Project A is by far my favourite Jackie Chan movie. And the first one I ever saw. Was on a bad VHS copy 😂 and I loved it so much. I was about seven and was sooo amazed 😂
Arrow didn’t include a video in the Friday 13th 2009 4k because Warner Brothers doesn’t see reason to include the blu-ray in the arrow release because it would compete with their own blu-ray release.
Heath, awesome video as always. Only it's much too short!!! (I thought I'd try to drown out those long-video naysayers who have no attention spans. If the content is great then it's NEVER long enough). I picked up the DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROWS 4K with your commentary on it and can't wait to hear it! Keep up the great work, my friend!!!
Great show. I'm looking forward to your upcoming film noir commentary, btw. And thanks for the recommendation on the Max Steiner doc. Will definitely check it out.
I think Scream Factory still has the Blu-ray rights to "Friday the 13th" (2009) in the U.S., and Arrow just has the 4K rights, so that's why no Blu-ray in Arrow's release.
Really places you in a tough spot when you are delivered a erotic film and they want you to talk about them, lol. Also Max Steiner has conducted one of the greatest film score for 1933 King Kong.
Holy cow, I love Dark Night of the Scarecrow!!! The same features would be on the bluray edition, too? Not just the 4K? I don't have the capability as of yet to really take advantage of the 4K, though I have bought some that were just new versions, so I'll do that here if necessary.
And, man, I'd LOVE your commentaries. I just joined your Patreon so that I can encourage you to do those--I know podcasts/videos take forever to edit, so I want to show appreciation. If you ever wanted to do a series on what makes horror comedies work (or fail) that's an interest of mine. Such as why is Tucker & Dale so beloved, but lots of people hate Hell Baby. (I love both)
Heya Heath. Yes, Arrow doesn't do deep cuts as much anymore and they seem to be going more mainstream. And honestly it kind of pisses me off because if i want mainstream i will go to the actual cinemas. Cheers.
I’ve seen the first Project A and it’s one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies. I would love to buy this boxset but the price is ridiculous at $100 on Amazon.
Shout/Scream Factory's output of late has been super underwhelming! I am excited for their upcoming release of Mike Flanagan's Hush, but it has felt like they've dropped the ball on putting out more classic horror flicks -- for a few years it's just felt like they've been doing 4k re-releases with no new features or anything. It felt like they were the go-to studio for a lot of the 70s and 80s horror movies, but have really been trounced by others including Arrow and Vinegar Syndrome.
In my review I could show the back, cause I'm not making a living on the review I would put 18 and up only! I'm going to review the new Calugual when iu get my copy next week!
I'm a studio guy. I would be unsure where to even begin with most of the "weird" stuff I see on the physical media channels here. I want to get into it, to broaden my horizons, but the pricing and "weirdness" of it has kept me away sadly.
When it comes to boutique labels like Arrow, are you sure the blu ray versions are still selling stronger than the 4K ones? I feel like nowadays I consistently see the 4K versions of limited editions sell out well before the blu ray ones. It's possible they're making more units for the blu ray ones, but I don't think so 🤔
There's a very passionate 4K audience out there, but they're not the majority. In my interview with Indicator, they said that they sell about 5 4Ks to every Blu-ray, but in the larger physical media picture, 4K is by far the smallest demographic. Here's the latest numbers from Media Play's market share stats, for the week ending September 14th: DVD: 58.1% Blu-ray: 31.3% 4K 10.6%
@CerealAtMidnight Oh yes, undeniably true that 4K is still niche overall, but I just meant for the boutique stuff specifically, it seems to be performing much better than blu ray when you have both options for the same title. Thanks for the response and insight!
I love the Hamilton Book (honest) ad read and sponsorship
I love the Max Steiner documentary! Had no idea it was on dvd or blu ray. Thank you!
Terrific show! Hamilton very low cost shipping! I’ve been a customer for years. I have bought a lot of great books and films. ❤
Thanks for mentioning Champions :) Enjoy the commentary and the CFK special feature :) - Arne
the Project A collection is sick, the first one is one of the best action movies ever
Great video as always! Thanks, Heath! God bless and stay safe!

It's been awhile since I saw the F13 remake but I recall thinking it was ok. Much better than nightmare. Not that that was a high bar.
Congratulations on the sponsor! Awesome.
Great roundup, as usual.

I suspect you might enjoy Project A more than the usual Hong Kong comedies. This one is more in the style of Buster Keaton.
Great show. I'm looking forward to your upcoming film noir commentary, btw. And thanks for the recommendation on the Max Steiner doc. Will definitely check it out.
Project A are fun movies. They’re kind of like his Indiana Jones movies with nods to his hero Buster Keaton and such.

I'm excited for the Friday the 13th 4k it's a favorite of mine i get people don't like it but I think it's a fun time and the blu-ray is very outdated
Congratulations on the new sponsorship
I remember Blockbuster in Australia didn't have many Hammer films also.

The pg rated Hammer films Mummy's shroud, from Studio canal had a R rated trailor for the Devil rides out.

Tinto Brass preferred soft core.

Warner owns the rights to Friday the 13th on Blu-ray and Arrow owns the 4k rights. That’s all!

I really like Jason X in space.

Hi I love your website and your knowledge but I didn't like the Protégé.
