Twelve 👎🏼, l don’t get it. It’s easy to see why you love your job. It’s one that feeds a man’s adventuresome spirit. Thanks for bringing us along. Beautiful country, we can’t get enough. Be safe Mike.
I remember camping at Priest Lake Idaho a few times, but once, it never got below 85 degrees all night long...it was literally impossible to get any sleep! Just when we decided to go back to Spokane, one of the greatest thunderstorms put a show on, and cooled it down a little. It rained for the next two days. One of my fondest memories of the 4 years we spent in Spokane ; newlyweds and 1000 miles away from all family members and high school friends....pretty much why it lasted almost 30 years! But, nothing is forevermore anymore...
I loved the tapes of Colorado because I and my husband have been there and we have been to Montana and I felt like I was in the truck with you going over that mountain with the narrow road and those turns. My husband died Sept 2019 and I got a little teary watching your videos of places we had been to. Thanks for the memories and the snow.
Unbelievable beautiful scenery thru Idaho! Heading up to Olympia Washington in two days out of Helifornia, lol. My son lives in Olympia and is convincing me to move up there with him, after seeing your video of Idaho scenery I’m definitely seriously considering it! Thanks for the ride Mike... 👏👏🇺🇸
You may have heard this before but you have taught me a lot about the "trucker's point of view" on shared highways. I tow a 25 foot camper trailer but also just driving a car, this insight is helpful also. I'm in North Alabama.
Love your videos. Not a trucker, just a retired dude who loves road trips and has lived all over the Pacific NW. This one is really special, made that trip from Spokane to western Montana a hundred times on fishing and hunting trips. Peeaaccee!
Raised in Montana, joined the Army and after basic and AIT got sent to Austin, Texas where I heard that joke "Are you from Montanaaaannaa, Yep and I'm going BAAAAck. Got so bad, had to find out which state had the most sheep, well I'll be dammed, it WAS TEXAS!!! Joke's from the Texan's stopped.
I live in Richland WA. We here in the PNW have some of the most beautiful scenery to enjoy. It is nice having your videos because you travel all over just enjoy the views.
Nice to take this ride over to Eastern Washington , Idaho an into Montane because it has beem about 7 yrs. Mike your an Awesome driver it is a pleasure to ride with you.
Thats just a beautiful drive, even in winter. Feels like it's all down hill as you go east into Montana, really seems like it in the turns, add to it amazing roads in Montana. be Safe!
I live in the very little tip of Minnesota, that is on the north shore of Lake Superior, about a half an hour from Canada. It is the only highway that runs from Duluth to Canada, It is some of the most beautiful and scenic places in the lower forty eight, and, gets large amounts of tourists. Fishermen with boats, motorhomes, and trailers, and, in winter skiers. There are only two areas with passing lanes on the whole highway. I agree with tourists, they have all the time in the world, unlike the locals who are going to appointments, or work, ect. They poke along, and, when you come to the passing lanes, and, want to pass them, they stomp on the gas, and, it is a mile long race to get past them. They just do not drive an even speed. I could live with that, and, just adjust, it is the constant up and down that drives me crazy. Unfortunately it is the price some of us pay to live in a unique area, still better than city freeways.
That El Camino was cool ...I loved my Dads 1975 Ranchero! My best friends dad had the El Camino, and the 2 of us would race whenever we both “scored” daddy’s car! The Ranchero always won, but I don’t know if i won because of the driver ...me, or the Ranchero itself! 😉😇
Welcome to my neck of the woods. We live in Wallace, just off Exit 62. I really enjoy your channel... I enjoy driving and I'd love to be able to see the country for a living. My dad was a truck driver... might have been my profession too if I had it to do all over again. Safe travels.
I’ve watched few videos, love the ones I’ve seen, I’m disabled and ride my Harley around indiana, really makes me want to get a newer bike to come to the Rockies and ride for the views, I have been out there before. Yes more than once, just love your videos
I was OTR for 2 years. I used to run from Wisconsin to Seattle every few months. That ride is amazing. Always stopped at the 50000 silver dollar in western Montana. I would love to do otr again but when you’re married with kids it’s a tough life to live.
I have been riding along with you, found your channel yesterday. Brings back memories, such beautiful country! I miss it, left about 19yrs ago, hope to visit soon!
It's quite nice and educational to see different parts of the country that I'd probably wouldn't be able to travel to but watching your videos let's me experience that and see the northwest.
Doggone it! I always want the CAPTIONS..so I know exactly (well, close) what you’re saying Mike. Wish we could choose. Edited: Back in Texas after 12 years in Whitefish, Mt…BEAUTIFUL AND MISS IT!
Mike, if your schedule ever allows it, you can take a BEAUTIFUL 15 mile bike ride on "The Route of the Hiawatha" bike trail at the MT/ID border. You check in at the Lookout Pass Ski Area (Exit 0). If you don't have a bike and a helmet, you can rent them there. You then get back on I 90 and take the first MT exit to the trail head. The ride is very gently down hill so you don't even have to peddle the bike. They will pick you and your bike up at the bottom and put you on a shuttle bus back up to the top unless you want to ride back to the top. If you are not in a hurry you can stop at the kiosks and read about the history of the Milwaukee Road RR. You will be riding on the old RR bed. There are trestles and tunnels that make the trip even more fun.
#111 Good morning, Mike. Its too bad that such beautiful country has to be driven threw faster than one can enjoy! Those of us on vacation like to take it easier and see the scenery. But those like yourself that haul freight for a living and have traveled these highways many times just want to get from point A to point B quickly, and have no tolerance for slow pokes. I will try to stay out of your way, but at 72 years old, this may be my first time on this stretch of highway.
Hi Mike: Just now came across this video, glad I did. Interesting country, beautiful scenery. The fish was perfect size for eating, 8 to 12 inches, over 12 they seem to get mushy not firm like the smaller ones. You lucky to be able to pull over and cast a few. Enjoyed , thank you see you next time. Edward
Another interesting part of our country. Thanks, BTW, on one of your other vids, you mentioned, sailboat fuel and other euphemisms. One I heard sometimes, was 'I got on a load of dispatcher brains'. Yeah, same as sailboat fuel. Haha
Used to live in Colville back in the 70's and now live about 30 miles south of Colville or 25 miles north of Spokane. I now the area very well. I see you had to take Market St to go south through Spokane. The Freeway system around Spokane really Sucks! I have to take Market St. a lot myself. Anyway I know the entire route your driving in this video very well as I have driven it many, many, many times! Great video, Thanks!
I just started watching your videos and I’m hooked. I’ve always wanted to go for a truck ride. I love the open sky. Highway 50 looks like my kind of travel!! Watching this video now and I wished I had found you earlier. I live in Kettle Falls just 8 miles north of Colville. Let us know the next time you come this way! Keep up the great work!!
A lot of things that are common to railroading and trucking. One thing is the trucks and trains don't stop when the sun goes down. This stops a lot of men appyling to be trainee engineers
I didn’t realize US 395 went that far north. The drive from Bishop, California to Coleville, Washington, on US 395, would be a great drive! ‘Big Sky’ lived up to her name in this video (as she usually does)!
Miss traveling to beautiful Montana to visit long gone parents there..I would go up thru Sandpoint then East thru Clarks Fork - a nice way ...Ray Charles - 'Live each day like it's your last, 'cause one day you gonna be right'
My sister-in-law lives in Wallace, ID. It's a really neat town to visit and tour the sights. The movie Donta's Peak was filmed there. They also have this great little old motel that serves great old home cooking.
Beautiful and a great ride down memory lane. I'm from RI and the last (and only) time I drove through there was around '92 or '93. I could have sworn you had to get off the freeway at Wallace, drive through town, then get back on just as the road was going up that hill. I could be wrong, and I guess they DO make some progress in almost 30 years to the Interstate. But beautiful area and thanks for the ride.
whenever you are talking about getting weighed or the weigh station that song by little feat comes to mind 'willin' -song about a trucker etc...linda ronstadt did a version too...makes me want to listen to it now lol
