Finally, a video of the threading double heddle that shows it in detail! Thank you!
This is the most helpful video I've found yet on this subject.
Thank you for posing such an informative video on threading 2 heddles. Is there a follow up video showing the sequence on how to use the heddles to create double weave or a pattern? Thank you
This is different from the way another video shows. The other video did not show placing one strand into the slot to the left. So I ended up with 3 in a slot, one through the hole to the left, and patterns just weren't working. I have to undo and redo now -- yours matches what I find in my Jane Patrick book, and after seeing this, I actually understand her written instructions now. Wow, if it weren't for the internet, I'd never learn anything!
Thank you! Took me a while to find this great video!
Thank you for this video. It was the clearest to understand and also visually very clear what you were doing. It was very helpful.
You are GREAT at explaining and showing the 2 heddle threading concept. I am going from a 4 shaft to a RH because I love the intimacy and control of a RH (I am also a backstrap weaver) but I just could not grasp the threading sequence as explained in books. Your video has all the answers. Thanks again!
Thank you for a great tutorial.
Thank you for sharing. I needed the instruction and you did a great job. 🥰💙💛🇺🇦🌎
Thank you. . . I just bought my first loom and wanted to use Linen . . . but the heddle that comes with it is 7.5 . So I bought a second thinking no big deal, 15 dpi will be enough. . . but this was the first video that showed the simplicity of it.
Thank you very much!!
Such a good and clear explanation.
Very helpful, thank you
very very clear. It helped me out!!
i watched this video hoping to get how my grandma weave her textiles with two heddles (we call it locally as Uw'wo Tol'liya). And i just have to review this vid to make it clear.
Ive seen a couple of videos on how to warp two heddles but no videos on what patterns you can use with both heddles.
Since you’ve marked the starting holes on both heddles, why not just pull through both rigid heddles when you first pull the doubled warp threads through? Seems like you could reduce the steps by doing that.
Hi there no I am from South African and I like your video
That was a FANTASTIC video…. But as a new weaver, I must ask, was the second reed threaded the exact same way as the first reed?
Thank you 🙏
Muy interesante su video, pero si pudiera subir a youtube o indicarme donde puedo ver como se trama, pues he conseguido enhebrar los dos lizos con sus explicaciones pero no soy capazde ver como se continua con el tejido.
Thank you
great video I am going to use two 10 dent heddles and warp this way with 8/2 cot/lin to make bread bags and want a 20 sett. Would I put in a header to make the 20 set? How do I separate the threads evenly to get the set without crossing them? Thanks!
Any chance you can do a video (or know of one) for a quad heddle loom?
Oi eu sou a Miriam e gostaria de aprender como colocar a linha no tear, estou vendo pela primeira vez um tear e gostaria de aprender, obrigada.
So currently I have 32 in ashford with double heddle holder. I feel need to secure heddle with clamp. How would i set second heddle for this technique in video?
Is this for plain weave or a particular pattern? Also, would’ve helped to do multiple colors for easier visibility:/
Eu preciso do passo a passo de como começar a colocar a lã no tear.
Hello, what size heddle did you use for this.. Did you use the same size for both? Can you use two different sizes, say like the bigger one at the back and smaller one at the front..?
+edward pascoe, Leslie Ann used two 10 dent heddles in this video. The problem with using 2 different size heddles is that you will not have the same number of slots/holes in front and in back. One of the heddles will end up spreading the warp wider than the other which will cause tension and abrasion on the threads.
So after set up you just weave back and through for a plain weave nothing else special needs to be done?
can we do a 1,2,3,4 pick shaft in double heddle loom?
I think better to use different colour threads for easy understand
Maybe
Great video but I can't seem to get the pick up stick in the right order or to make my sheds for double weaving
Ruby, this video doesn't cover double weaving. Check out The Weaver's Idea Book by Jane Patrick for info on double weave with RH looms: www.yarn.com/products/weavers-idea-book
So is this the only way to 2/8 on rigid heddle loom why not just make a 20 dent heddle it seams to be used a lot in weaving I have been doing bands but really want to make my own clothes I try to do 2/8 on a backstrap loom but go 22 inches wide was frustrating it all got so tangled it so hard to keep good tension so I got a 24 in ridged heddle but it seams it is made more for knitting yarn I am doing 2/5 with 12.5 dent that's what I have right now wish iwould have gotten the 15 dent I will see what happens
hello great video !
I have a vintage double heddle loom where the 2 heddles are tied up together across the bar that rotates them up and down. how do I thread through them?
thank you
The threading process will be the same, but you will need to find a way to separate the heddles so that you can thread them separately or least get your hands in between to be able to manipulate the threads.
Totally lost you on the second heddle.
So if you have 4 heddles you would have to go through the slots 4 times correct
I'm pretty sure I followed this right, but I'm not getting what I expected. I just want to do a basic tabby weave but thinner, is this not for that?
I tried again with different yarn, the threads keep tangling together as I change shed so it doesn't open properly, am I doing something wrong or is it just rubbish yarn?
What design does this make? Why double heddles?
Hi can you please do a video on how to Insent the pick stick when you are weaving with two heddle
+Kimm Austin, Thanks for the suggestion! We are always looking for ideas for videos that will help our customers and we will add this to the list. If you are local, we are offering a class this summer in weaving with double heddles that will cover working with double heddles and pick up sticks together.
Sorry....I guess I didn't make myself clear. In this video, what size heddle are you using, and what size yarn are you using with those heddles. Thanks!
Gotcha! Leslie Ann thinks it was 8/2 Tencel, and it's a 10 dent heddle.
hi I just found this video, I am a beginning weaver and I was wondering what kind of rigged heddle loom should I go for . I want to turn this in to a craft business and gift crafting. I would also like one that takes double heddles. thanks I am going to try to find other videos. thanks. Jeannie in california
Jean, the Schacht Flip Rigid Heddle looms come with the ability to use double heddles, but not all rigid heddle looms arrive with this feature built-in. You can view them here: www.yarn.com/products/schacht-flip-rigid-heddle-looms
Thank you i am looking forward to watching your videos.
What type/size yarn are you using?
It depends on your heddles and your project type. If you are doing double heddles, the yarn you are using should have a sett of the combined heddles, i.e. with two 10-dent heddles the yarn should have a sett of 20 epi. If you are using multiple heddles to weave multi shafts patterns (instead of doubling the sett), then the yarn should fit easily through the slots and holes of the heddles.
Maybe I missed it but why do you slay 2 times.. and do it correctly the 1st time ??
Thank you. I finally got it!
