queen walks and how the giga bomb being moved out of the town hall can create fear on attacking the middle or specific portion of the base I can understand your concern but I think the power of town hall 17 on defense will be just fine.

It would be perfectly fine, if Flame Flinger didn't exist. Flame Flinger outrange most of the defenses. Only the Mortars, X-Bows and Monolith can outrange it but X-Bows and Monolith are usually placed inside the walls of the base to protect other defenses, so you are left with Mortars to defend against Flame Flinger.
Only after 6 years of inactivity, I decided to check and upgrade my base again and I learn that THE EAGLE ARTILLERY IS REMOVED IN TH 17 ? I guess once I'll max th 16, I'm going to be inactive again...

Still hasn't released, but i think th17 is good, because many things felt the same in the last years (th laser, th poison, etc) and new mechanics can spice the game up again

At the moment it actually seems weaker, If so they probably are going to do sth about it eventually. The mechanic itself seems nice. Making all 4 mortars multi, and xbows shoot 2 targets wouldve been cool i think. But the firespitters seem great. To me only the new troop seems totally uncalled-for. We got archers and bowlers... For those who don't know why the people hate th17 Fact that they erase the eagle artillery, not a merge! That mortar on the town hall was so accurate. if they needed space they should've taken those instead. offense are already over powered and sc shouldnt be taken the most powerfull defense and basically deleted it all four motars make too much sense
They don't need space, they need balance between troops and the base. Removing the eagle is a bit sad, but given the circumstances, the perfect solution
I love how people put a cross on 2 new defenses, a stronger town hall weapon, the bomb still being here and often close to the town hall, new troop, defenses and hero levels just for a defense that always gets fireballed anyway I'm not saying the eagle is bad, but everything th17 offers is still better than it (I mean, if an entire new town hall isn't stronger than one defense, there's clearly a problem)
What they did was trade in the Strongest late game defence For 4 times the weakest late game defence. Either atleast put the bomb back Or make the weapon actually worth it
I think they thought of th17 having negative feedback hence this is the first update, should it really become easier then SC will be forced to rework the Townhall mechanic or beef up other defense's.

A while back when it was still speculation that the eagle was murging with the TH ever since then I thought it was stupid af and i was really hoping that it wasn’t actually ever gonna come in game
A real murge would sum up the hitpoints and the damage of both defenses together. If you do the math the new defenses are weaker than its individuals defenses in TH15

Something you need to understand is how many buildings are in the base, when you attack, each building equates to a percentage for the attack, when they reach 100 buildings which they have gotten to that point, something has to be done in order to keep the balance if they wanna keep adding cool new things to the game, I personally think the whole merging thing is a really interesting way to solve that problem, but complaining about it and thinking it’s bad isn’t gonna do anything at all, it’s a game at the end of the day and things change, sometimes you just gotta deal with it and move on and enjoy the game you love.

But they could have just merged the Mortars instead of the Eagle, that way we get rid of a bad defense while at the same time winning a lot more space.

@@byranttaylor1535 yes I agree, I know it may have come off as me defending the whole get rid of the artillery, it’s sad to see it go, and I feel like there are better ways to do the whole merge process, I see the mortars as a not so great defense in the game and they would be way better spent in the town hall, believe me I see how many possibilities they could take with the rest of the game as they progress, I just have no clue what they plan on doing as they continue to add more to the game, like hell we just got a new hero, what does that mean for the one we are gonna have to swap for it, I know what it’s like playing since the game ever came out, it’s been the longest staying app on my phone for as long as I can remember, I do think there could be something they can do to maybe make the town hall eagle more powerful so it keeps what we lost, I’m gonna miss hearing the activation of the eagle and the sounds of the blasts, I feel like they could have buffed it a lot more, I don’t quite understand why they felt the need to take the bomb out tho that will forever confuse me, but it all needs a buff

Well let me ask you one thing, how many attacks do you do where u dont take eagle before it's activation, qc , sa blimp player know that mostly they won't be facing eagles and in attacks where they don't, the attack starts from the side of the eagle where u get to the dead zone relatively quick this th now is active at all times so isn't that great?
you do realize that this is because people deliberately target the eagle artillery. Thus the eagle artillery still changes the attacks as it’s a major focus point

first off, I'm not planning to go to Town Hall's Beyond 14, secondly Pro players had to force to do it because Champion stuff, thirdly you can just have the Giga bomb next to the town hall and maybe in the future will have the effects, and lastly you'll miss out of a lot of other stuff like troops defenses Etc. the thing is for me I just wanted to stay in town hall 14 because I like the colors but for players to always want to go to the next town hall you have to do it because you'll miss out a lot of things
The gigabomb can be put anywhere. The TH weapon shoots out projectiles that do DoT damage. Basically they took the gigabomb from townhall and put it in the weapon itself. The TH would no longer need to go down to do DoT damage anymore

I think we get to see the eagle artillery for decently long time and especially new players aren't going to reach Town Hall 17 for a bit so removing a function that's been around for a while and still is around for new players isn't that bad of a thing, it just makes gameplay at higher Town Halls different.
we have to remember that this is the first version of the eagle artillery on the th, so it will obviously be weaker, but we can hope that with more and more th that it grows to be stronger than the ea

If it has multiple stages, or if they do add it in the future, they can adapt the eagles ability into the final stage of the TH17 defense, they probably will do that if there aren’t stages already.
the problem with eagle artillery is that it makes queen charge a necessity and it takes a lot of space. may be supercell doesn't want a single defense to be so powerful like eagle.
they should change it to shoot 1 fireball by 1 fireball but 4 times faster, would massively improve dps and poison would always be replaced to the correct position

I don't even know where to start:
1. The giga bomb still exists, as a new trap.
2. The new fire spitters easily compensate the loss of the artillery.
3. Defenses get a lot stronger while troops do a bit, but they don't come close to the progress the base makes. To bring balance into this chaos of a strong base and weak troops, they had to remove a major defense or downgrade a few. They chose the eagle artillery. If they chose weaker defenses, there would still be a gap.

2 there is always a new coming to coc like scatter shots, monolith and spell tower hence fire splitters are just addition to this not a game chager like egale and how the hell is this game defence are getting stronger in th 16 also only root rider dominate the game no defence. Was able to match the output, hence this make game a lot easy
1. Supercell is too greedy. They sell the feature that available in previus TH. Its not free giga bomb, And the traps dont have poisson effect, just short knockback.
2. I agree, and they have strong dps. But They're too expensive, u need 2 of them instead one. Its hurt for f2p players, u need build them asap after th17 finish construct before cwl begin. If u cant, ur defence is weaker than th16
3. I think revival spell is too powerfull, hopefully the supercell dont gave massive nerf like druid and root rider. We can see some skill gaps between normal players and veteran players. I think hard mode is needed for cwl master and above to compensate them.
About Eagle, I think we cannot change because its supercell decision, so I have solution to bring back unlimited range for eagle to make sure everything balance : Beyond 12 tiles, TH can only fire one bullets. But if there any troops in inner th circle (12 tiles), the bullets focused to those troops, fire 4 bullets (same as before)

Wdym, there is a NEW key defence for TH 17: The one that shoots these bullets really fast AND (Bonus actually) the TH ITSELF. It's very simular to the eagle, but activates instantly, and has a poison area around the hits. And about the removement of the giga bomb: It's NOT removed, but made into a trap-ish thing, (it's visible) where is a certain amount of units are on top of it, it's be doing the damage the gigabomb did. (wtf is a motar)

yeah true but the inferno artillery anyway has enough range with the quick fire rate and poison effect. the two fire spitter will make up the lost range quite well, cus its basically a longer range air sweeper that shoots fire.

To all those who wish they would have kept the eagles mechanic on the town hall, remember that what makes a base hard to 3 star is that you have a town hall and an eagle, both tough defenses. But merging, while it could be stronger, it would be a lot easier to remove both at once, and get the three star real quick.
In my opinion, they should have just not merged it, it made no sense to merge the one unique defense at the cost of competitive play.
And i think we can all agree that the mortors are useless nowadays, and would have been perfect to upgrade this townhall with

You never mentioned how we got a new defense and how strong it’s piercing attack can be especially to things like archer queen walks and how the giga bomb being moved out of the town hall can create fear on attacking the middle or specific portion of the base I can understand your concern but I think the power of town hall 17 on defense will be just fine.

It would be perfectly fine, if Flame Flinger didn't exist. Flame Flinger outrange most of the defenses. Only the Mortars, X-Bows and Monolith can outrange it but X-Bows and Monolith are usually placed inside the walls of the base to protect other defenses, so you are left with Mortars to defend against Flame Flinger.

Still hasn't released, but i think th17 is good, because many things felt the same in the last years (th laser, th poison, etc) and new mechanics can spice the game up again
yes its sad but its posible that in the future thet added a strong single defense like the monolith and i also agre that they should buff the th17 range, add explosion damage and increase just a little bit the damage

Making all 4 mortars multi, and xbows shoot 2 targets wouldve been cool i think. But the firespitters seem great. To me only the new troop seems totally uncalled-for. We got archers and bowlers... That mortar on the town hall was so accurate. if they needed space they should've taken those instead. offense are already over powered and sc shouldnt be taken the most powerfull defense and basically deleted it all four motars make too much sense
They don't need space, they need balance between troops and the base. Removing the eagle is a bit sad, but given the circumstances, the perfect solution

I love how people put a cross on 2 new defenses, a stronger town hall weapon, the bomb still being here and often close to the town hall, new troop, defenses and hero levels just for a defense that always gets fireballed anyway
I'm not saying the eagle is bad, but everything th17 offers is still better than it (I mean, if an entire new town hall isn't stronger than one defense, there's clearly a problem)
