    When you designate the target as a mark point, "lase" the target before marking it. The laser will eliminate any trig errors and the maverick should slew onto the target "spot on". It used to be lased in the real jet, I believe it works in the sim also. These are good videos, with techniques that make the A10 a potent machine, thanks.:-)

    Excellent video. Very well done. This totally cleared up using mark points for me. Most people leave out the need to reslave each new mav once the previous one is off the rail. Thank you!

    I think the reason of your markpoint mistake is laser mode of TGP,when you set it to IR,it will create a markpoint on the top of him or wherever your tgp is looking at.
    This mistake is common because you are flying on low heights,and your Angle of attack.
    Great vid,really helped me!
    Cheers!

    All of your many, many videos are absolutely awesome, Your videos have been terrifically helpful to me. You have a great voice and have mastered the fine art of taking topics which are detailed and confusing and breaking them down into concise logical steps, which make sense, are interesting, and are easy to follow. Your videos have spared me hours of frustration and made this game much more enjoyable for me. Thank You very, very much.

    Very good tutorial, and very much appreciated.....I shall now go forth and try to replicate the procedure, and hopefully with practice, get somewhere nearer to taking out multiple targets in a single run in. Thanks again (Comrade Vodka)

    A most excellent tutorial gerry. I'm just coming to grips with the DCS A-10 myself and will use this and others from you to supplement my training. Thanks for the work put into this stuff.

    That big offset from mark point to target you have in the end of video - because you do it without laser ranging. See youtube video from user "ExcessiveHeadspace" named "DCS A-10C Ground Attack With The Targeting Pod" to make it clear to understand. And huge thanks to you for such an excellent tutorial. Please, keep them going! Cheers!

    Nice tutorial!
    Regarding the offset, yes the laser is probably one remedy. Another one which I normally use is to aim the TGP at the base of the target, rather than straight at it, when setting SPI. It also works great for JD*M (profanity filter on) targeting. I suspect that in real world, the laser would do better, but in a sim like this the computer totally knows where any given spot on the ground is located... :)

    Yes, "ExcessiveHeadspace's" videos are amazing. Pity he's gone away, Even at the early beta stage, he had such a detailed grasp of the complexity of the sim. His landing tutorial is the best i've seen.
    BTW, ive updated the annotation re the use of laser during marking.

    Note that you can change between the point systems (Flightplan, Mark points, Mission) on your UFC (up front control) too. Therefore click "FNC" and then the numbers, for example "8" for Mark points. A lot quicker especially if you have already mapped the keyboard actions since you then don't need to look behind at the CDU. Also the CDU repeater for the MFD is very helpful when entering coordinates.

    The offset was because when the mark point was created it was created on the ground not on the vehicle than you came at it from a different angle. In order to create it on the vehicle you need to turn on your laser before you make the markpoint. You seem to have the tip pop up about turning on the laser but that is what essentially happens.
    Good video.

    With HUD as SOI and Mark point A selected and set as SPI, china hat forward long slaves MAV to SPI, then china hat forward short sets MAV as SOI. TMS forward short to lock and then fire. Collie hat up short, set HUD as SOI, DMS up to cycle to next waypoint, then repeat from china hat forward long to slave MAV to SPI. That's the way I currently do it and its a bit too much. Setting the lever on the thrust master warthog as modifier and TMS up/down to cycle steerpoint sounds like a good idea :-)

  • @gerryabbott
    @gerryabbott  11 років тому

    No. But what i do is move the cursor a long away from the action or flight plan, and make make a set of marks here, this removes them from their current location. (you have to go through the 26 clicks,or more if u need to restart at A), its no biggie timewise. Then you can start again marking where you want to.

    Is there an easy way to clear/delete mark points? During long missions I tend to use a lot between designating targets and accidentally hitting tms right.

    Good video. Question: How do I go from one mark point to the next for bomb drop?

    • @gerryabbott
      @gerryabbott  10 років тому

      Rock the steerpoint rocker switch on left of UFC panel, Steerpoint 'dial' below the EGI is in mark mode. (its not part of the official hotas controls, but i have it mapped to my hotas).

    • @cesarango01
      @cesarango01 10 років тому

      Gerry Abbott Thanks. I have tried that but they keep hitting the same spot after I create the MP's with the TGP.

    • @gerryabbott

      you also gotta hold TMS aft to make your current mark point the SPI.

    • @zakovich
      @zakovich 10 років тому +1

      Gerry Abbott Isnt DMS Up/Down (short) the same as the UFC steerpoint rocker switch if your HUD is SOI?

    • @dexterfalgout6797
      @dexterfalgout6797 10 років тому

      Zak Ovich Correct.

  • @mhe0815
    @mhe0815 12 років тому

    The offset in markpoint C stems from the fact that the TGP takes it's line of sight vector and intersects it with the 3D terrain model in it's database when you create a markpoint without lasing (laser provides range in addition to vector which is a single point in space). So the higher the target is above the ground relative to the 3D model of the terrain in the nav DB, the higher the offset will be. You'll aim too far.
    tl;dr: Always lase when designating targets for quick successive killing.

    Is there a way to remove unneeded marks from list?

    • @gerryabbott
      @gerryabbott  9 років тому

      GBZanafar No, but when you have created a full set, it starts over and early ones get overwritten (can remember how many might be the alphabet.). What i do to create a 'clean slate' is go to a part of the map far away and make the mark points there, until it cycles back to 'A' again, then i pan back to where i wish to put the new markers. I hope that makes sense.

    I know this is a bit cheaty, but I own the TM warthog Hotas, and using the pinky lever as a modifier i have made it so DMS is my slew instead of that stupid stick thing on the throttle, and TMS up and down with the pinky lever is steer point up and down.
    Not realistic I know but I loathe having to constantly move my hand to my mouse to select a new steer point.

    • @Proximax9
      @Proximax9 8 років тому +1

      +Shini I usually just switch my HUD as SOI, then hit DMS up to change my steerpoint, then just swith SOI back to my TGP/MAV. Doesnt take too much time and allows me to HOTAS all day ;)

    • @cryonisc
      @cryonisc 6 років тому

      And I think this is the way its supposed to be right?
      In addition, DMS UP when HUD is SOI cycles the same way as the video mentioned the rocker switch on the UFC panel?
