San marzano tomatoes! I don't eat a great deal of raw tomatoes either. But they're absolutely fantastic for sauces. Grew 5 plants last year and had at least 2kg from each plant.
    Congrats on the 100k!

Great video again Katrina. I’m so glad you gave Zoe a shout at Zoe Woodward gardening. I’ve been buying my seeds and corms from her for a couple of years now and she is by far the best for cut flowers. Also going to try a non basil called holy basil or tulsi. I dream of disappearing snow…. ❤️🇨🇦👍🍅🍅. Just teasing but I’m glad you reached 100 k before you admitted to not liking tomatoes! 😂😂😂. Russian tomato varieties don't cope any better with cold. As in the UK, they are started indoors in spring, then planted out when temperatures rise. The big difference is that Russian summers are very much warmer and sunnier than in the UK.

Getting the watering right is incredibly important as to not dilute the flavour and also not making the fruits swell and getting them splitting. Semi hardship might make the plants look a little less vigorous but the flavour will be there. A weekly feed of liquid seaweed is good practice as is a spray with crushed aspirin in a water sprayer every few weeks. This makes the plants feel under attack and in turn produce a natural chemical to protect itself.

When I originally planted the honesty it was from seed. The plants then self-seeded everywhere. @@homegrowngarden Thanks Katrina. It does seem misleading though as frosts can pass but certain plants can only be kept outside above 4c like tomatoes and things like courgette can only handle 10c at night. So is a light frost 4 - 0c frost 0 - -4c and hard frost -4c +?
I'm in London Zone 9a. Last frost dates vary from 10th March to the 31st, depending on the website. I have been planting my tomatoes out in late April, thinking that, it had to be warmer at night.
I am going to start acclimatising my over wintered herbs and my first potato tomorrow/Wednesday as it looks like it will be above 5c until the end of the month. I guess if it does get super cold ie below 2c, i could bring them back in or cover them?
My sugar snap peas are about 10 cm tall above the soil. Could they be planted out once acclimatised? I direct sowed beetroot, radishes, turnip, spinach and carrots. I hate direct sowing as you can't tell if anything is happening.
Yes totally get the lack of growing space and light. We used to live in a basement flat. We did have small windowsills in the front bay windows but they only got a few hours of light. The basement patio that we refurbished had a lot of shade too from the neighbours conker tree. They owned the whole Edwardian house and didn't seem to understand how it caused problems for us what with shade and debris. We found our drain pipes around the patio made good toad/ frog houses as there were a lot of worms.
In the reno house, it's east facing, so i am putting stuff where i can and creating foil light boxes and when the grow light go off, i take the box frame off and put the fan on for a few hours.
I don't know about you but i always feel nervous about how the seedlings will germinate and survive the first stage few stages before going out. I always plant extra but you never know how a crop is going to do and how the seasons will treat you.
Looking forward to seeing how your allotment gets on this year. I am definitely growing more flowers this year from seed!
