How quickly do you think AD Mitchell (vs. Alec Pierce) and Laiatu Latu (vs. Samson Ebukam/Kwity Paye) become starters?
It’s way too early to be discussing this. We’ve seen them play against basically no one of NFL caliber. It’s fun to speculate, but this is a question that can’t be answered until at least well into training camp at the earliest, if not after a couple preseason games.

Hoping AD can get targets early but I would have loved to see a full year of Pierce and AR. It’s hard to hold on to hope for Pierce after lukewarm years, but he seemed to have so many plays open down the field that Gardner just never went his way on. 24:10
I agree. Hope AD Mitchell shows out immediately, but don't count Pierce out. He has more size and only slightly slower. Colts haven't had a QB that can get him the deep ball. I think AD Mitchell will have the edge in intermediate or shorter routes.

@@123shoshan and pierce was schemed for primarily vertical / deep routes. I would say a slot receiver and a possession guy would of course get more targets than the vertical one.

I think it going to come down to how AD performs in preseason. If he looks dominant than the coaches may be forced to play him.
Pierce is cooked as starter. Ballard was trying to trade up to get one of the Big Three wideouts in this draft - and Ballard trading up (or trying to trade up) to do anything is worthy of note.
I think the problem people have with Pierce is they see all the snaps he got last year, but the production doesn't match. Now you can put that Minshew for constantly not seeing him deep, but Pierce right now in terms of a route tree is a one trick pony. He just runs go routes for the most part and that's not gonna work if he can't do anything else in terms of route running
I think LATU is a plug and play starter, he probably won’t be though. Colts dline depth is INSANE so he may be roatstional at first, same with Mitchell. They’ll BOTH be starters by mid season, if not sooner. #fortheshoe
Didn’t Latu have a PFF score of like 82 against the run? Why are we only talking about him as a pass rusher?
They're gonna use him like Micah Parsons, probably. He's not big enough to be a run stopper in the NFL, just looking at his frame.
AD is the starter over pierce the first game, I mean it should be that way. They may use both at once some and other times to help keep the WRs fresh but imo day one AD is a better WR over AP. I will say I think AP did get better year 2 and can be a decent WR if he takes another step and continues to grow. AD is a no doubter imo. I think Latu is a starter at some point this year, sooner than later, but if he starts off as a backup he will get a lot of PT and it’ll grow weekly

Yeah that was my opinion, it only matters what I think to me but if the question is asked I’m answering what I think, it’s what I think will happen. I’d wager what I said about AD will be true, the dude is like downs he doesn’t drop passes and AP has dropped a lot.
Only thing Pierce has over Mitchell is his run blocking ability AD has better hips better route running he’s just as fast if not faster and if he gets the ball in his hands he is extremely shifty pierce is fast with zero moves once the ball gets to him
@@thurfusjessieiii5459he’s definitely got the run blocking advantage. I’d argue he’s a better 50/50 jump ball receiver too. In all other aspects, AD should eventually pass Pierce, but I still like Pierce. There’s a place for him in the NFL, and he got a raw deal as far as who’s throwing him the ball his first two years (in terms in deep ball arm strength).

Ballard knows that he's gonna have to replace a couple of the super-highly paid linemen to clear some coins to pay the quarterback in a couple years. So he is drafting linemen now for the future.

Based on last years performance, Tavon Bryon does not deserve a roster spot.
I think Mitchell won't take the starting role from Pierce until mid season or maybe not until next season... He needs to become a good blocker before he takes that spot from Pierce... I can see him getting 35-40% of the snaps this season... Pierce might have a good season because Richardson isn't afraid to throw the ball deep... Pierce was open a ton last season but Minshew didn't have the arm strength to get him the ball...

@@123shoshan you obviously have zero clue what you're talking about... when you have a RB like Taylor your receivers need to be great blockers... Pierce ran more go routes than anyone in football last season and was open alot... go watch some tape... Minshew isn't a QB that pushes the ball down field... don't know what games you were watching because Pittman was definitely not a deep threat... you can't put Mitchell on the field on running downs because he's a liability... he needs to become a complete player before he can overtake Pierce as the starter... also by adding an extra linmen teams will know your running it won't work... you have to keep teams guessing or your play calling is going to be shit... smh

@@LockedOnColts sure. I recorded every catch of his and edited it together just for this moment. 😂 Good grief. Go back and look. He’s a big time catch dropping nightmare. You only remember the big time ones he caught. He dropped nearly as many. It’s a running joke between myself and a couple friends. We call it out before it happens and you could flip a coin. Last season it didn’t happen as often, but that’s just because Minshew didn’t throw to him as much. He’s a downfield threat and Minshew is a check down kinda guy. I’m not saying Pierce sucks, because he’s a hell of a blocker. But he’s at best an average receiver with questionable hands when it really matters. His blocking is probably going to save his spot as a starter this season, but once Mitchell is up to speed as a receiver I think Pierce will be WR4.
