Unfortunately, American politics is not a Darwinian struggle. Like the free market theory, a Darwinian battle needs a set of assumptions. If master groups control and determine the winners, it is not a struggle. It leads to a mediocre society. Regarding what Hong Kong can do, your opportunities are just outside your windows; China in your backyard is your future. Looking East and speaking Putonghua is a necessary step..
Very unfortunate the moderator did not push further on the many points Prof Kishore has elucidated (if one noticed, he appeared to go thru the points or the talking point) .. it would have been more remarkable if this interview is done by Assoc Prof Brian Wong who has a primordial style to extract the best of the interviewed person …. HK needs to go into the “lion’s dens” … nothing in the periphery… + above all the interviewer seems to be in a rush with his questions to Prof KM trying to go nowhere … 😂
Could have spent more time on HK. How HK should reorientate itself within China and outside China? Unlike SG,it can deal with other gov directly, you have to go thru Beijing. Like what Kishore said get some good diplomats to sell HK.
Simply put, with a population of 7 million, Hong Kong should focus on its own role and what it can and should do, rather than trying to address the issues of the entire 8 billion. Viewing things through the lens of “yellow,” “blue,” or any other color is misguided, impractical, and ultimately meaningless.
I mean as a HKer... my thought is, why are we always asking questions, relying on others to give us answers? That's why we don't have any talents in politics because we always rely on other great minds to spoonfeed us, I mean what chance do we have if we remain this way? STEP UP guys! Think for ourselves, find the answers ourselves, and STOP PLAYING VICTIM! Own it!!!

I wish I went back to hellp HK... cos it is people like him.. manipulating the English language to send those kind of perception across the world.... So, they have been plotting with the North... as part of BRICS ?... And you think that does not alienate Japan, or South Korea... who is quite close to the older chinese as well ? When you see individuals from Fuijian.. runs off into Malaysia... and also Singapore as well.. and manipulating the laws... and whatever... and forcing illegal situation to occur... Do you not think that is quite badly done ?.... What happened with Russia should NEVER have happened.. .and you can see that Singapore had a foot in this. Same as Malaysia as well. Both region had actual British investments in them. BP has oil in Malaysia... and in SG... what he is saying is actually very very sanctimonious.... absolute trash can. When you see HSBC being manipulated and dominated by many an actual Pakistani and Indian management... you know that something is wrong here... Very wrong. And all of those so called accountancy firms as well.. across Europe... as well as into Pakistan... all dominated by Mazar. While the likes of PWC falls over.. and yet, Mazar doesn't ? It isolates itself ? Why ?? So India and Pakistan is wanting a foot in the door blocking the Middle Eastern situation and indirectly forcing the UK to kowtow as well ?..... Wow indeed... And now the rise of Nazism is on the go here in Europe as well... And yet, so many ignorant HK citizens have rushed to the UK, even when Europe is at war. THIS is the indirect effect of the actions in SE Asia... forcing situations to happen in the European areas !

Talk is cheap, in especially when one small nation is tilted to the West, amid that HK will flow to volatility , the backing of China, and the influence of value will prevail and take HK out of the wood. When One economy is dependent on 'taxes economies' let's see if the tilt to the West shall pay off after many Asian Nations are now finding footing with China growth, continually.
Hong Kong wants to do business with all countries in the world. Hong Kong is one of the very few places where the US scores a trade surplus. And a big one. It's the countries which have been imbued with overt or covert agenda, that want to take China down, using HK as a leverage.

Hong Kong leaders educated in the West and well-articulated, unfortunately, still in love with their old colonial master, while those appointed by China are, unfortunately, not articulate in English. Debating with the sinophobic and racist media in the US and UK is pointless-they have an agenda. Hong Kong should leverage a powerful tool like TikTok, viewed by millions of young people in the West, to change the perception of HK. TikTok has helped shift perceptions of Palestinians and garnered global support.
As of today, the stock market rebounds and there are so many funds from overseas coming in. These monies speak for themselves.
Don't make me puke.
Hong kong only got administrator not political leader sadly
Very unfortunate the moderator did not push further on the many points Prof Kishore has elucidated (if one noticed, he appeared to go thru the points or the talking point) .. it would have been more remarkable if this interview is done by Assoc Prof Brian Wong who has a primordial style to extract the best of the interviewed person …. HK needs to go into the “lion’s dens” … nothing in the periphery… + above all the interviewer seems to be in a rush with his questions to Prof KM trying to go nowhere … 😂
Dame can leaning from the number reading want horse is strong in racing about the pass.👨📖

Kishore is awesome.
Singapore and Hong Kong are fundamentally different.
Kishore basically said : "HK, stop licking the west, you'll be better off facing China and S.E Asia."
Could have spent more time on HK. How HK should reorientate itself within China and outside China? Unlike SG,it can deal with other gov directly, you have to go thru Beijing. Like what Kishore said get some good diplomats to sell HK.
Need a better host to explore deeper questions. Too superficial.
hey, its' kishore mahbubani
Simply put, with a population of 7 million, Hong Kong should focus on its own role and what it can and should do, rather than trying to address the issues of the entire 8 billion. Viewing things through the lens of “yellow,” “blue,” or any other color is misguided, impractical, and ultimately meaningless.
Hong Kong, look into providing HK people , public housing and HK ownership!!!
Own it!!!
talent in politics? do you mean the atrocity riots? HK need brains for business, economy and world' stage diplomacy amid China influencing, not politics. Have you not witness the low cuss and classed politics on the street daily, ? pathetic.
@@justineesun3396 I agree with your view about those during the riots but I don't mean that, I mean proper diplomacy training especially for government reps. We need better awareness and leaders like Lee Kuan Yew who can find the balance and are not intimidated by the West. Business and economy are important and we're not short of talents in those fields, but we need to diversify e.g. in tech innovation.
HKers are only concerned about making money.
He should talk with Mehdi Hassan if he dares. That would be something to watch. But seeing what happen to Victor Gao, everybody has figured out the weak point of China apologists
As if that would ever be allowed. RTHK has been completely gutted since the NSL from top to bottom. It's no better than CGTN now, only propoganda is permissable not genuine debate.
Kishore, correction, Apple, amazon is now falling no longer world class

Excellent assessment by professor Kishore Mahbubani. We can only hope that the West is listening.

no wonder all the Hong Kong rich and capable are running towards Singapore . too crowded already. go to China and stay there
Hk no longer one country systems...Dictator XJP never allow.
Mahbubani needs to be designated as a foreign agent by the Singapore government, what a tool.
He is a goddamn class A asshole. And if you looked back into history.. you would see what has happened to HK... and their people that were sent abroad to protect themselves... And him.. being of Indian heritage... is acting so sanctimonious as well.... And it is him, that is not aware of what needs to be done?
He is.
poor interview, tvb has wasted this great opportunity for having krishnan on their show. the host has not allowed he aswered the question in full, then hurryingly goes to next question. HK people has yet to learn the importance of details not only everything must be fast.
the interview is getting bored by this Kishore, repeating the same stance while he lauded the success of China and geopolitical what's not? after all, ain''t too brainy to talk any thing else, Bring in George Yeo!!
I just can’t stand the politically correct way to introduce the titles of a guess, maybe just few recognizable titles, too much always feel like kissing ass. In this caseI do not mean Mr. Kishore through most of his interview he is a humble guy.😅
The difference is HK has no Lee Kuan Yew
nor Singapore will ever produce another LKY.
Look at the difference between India and Hong kong which is the same under British rules.
Hong Kong Chinese worked hard with Chinese ideology and characteristics which they developed well compared Indians today
I am sure mainland Chinese will work in Hongkong.

This guy is a superb bull artist.
The interviewer is terrible. No charisma and engaging at all.
The longer HK is distance from the G7 Countries, the faster decline HK would.
It is the declinig G7 countries that are screwing HK to slow China down, you got it all wrong!
Hong Kong wants to do business with all countries in the world.
Hong Kong is one of the very few places where the US scores a trade surplus. And a big one.
It's the countries which have been imbued with overt or covert agenda, that want to take China down, using HK as a leverage.
The G7 itself is in decline!
G7 is slowly becoming irrelevant, stop dreaming!
