Murder and mystery is my favourite genre of books as well! You can give James Patterson books a try, I was really hooked onto many of his books such as ‘Along came a spider’ and his series following a protagonist named Alex Cross!
Jenn, i’d really appreciate it if you do a university-related video where u discuss whether going to high ranked universities is important, whether the level of recognition of the degree matters and all that. Ive been having a hard time making these decisions myself and u r like one of the people that inspire me the most so i would love to hear ur thoughts 🙏🏻
Monthly favourites are my favourite uploads from you...please don't stop doing them. I especially love your book recommendations and get every single one you mention on audible.
You litreally radiate positive vibes, happy and energetic energy through my damn screen. Like how?? Your looking as beautiful as ever and you're forever glowing, I hope you remain this way and stay blessed. I love you so so so much xx
Searching is AMAZING. the story telling is sooooo on point. definitely a great example of how you don't need expensive equipment to tell a great story. and every little detail, the details where you think "huh, wonder why they showed us that" is perfectly wrapped up and explained in the end, but nothing was predictable or completely out of place
Every time I click a favourites video I sit down with pen & paper, ready to add a lot of stuff to my list because Jenn's recommendations are ALWAYS gold. ♥
Hello!! Yes, please do a review video! I feel the video would be more balanced, if you know what I mean, and we can also understand a different side of you.
If you’re getting into murder mystery I would highly recommend reading the queen of murder mystery, Agatha Christie! All of her books that I’ve read are pretty easy and quick reads but the plots can go an interesting turn. My personal favorite is “And Then There were None”! Hope you enjoy them 😀
I haven't read Gillian Flynn, but I would imagine that "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series might be something you'd like! I absolutely loved the suspense...it's a bit slower and more tedious but still a fantastic thriller series.
I'm 1000% for you doing reviews on things you liked or disliked. It's super helpful seeing people's monthly hits and misses, especially if something hyped didn't work for you so we get a more balanced opinion overall from all the content creators we see
Jenn, after I watched you and Weylie shopping for bullet journal supplies, I got SUPER sucked into bujo ~culture~ and started my own! I was wondering how yours is going? I hope you'll show us once you're ready! Love you! 💓 Also, the monthly review idea sounds great!
Mine bujo is SUPER minimal. I tried to do it all fancy and pretty, but I got a little impatient. LOL. So it's more of a functional and quick way to write down what I need to do. I'll show in a vlog. (:
@@imjennim Awesome, I can't wait! I've heard it's better to be minimal when you begin anyway because you need to get used to the system itself and find out what works best for your needs before trying to get too creative! Thanks for responding!
Your idea of including things that do no make it for your monthly faves cut is GREAT. To be able to share with us a substantial amount of monthly faves frequently do mean that you actually try out so many things in a month on top of your busy schedule. I've also always wondered about the amount of books/movies/drama series you had read/watched before finally finding THE ONE worth your time and everyone's time. Can't wait to see how you'll give your monthly favourites videos a twist hehe~
I love how bubbly you are Jenn, seeing you makes me so happy! You also seem to be into mental health, I love that so much. You're not 'that superficial beauty guru' that acts as if her life is all roses and sunshine. It's so nice and refreshing. Loved the video and yes I'd love to hear about things you didn't really like. ❤
Searching is one of my favorite movies overall not only because it’s a good suspense/thriller, but I enjoyed the fact that they didn’t have to highlight in the movie that they were an Asian-American family. The Asian-American actors were able to portray a regular American family in a talented way, no Asian stereotypes attached!
I'm not an Asian American but I agree with you about Searching, it felt less stereotypical and more real and just representation in a way that feels like it's been missing, and it's SO slept on! I had to convince my bf constantly before he agreed to go see it with me, he just assumed it'd be bad.
Jenn, we would LOVE your honesty. It's so rare for any vloggers to discuss the bad and disappointing- I'd love to hear your opinions. Such an inspiring vlog- I'll get me some Gillian Flynn. It's totally not a murder mystery, but Adam Gopnik's essays are WONDERFUL. I'm reading his book on on "Winter" and it's giving me an understanding and appreciation for the season I thought I hated. He just makes subjects fascinating and reminds me of the greatness of humanity.
never been this early so I'm scrambling for something to say - but I loved your therapist tea spilling video you did recently!! I've always felt a little guilty for wanting to seek out an asian american therapist just bc I was "also asian", but you really encouraged me to stop questioning myself and do what's best for my mental health. I value your advice so much, lovely favourites video as always!! ♡
Yes, reviews would be great! I LOVE that you include thoughts on books, films, and television in your videos. The beauty, fashion, and lifestyle elements are great, but I also just love how you share your intellectual and cultural side too!!
I saw Searching too!! It deserved a lot more praise, it was so amazingly filmed too! My favorite thing from the past month is that Limetown the podcast came back. And yes!! I love reviews more than favorites tbh.
Jen I really appreciate that you add the book reviews in your monthly favorites video. It’s something that sets you apart from most makeup gurus and not only that* they are so interesting 💜
I love how you described the Stunna Lip Paint in “Unveil” as a chocolate brown on YOU rather than assuming that it would appear that way on EVERYONE. Inclusive language is important and even little statements like that help!!!
Yes!! I think reviews is a great idea!! I'd love to know what are products that might not have worked as well for you or books that weren't that interesting and ultimately, I think viewers can decide for themselves whether they want to try / read it or not. I nice to have a more varied opinion in the video!
Even if it's 1:40 am here and I have to wake up soon in the morning then, I MUST watch Jenn's new video. Thank you to have made my night 💖 love from Italy
I also started using the Then I Met You line because I saw Michelle Phan rave about. My skin has definitely changed for the better since I've started using the combo!
Pleeeaaaase keep doing monthly faves! I take them so seriously in terms of reading and media recommendations! 😭❤️ I love hearing your thoughts and all of the different kinds of things I should check out, please keep them coming!
Omg yes to ‘Searching’ - saw it at the New Zealand film festival in August and it was SO GOOD. I’d try ‘The Guilty’ which is a Danish thriller which will also have you at the edge of your seat!
I really like your favourites, I started watching for the beauty/fashion but have grown to actually mainly watch for your tv/book recommendations because I feel like we have similar tastes!
I don't know, I actually really enjoy favorites videos because I know that they're going to be undeniably positive. I like watching them when I need a positivity fix.
For books i recommend The secret history from Donna Tartt and Ragdoll from Daniel Cole. I love gillian books too so i hope you will like the ones i recommended. Have a great week-end.
Gillian Flynn is one of my favorite authors so I gotta give you some recommendation! Megan Abbott, she writes beautiful fleshed out female characters and complex female relationships, I'd say her books are more on the thriller side. Stolen: A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher is one of my favorite novels! Its such a haunting story about a girl who gets kidnapped and the relationship she develops with her captor!
Hi Jenn! Thank you for the video! I have been looking forward it so long! It can also be very helpful if you can put up a list of what you are wearing in the video (makeup/accessories/outfit... ).
Searching is out on digital streaming on Tuesday! Been waiting for it to re-watch it again. I agree with you, searching was an experience and something people need to see to believe.
I’d also love to see the idea you mentioned at the end of the video!!! I think it’d be really interesting to see different opinions about ALL the products you tried in a month rather than just mentioning things you enjoy. I’m excited to see what you have in store!!!
Sounds like a good plan! Remember it's your channel and your creative content. You can make whatever kind of videos that you'd like and we'd still be here watching them! 😘💜
yesss I love your comment about the searching!! This is also why I love to all the boys I've loved before because it shows that asian americans have the same experiences and others and we are not stereotyped!
Since you like Gillian Flynn I think you would also enoy Tess Gerritsen! She's most known for her Rizzoli & Isles series and the first book in it is The Surgeon. I've read eight of them so far and loved every single one. They are fast paced, twisty turny and very gripping.
Hi Jenn! I would definitely recommend watching ROMA when it comes on Netflix next month! It's such a beautiful movie and you'll end up crying like a baby !
Love this hair color ! It seems like a deeper brown. I think you should keep with the favorites video and add what I didn’t like that month as a separate one when you feel like it !
I think incorporating all of your opinions from the month is a fantastic idea! Also this is not necessarily a murder/thriller recommendation, but in case you haven't heard Murakami came out with a new book this year! It's called "Killing Commendatore" if you have a chance to read I'd recommend it, I'm still working through it but so far I'm fully enjoying it :)
You should read the Talented Mr. Ripley series by Patricia highsmith... such well-written, engaging, suspenseful thrillers that have you rooting for the “bad guy” and maybe even seeing some of those traits in yourself. Incredible prose and plotting.
YES VERY MUCH on the reviews instead of favorites!!! And absolutely agree how underrated Searching is!! It's SO GOOD I'm glad I watched it in the movies
I wanted to like Maniac from the second I saw the trailer, I enjoy the concept but for me the execution just craaaawls. However, I cannot describe how much I loved Searching. I saw it twice in theatres.
Jenn I absolutely love this makeup look!! Please do a video on this makeup tutorial sometime and we love you!! Also definitely agree with your comments regarding searching.
I recommend Karin Slaughter!!!! She has a ton of books and they are extremely twisted...I recently read Pretty Girls and it was insane. The Good Daughter is also very popular. Happy readings ☺️
Jenn! I highly recommend the show Forever on Amazon Prime! It was co-created by Alan Yang and stars Mia Rudolph and Fred Armisen. I think you would really get into it! I’m not going to spoil anything but episode 6 is specifically amazing (I’ll leave it at that 😉) one of my favorite things I’ve seen this year for sure!
I would personally enjoying review style videos for the future! Especially when it comes to makeup for me, I like to hear other’s opinions so that I feel more grounded in my choices because they can get rather expensive. You rock Jenn! I recently watched your Therapy video too and I enjoyed it so much!😄 you always have fantastic and informative videos!
I definitely recommend Keigo Higashino's books! He's a Japanese author but many of his works have been translated to English. My favourites are from the Detective Galileo series (e.g. The Devotion of Suspect X). Definitely my go-to author for murder mysteries.
Hi Jenn, I would definitely be interested in knowing your thoughts on lackluster products. You're probably one of the only youtubers whose favorites videos I find genuinely interesting. With you, I find myself being introduced to new products that I never would have heard otherwise. Please continue to create interesting content. I found your recent video on therapy to be very informative. Happy holidays!
i've been watching your videos since the beginning and i love you jen T________T you inspire me because you're able to talk about your weaknesses and how you've grown (i loveeeed your therapist bideo). i've always been insecure about talking to others about my anxiety and depression but it's so amazing to see you cover those topics and wanting to help others. You're soo strong. 고마워요언니ㅠㅠ
Do a video on the mothership palette! We have similar eyes and I’m always interested in learning others techniques. And I love your favorites video!!! You always have the best suggestions and yes to adding reviews!
I think you had it right the first time! it's a hard g, I remember her saying so in an interview. I had the exact same "I need more of this!" feeling as soon as I was done with her books and Megan Abbott did it for me. She writes thrillers that also deals with a lot of the same themes as Flynn--femininity and small towns... I'd recommend starting with You Will Know Me, Dare Me or The End of Everything, they'll satisfy those crime cravings for sure :)
i agree with you (near end of video) i can barely come up with products that i think i really like even after half a year or several months! even if i had enough money to buy so many products, i probably would like the same things every month! having a good number of fresh and new wonderful finds every month sounds unrealistic, too bothersome/difficult and kind of encourages too much shopping lol. idk how beauty gurus do it lol
I really like the idea of the monthly review, that way it's not always picture perfect😊 I'm already looking forward to your next videos, especially the bullet journal one!! Ly
Yes!! Reviews of the month sounds really fun💓 do it please! Reason why i loved ur favourites so much, is coz I discover new products through ur favourites, and I end up purchasing/reading/watching it, and absolutely loving them☺️
Just landed back in LA and wanted to serve you guys a fresh dish of favorites! Let me know what your faves were this month!
Jenn Im Matching your hotel room 😋😍✨
Jenn Im glad that i found someone who knows the movie searching ! its a rlly great movie n maybe i should watch maniac too ! :)
Laneige water sleeping mask and cushion bb cream are the best!
Murder and mystery is my favourite genre of books as well! You can give James Patterson books a try, I was really hooked onto many of his books such as ‘Along came a spider’ and his series following a protagonist named Alex Cross!

Same! (gold and expensive tho for a broke ass student hahah)

Sure!!

THANK YOU FOR SNAPPING ON THE MOVIE. It needed to be said and I’m so glad that you did.
Oh ! I love "the murder of Roger Ackroyd" by Agatha Christie. Great murder mystery and such an easy read ♥️ and loved your video, as usual 🤗
A review video monthly would be great!!
I haven't read Gillian Flynn, but I would imagine that "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series might be something you'd like! I absolutely loved the suspense...it's a bit slower and more tedious but still a fantastic thriller series.
OOoo, I might try that book again. I started it in high school, but couldn't get sucked in. I wanna give it another try now that I'm older.
@@imjennim The first book of the dragon girl series isn't the best, but you'll fall in love with it once you get onto the rest
