Katrina, re: Patreon - hold fire until after your wedding, you have enough on your plate. A special video on the floral arrangment at the wedding would be good to see.
True but I like to get ideas and plan ahead!
Vraiment top bravo 😊
A bientôt
Your allotment is particularly beautiful this year. It's obvious you've invested a lot of time and effort in it over the years. I'm reminded of the Chinese proverb: "The best fertilizer is the gardener's shadow".
You asked about Patreon. My first reaction was that to produce extra content would be a lot of extra work for you - and you already do so much with the garden itself, your job, the video editing and your wedding! Then I thought - Patreon is simply a way for people who enjoy and appreciate your channel to give regular financial support. You don't need to produce any additional content at all. I expect many people would like to show their appreciation and gratitude so a simple Patreon account would be a good way for them to do that. Over time - when you have time - you might consider a Premium Supporter contribution level where you could offer a quarterly live Q&A or even a chance to win a personal tour of your plot.
Katrina, Thanks for your outstanding videos that have a nostalgic, gentle and calming ambience which feels like escaping into a "secret garden" away from the world at large.😊 Julius
God I love your chanel soo much you are such a beautiful soul.
Why are you not a presenter on Gardener's World? I want to add hashtags. But I know UA-cam doesn't really do them...but if the UA-cam gods are listening @montydon this wonderful woman is an inspiration to so so many of us. ❤❤
If I had a pound for every time some says this 😂 💰 Thank you ☺️
I love your channel and you are such an inspiration. You are very relaxing to watch and in turn inspire me to do my garden. Keep up doing what you are doing.❤
You’re absolutely glowing with anticipation for your wedding and the garden coming into flower and beating fruit! The nasturtium color is gorgeous, and your pepper varieties continue to wow me. For a Patreon, I’ve never joined one, but I’d think about it if you were on there! I’m thinking maybe doing one of your garden dinner parties you used to do before covid, but for your patreon fans. Also, giveaways with your saved seeds (If international shipping prohibits that, then perhaps a collab with a US seed company like Johnny’s or Baker Creek.)
Greetings from malta nice time of the year for the gardens. Never missed a video well done
I support another allotment vlogger and he gives a quick shout out at the end of his videos to his top tier supporters. He also writes a few posts for his supporters only. It’s really not that much and I personally support him because I like his content. I see others who scroll a list of supporters at the end of their vlogs. I may be wrong but I think most people just want to contribute given that they know how much effort it takes to have a UA-cam channel. The garden looks great!
Do you feel famous when you get spotted? I think you would be amazing as a gardeners world presenter👍
Everything is looking amazing. So lush.
Extras - more processes like drying flowers, making yout chutney and other things you make with your produce. Would love more detail on your decorative plants and planting schemes and maybe some more educational videos on things that you learn whilst doing your RHS course.
You're a great practical teacher and you could teach us a lot!
Great video as always! I hope to follow in your footsteps one day... maybe 😂😅😅 🌱🌱
Noted! Thanks for the feedback 💕
Well done you'll reap what you sow, including beautiful bouquets for your big day insha Allah! Thank you for all the inspirational 'sparklers and magic wands'.
Wow, just absolutely incredible this year!!! So inspiring! ❤🎉❤
The allotment garden is lookin so beautiful! Thanks for sharing your garden.
Katina, thanks for amazing colourful tour, so much has grown so quickly, (or is time moving quicker?). Anyway regards Patreon, perhaps put it on the back boiler for now. A wedding is more important and its one stress less to worry about. That's my thoughts but its your decision.
A plot neighbour of ours grows lots of crysants so I asked for some cuttings 3 years ago and I have had really tall bushy plants since and I have taken cuttings myself now. When I was growing up my mum grew show crysants and covered each individual heads with paper bags to keep protected so they grew big and my Nan made flat wicker flower baskets and I would go round the village selling the blooms as a little girl. One year the cows in the field next door broke through the fence into our garden and ate all the flowers but it was quite exciting. My mum wasn’t happy. Memories that was a very long time ago.
Everything is looking beautiful 🍃🌺🍃
Clematis and honeysuckle look amazing 🙂
Hiya Katrina Thankyou for a visit gosh everything is so lush and coming along. Oh the dried allium with battery operated fairy lights intertwining for wedding. Re Patreon totally up too you?. Sorry but not in my budget. Blessings Luv southern Ontario Canada. Happy July 1st to all my friends 🍻🎉🇨🇦🐝
What an amazing garden!! Thank you for the video! This is wonderful😊
Another lovely plot tour, thank you! Your honeysuckle looks gorgeous, mine is not yet flowering here in Michigan, it was newly planted this spring. About Patreon, I'm one of those that hopes to support you there someday. As for offering supporters "extras", I think another YT gardener does it well.. she simply allows her Patreon supporters access a day early to her videos. She also adds an occasional (maybe monthly?) "behind the scenes" type of short (a few minutes) video only viewable by her supporters. I'm happily satisfied with that. 🙂
Thank you! That’s really helpful 😊 Hope you have a lovely weekend!
@@homegrowngarden I'm busy packing this weekend as I'll be heading to England on Monday for two weeks! A highlight of my trip will be the Hampton Court Garden Festival. 🙂
I love it too Katrina ❤Xx
You're Gorgeous xx💐
Beautiful garden like u❤
You have a nice life
Thanks for the tour Katrina your plot is looking spectacular especially that clematis. I use four of those Harris fence things for my climbing beans.
👌
Thanks
Meh, don’t worry about ‘hiding it under the rug,’ out of sight as they say! 👍🏻😜😜 Your plot looks great! 🤙🏻👍🏻
That’s really weird, I have clematis and honeysuckle together on my homemade trellis! 😜😜🤣🤣👍🏻🤙🏻
Good Going w/garden ! mum growers usually prune in july so's to bush out plants for fall ; patreon is something to definitely consider & explore - take yr time to think it over - no rush !
Thank you your Alottment is amazing
You’ve given me ideas for my Alottment I’m based in Brighton
All the best and look forward to more videos
Hi cat,not spoke for a long time lol ,congratulations on your forthcoming wedding 🎉, just to let you know a few years ago you sent me some aji pineapple,& sugar rush chille seeds and since then I've grown them every year ,now my stock has taken me to the hot and super hot 🔥 ones lol ,so thank you for getting me into chille growing 😅😅😅😅,
So lovely to hear from you. I’m thrilled to hear you’ve become chilli obsessed 😆
what a lovely tour well done katrina
Thanks that was great although I wanted to see how your dahlias are doing too !…mine are a mixup of little and large and finally a few flower buds…
It's all coming along very nicely, well done.
When you said Mr. Roald Dahl made an appearance I thought what the?? Then I realised you were talking about the flower!! LOL!! P.S...looking forward to that potato harvest young lady!! LOL!!
Looks fantastic
Everything is looking great 🌼🐝
If you did a patreon, you could do the gardeners diary. Little videos of a week by week of planning, buying, sewing and planting. More like a video garden planner 😊
Merci Katrina pour la visite de ton jardin et le partage de cette passion qui t'anime. Beau jardin ! A french gardener from France : Laurent ! 🙂
Absolutely beautiful garden, good job!. Love watching your channel.
Your allotment looks great and I hope you get all the flowers you want and more for your wedding ceremony! You also do buy me a coffee, rather than Patreon maybe? And I wish the green wild parsnip that grows here, that looks a lot like yours wasn’t super toxic and dangerous. The wild parsnip here in Iowa (and I’m sure other states) if it gets on your skin burns and causes a lot of pain, especially if it is also exposed to the sun…it is sort of a nightmare to see it growing everywhere. Thanks for sharing your allotment update! ❤
Love watching your tours I look forward to them 😊😊
Glad you like them!
What a lovely garden 🪴
such a beautiful garden 🙂
Your cosmos are looking great, I think the problem with mine not germinating was due to ants taking my seeds, your polytunnel looks amazing, the tomatoes are doing well, I have never grown nasturtium but those look stunning 👍
Sound wasn’t bad at all and hey at least you have a backup mic now. 😉
Ahh thank you. Glad you couldn’t notice much difference after I tweaked it a lot! I had to return the old one, luckily it was still under warranty. It’s just annoying trying to figure out which cable has broken!
bạn thật xinh đẹp cảnh cũng đẹp😊
love
Going low carb made me appreciate fruit more. Like an apple tastes like candy. I understand your anxiety about starting a patreon! I wouldn't even worry about it unless down the road you feel inspired or something. I also love goth flowers and plants! Theyre so dramatic. Especially black elephant ears!!!
I'm sure you know this really, but that is not Red Campion, that is Lychnis(or Silene) Coronaria or Rose Campion/Rose Cockle, having said that Red Campion (Silene Dioica) is also quite pink as opposed to red !
Thanks for the update Katrina, the plot is looking great !
I don't have any garden anymore and so I simply adore being walked through yours. It is coming along so beautifully. Thanks for sharing. As for Patreon, I would suggest you hold off on it because they still operate in Russia and that is not supportive of Ukraine.
Lovely tour. The "hide the rubbish" trellis is certainly doing it's job, just beautiful. Patreon, yep, I agree with JamesBrown below, you don't need to add any more work to your day with extras. Maybe next yr you could share how you go about your projects, then we can see the results in the tours. Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend.
Another great update, everything is looking so good. I’m always getting ideas from you so thank you. I wish you would get sone more Medaka fish though as I loved seeing them in your mini pond. 😊
Funny you mention that… I’m building a cage this afternoon 😏
@@homegrowngarden already looking forward to seeing the update on that. 😊
Nice video
Another lovely tour, thank you! So pleased to see your strawflowers are at about the same stage as mine. Your achilliea is miles on from mine, I suspect they're not getting enough sun. Have you looked into the buy me a coffee thing as well? As I understand it you wouldn't need extra content.
Yeah, I had very little June drop this year on my apples and had to manually thin fruit. My persimmon is seemingly dropping more but it still looks to be a big crop again. Your ginkgo looks amazingly healthy. Not sure why I like them so much, must be their prehistoric appearance... and fall color.
I have been growing Tigerella and Golden Sunrise this year. In fact I had such good germination that I have more than filled up my parents greenhouse with them, and have some growbags outside as well, and still have more seedlings than I know what to do with. I've grown Tigerella before and they had good flavour, haven't tried Golden Sunrise before.
I thought I saw you on GW live!😊
Hi Katrina it’s all looking gorgeous. We lost at least half of our pears in the June drop but not so many apples. We have clusters of them and can’t bring myself to thin them and my 2 year old bramley is covered with them none last year so it’s it’s first year and I think the branch will need supporting. Also lost a few plums it’s it’s 3 rd year so still not had loads but each year there is a few more👍🙋🏻
Wish you success with going Keto.
I am ketovore, love this way of eating
😋
It’s only temporary. I’ll have to stop once the spuds are ready!
Ive eaten low carb for a decade and I love it
@@homegrowngarden I'm glad to hear it! Keto deprives you of cancer-fighting elements found in berries and fruit. It deprives you of complex carbs like quinoa, brown rice, barley, lentils etc. And those potatoes are going to be so so good!
👁️🤝💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋🙏🥀🌹💐🍾🥃🍷☎️🎂🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
extras for a patreon account could be footage of national trust gardens as well as other allotments.
Your plot is looking lovely. Regarding your sarracena, my local specialist carnivorous plant nursery told me they leave theirs out all winter and they're often sat in ice. I did the same this year and they've been fine. Lots of lovely new growth on them, and I'm in North Yorkshire. Hope that helps 😊.
Yeah, that’s why I left my previous one in the pond over winter. I guess it didn’t like being stuffed into a rock 😆
Don't focus on the patreon thing yet - wedding and honeymoon first!
As it's winter here I've don't have a lot growing. 2 massive self seeded Borage plants, some lettuce and a couple of broccoli and cauliflowers. No real plans for the garden for the rest of winter...maybe plant some more lettuce...but I'm looking into growing corn, capsicums (like 3 or 4)instead of 1, potatoes, tomatoes, peas and cucumbers. Small space issues.
helo you 😊
Beautiful Katrina. Your plot looks amazing. My potatoes are 7/10. Red Duke of York were rubbish but the Charlottes so far have been good. Broad Beans are great, but my peas weren't great. I don't think they liked the heat. Can't wait to see your wedding flowers start to bloom x
Thank you for your great videos. But can you tell me how often you fertilize your plants? , is it just once during planting, or do you fertilize more often during the growing season? Or is it different for each plant type?
Hiya Katrina, love your channel and look forward to updates, can I ask you what month do you plant your main crop potatos please ? Trying them for the first time this year here, planted in the early part of April, and the foliage is huge off just 2 little spuds 🙂
You can borrow my cat to sort your strawberry problem if you like. 🐈⬛😆
🌈💚🍀
I am in Toronto, Canada weather has fluctuated so not sure what will be the season veggie or flower highlight.
Please focus on your wedding first! 😊 My idea for your patron account would be seeds from your own plants as giveaways! Just a thought
Great idea but might prove impractical. Since brexit it's illegal to send seeds abroad and many countries have their own restrictions anyway.
I'm growing vampire chillies too! Also that nasturtium is gorgeous.
Your garden is fantastic. What a show your clematis is giving. Do you stake the yarrow? mine is flopping over, and is too thick. Do I dig it out and separate it?
I do support with a semi-circle hoop thing. One of them is still flopping but yes, dividing it will definitely help!
@11:56 How to turn two apples into a pear!
😆
I’m facing challenges with rust. It’s prolific on our allotment and I don’t know what tactics to take next year to help 😢
Katrina, I have zero success with my strawflowers for a few years now. I believe I had bad seeds from the same supplier, I would love to buy a few from you if you are selling some :)
Sorry to hear that. When you sow them do you cover the seed with the soil?
@@homegrowngarden l think l did twice, but last time l didn't cover with soil and they didn't germinated much, maybe a few plants (and they died anyway) out of a whole packet of seeds. Perhaps Scottish weather isn't good for them? I don't see any of these around here :(
I think that's a Rose Campion, not a Red Campion in Grandma's border and that's why its not red.
So it is! 🤪
We call it Rose Campion :) How the heck do you get your clematis to flower like that ! Amazing ! Any tips ?
That clematis flowers it's socks off . I have 3. It's called Mme Julia Correvon. Cut it down every spring to 12 inches from the ground. It covers a 6 foot trellis in a season. I recommend it to everyone I know! 😁
Berries are ok on keto... in moderation :)
KATRINA Sow some lettuce every few weeks
Lovely Clematis! Is that Madame Julie Correvon ?
Yes, it is!
Katrina you have done such a fabulous job building your garden into a beautiful site a real jewel. My hubby and I ( both in our 70’s ) just spend two days digging out our 10+ yr. Wisteria. It got too hard for us to keep up with it. Love watching all that you share thank you so much. 👍❤️😊
Hi!
Do you know the name of that clematis by any chance?
I have one and I absolutely love it!!! Would be nice to know the name.
Great video! 💚
Sure! It’s a stunner isn’t it? She’s clematis ‘Madame Julia Correvon’
@@homegrowngarden Thank you very much! Have been wondering for a long time. She is wonderful! 💚
How about crafts for patreon? Festive bouquets, dried ornaments and the like?
Home….. were l want to be home.
No patreon
Are you sure you want to go there??....suggest you see what people expect.....take care..
That’s why I’m asking 🤷🏻♀️
They would expect to see more of you,am sure you get the idea 💡, go for it..
25:24 Your partner is a bit of a... 'goff?' Is that right? What does it mean?
It’s a music based subculture that was huge in the 90s. A goth is generally someone who likes to wear all black and is into rock music.
@@homegrowngarden "Goth" I know! Thanks for clearing that up.
A lot of people have a patreon account without offering extras. Get yourself married first eh.
Cheers Rich 🙂
