I just love his indisputable statement "they were made in England" so you pronounce it like this...here in Canada we're still on the fence, because we have a roughly 50/50 split on the two spellings....

Yes ill guess it Geiger and nobody else who painted them used air brushes! Cause that way ill get to make the baseless claim Geiger painted it! Tho i would have thought Geiger would have done a better job painting it!
The best way to do this is just to scan it. There are more and more 3d scanners that are affordable/cheap. But I’m not sure if they’re accurate enough yet. However for this, that’s how I would approach it since you simply would not have the ability to go back and fourth measuring multiple times. That and maybe a couple of reference measurements with a decent digital caliper

The coloring of the leather on the mask is due to the presence of moisture in the air and leather and the aluminium. Metals often have that effect on leather. Sometimes it's because of the way the leather was tanned and sometimes it's a reaction to something else briefly coming into contact. Most of the time it is permanent. I've had it happen to several of my own projects.

Less was kept from the first film because they didn't know that it was going to be such a massive hit. Ironically, in many respects Empire and Jedi are the harder of the three to collect original material from, because while they built more for those, a much higher percentage was retained.
you kind of have to remember that Star Wars also started during a time when film collectibles weren't that big of a deal.. the culture just wasn't really there. Same with merchandising. So most films of that era and earlier would wrap and then most props just either thrown away to make space or maybe given as gifts and souvenirs. After all, the prop isn't needed anymore. So most props that do survive from way back when tend to only exist because luckily some crew member thought it was kinda cool or someone forgot to throw it out or someone found it in the trash etc Originally the most sought after "film memorabilia" were autographs or film posters.
The excitement with the placement of the mask between Adam and Stephen makes me think of both fighting to put the mask on first to make the deepening sounds of braying donkeys with lighting speed flailing arms above holding the Tusken Gaffi Stick provided below the table. Only one leaves with the loser having the cranium caved in with the awaiting Banthas outside to take the Raider back to the Tatooine desert or nearest sand box provided by local city/county parks and recreation. I liked that character because it wasn't your standard space helmet robot type character you'd expect from Sci-fi movies leading up to 1977. It showed me as a 7 year old very quickly how different Star Wars was going to be. Which is what you'd expect from a segment of time taking place where universal travel to various planets is possible.
The Tuskan Raiders, to me, are one of most intriguing characters in all of Star Wars. I loved getting more info about them in "The Book of Boba Fett" but I was disappointed that they killed them off and left so many possibilities behind. Like, wouldn't it have been great to finally SEE what they look like under those helmets? Or, at the very least have Boba see what they look like as we see his reaction. I thought it would be interesting to discover that they are actually aquatic and those helmets are full of water. Remember, we did find out that Tatooine used to be covered with water long ago and that the Tuskans had been there for a very long time (they appear to be indigenous to the planet). Anyway, if there's a season two for BoBF then maybe we can find out more about them.
Im very glad we never saw what is under their masks. The episodes of Book of Boba Fett featuring the sand people are the best of that series. (i know thats not saying a lot) . I am just glad they decided to leave that mystery intact.
There was a poor guy near me had a huge collection of Star Was toy from the early days. All stored in his loft, his house caught fire and burned down. He lost all his SW stuff and his home. It even made it into the newspapers. 🤦♂ Such a shame
As a kid, the one thing I wish that I knew when I had my Star Wars toy collection, was the value they would have in the future. Had I known this, I would've started an actual unboxed collection. Same goes for my G1 Transformers and the multitudes of Wayne Gretzky rookie hockey cards. Parents today should teach their children the value of these sorts of investments.
The reason they're valuable today is simply because no one treated them like valued artifacts. When the prequel movies came out tons of people bought the action figures and hid them away thinking that they were on to the next big investment...which means they're worth next to nothing today, because there are tons of them in perfect condition still.

Fantastic… Thank you for sharing… Stunning
I'm really interested in that Star Wars poster on the wall. It is different from a similar version of the poster which is much more common.
My imagination wonders how loud they must be in real life. That sound they make is terrifying.
They used recordings from donkeys.
It'll never happen again because now everyone is aware of that potential and there are always speculative hoarders etc
Would love to have a mint 1977 Star Wars poster like that.
What do they look like without the mask
That's a beautiful sight.
Oh boy, I remember seeing "Star Wars" in a brand "new" multi screen, a whole 2, theater in the summer of '77.
Thanks for the memories.
That aluminum bit is so great 😂😂😂
adam savage pulling out the flashlight in .2 seconds is hilarious and completely unsurprising to me
In order to work at Propstore, one needs to have that "perfect hair." This guy and his counterpart in the US, both have that perfect pompador look.
This is truly amazing
"a slight lean to the left" - I know what Adam was doing there
