To think the Overmind spent millenia guiding the Swarm in a rampaging conquest and Kerrigan got it taken apart and split into squabbling factions in an uneasy alliance with the rest of the sector within a decade...
Well, to be fair, it was the Protoss who slew the Overmind, which greatly weakened Zerg cohesion. Daggoth and the other cerebrates forming a new Overmind would have helped, but if Kerrigan had gone along with them and submitted to the new Overmind, then she would have been taken over by the UED along with them. Forging on her own was probably the best option, and what the Overmind wanted from her in the first place, to have a more independent spirit. With the loss of the second Overmind, I think it made sense that the Zerg simply needed to evolve to become less centralized.

God dang they were not happy with the zerg to be relentlessly attacking early at the start.
both factions received massive casualties but it worked in the end as overmind is here with 3 more armies
