oh well hope you enjoy my stuff, I have over 1400 videos mainly Derby stuff. Guess you have subscribed? I have quite a few "Derby then and nows" they have their own playlist : ua-cam.com/video/VWXdX8CBSJs/v-deo.html
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Oh wow you actually have walked across it ! So was the canal still in place then or had that been filled in at that point?
@@HaynesMusic thanks Ben, I’ve got loads to come. Just need editing together which is time consuming. I love making them, they bring the past to life. Until I made this one I didn’t realise that iconic weir is actually over 230 years old and a left over bit of history from the Derby canal, it only exists due to the canal !
The drone footage really helps to remind me of the bridge’s location. Must have been sturdily built to carry the horses and withstand the river in flood. Did the boats stay on the upstream side, perhaps rubbing against boards? Thanks.
Thanks yes I thought that my drone would help place it for people that don't really know that area. Yes the canal boats would be on the right side otherwise would end up stuck on the weir !
As a Derby lad born and bred I'm fascinated by our past I'm glad I found your channel.

Loved the video and the extra history lesson/facts you wrote about :)
Thanks, yes researching all the history takes time but is important.

the canal was more or less stopped at the river edge but full of weeds.
ok, real shame we lost it all. Great that they are trying to restore it some of it.
