- I've wanted to take on a Sea Shanty style folk song, but up until this point I have been to scared. Mainly because I like to put my personal touch on the music. Based on my experience so far my interpretations have been enjoyed by you guys and many others!

Years ago, at the end of the last century when I was young, I crewed as a deckhand on a sailing yacht chartering in the Aegean Sea. It was very hard, physical work and at times extremely dangerous.
At the end of the season, anchored in a Turkish bay, I knew that it was to be my last evening aboard and I climbed the standing rigging to sit on the spreader bar. As I perched up there in the dark, alone and contemplating all of the experiences I’d had and knowing that the people I’d crewed with and lived with like family would very soon disappear from my life forever, I knew even then that it was a significant and poignant moment in my life.
Only now have I found this tune and it’s brought the emotions I felt that night right back to me, it’s an instant soundtrack to one of my most enduring memories.

@@theghost4282 I guess that was a question to me from you and so yes, we did part ways. He was the most remarkable man. I used to tell him that with the exception of his flaws and shortcomings, he was absolutely perfect. He really was and should I enter into a relationship with someone again, they must possess his amazing qualities. But he had two little shortcomings that were deal breakers for me. He was indifferent towards me and I revile indifference, and he let his family treat me however they wanted (He changed when they were around, and I didn't like who he was). My own dad, whom I adored growing up, was the same way. He was indifferent towards my talents (which were pretty amazing, and he let my stepmother abuse me and just looked the other way). So those two traits are intolerable to me. I am a very compassionate person, but my compassion won't give license to such behavior. I hope I answered your question in a meaningful way, and I do appreciate that you asked....
Jenny Mac I think it is very admirable you weren’t willing to compromise your integrity for someone who wasn’t willing to stand up for you. You deserve someone who is right for you, and treats you right. It’s really nice to know there are people with similar values for relationships left in the world. @@theghost4282 Ya know, words kind of escape me. I read your comment yesterday and it actually comforted a part of me that is really hard to comfort. I have had the devil of a time and I really expected the hate to commence after I responded to your question. I never know how people will respond. I once suggested a way to reform the homeless system in America, and it was very doable. The hate I got after was so bad, I went off Facebook. So thank you for your words of very sincere encouragement.
