The health of electrotechnical operatives is a crucial element of the JIB Agreement. The JIB Benefits Scheme helps to look after those employed by JIB members by providing a package of private medical, life and accident insurances, enhanced sick pay and health assessments.
To support electrical employees and their families, since 2006 the JIB Benefits Scheme has paid out more the £5 million in death in service claims and over £1.2 million for permanent and total disability claims. It has also funded more than 150,000 sick days for JIB operatives since 2012, helping them to recover and recuperate for their return to work.
Via the JIB Benefits Scheme and the support it provides, the JIB is demonstrating a clear commitment to make ‘health’ just as important as ‘safety’ in the drive to improve industry working conditions and the wellbeing of the electrical workforce.
