- I explain the contents of my 24 Hr. SAR pack, which I have used for five years as a volunteer with Central Okanagan Search & Rescue in British Columbia, Canada.
The pack itself is the Kigali 35L made by Traverse Rescue.
I heard something interesting years ago and I've always followed that rule. if you are ever going to use a load-bearing carabiner make sure every carabiner you carry is load-bearing.you never can tell when you're going to be in a rescue situation that turns complex and you use far more carabiners than you originally thought you'd need.
That's a great suggestion, especially if you're working in the dark, or need to have someone else fetch your gear. Everything is just so much simpler if they're all load-bearing.
Great tip. Will file for later.
5:30 Some guys are watch guys, knife guys, flashlight guys....this guy is a glove guy. 🤣
Europa Chronicles and a carabiner guy
Very well thought out & organized. I appreciate your service to your community!
Looks good. I like your video. For the low weight I'dd toss a couple bics into a couple freezer bags. I carry flint and steel and stuff too, but it's hard to beat the simplicity and reliability of a bic lighter.
Always good to invest in equipment for emergency and survival packs...for the adventurous and the survivalist.
Great gear
Mclovin is a hero.
Good SAR load out thanks for sharing ATB
Nicely done. I just purchased the same pack. Can’t wait to use it.
Some really good tips. Gotta check that paracord storing technique, makes sense the color as well. Gonna add a reflective vest to my kit, good idea.
Great tutorial video👍
Good educational video thanks
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I would also carry a NVG monocular.
This is the bag that my SAR team uses as the basic first aid pack.
I just watched your video and I liked it. I do have a few questions....How come you donot carry any MRE type foods, Where is your flashlight and gerber style tool and good pocket knife? Thanks for th evideo and have a good day
Thank you! I'm glad you found the video useful. I carry a Leatherman and SOG Seal Pup on my belt. My flashlight is typically attached to my chest radio harness.
pencil starter is a pro tip ;)
Thanks for the video! Very informative
Very well thought out
I would challenge you that you don’t need that many pairs of gloves
Elastic bands degrade over time. Look for silicone bands.
Great video.
Thank you for those tips!
what chest rig do you use?
I use a Coaxsher RCP-1 Pro Radio Chest Harness, and love it! It works extremely well for carrying the essentials in addition to a radio and GPS.
SAR tech senate anyone? I would like to learn...
Excellent suggestion! That's a video I've been putting off for way too long.
@@ephraimnowak
Looking forward to it.
how old are you
I would add a Bic lighter and mre
flashlight?
That's a good question! I keep a Petzl MYO headlamp and spare batteries in my pack, but also carry a Fenix PD35 on my helmet as well as a Fenix E20 in my radio chest harness.
@@ephraimnowak i love headlamps but sometimes its easier to use a handheld flashlight. i use laser genetics nd-5 flashlight. it was built for sar too military specs and it shines 3 miles but it is very small. runs on 2 cr123a.
No tourniquet..................
Was it maybe inside the small first aid kit? If not, I agree it's something he should have.
@@toebeans6568 You only carry what your trained for. A SAR team will typically have that as part of their group gear carried by the team field medic.
@@Kalendale that makes total sense, I didn't think of that.
My guy likes caribeeners
Take more first aid kit, and...A fire-arm. Wounded humans attract predators.
Can't legally carry a handgun in Canada, small shotgun or rifle maybe, but it's not a typical SAR tool
I’m guessing you need a better knife. Not sure about the one you showed but, as a knife guy, it doesn’t look legit. Get an esee or something.
