The smile you get from driving is worth whatever you have to pay, plus you also make everyone else smile. That's what I'm seeing as well, but a portion of that is inflation. There's always the MR2 Spyder, BMW Z3, MX-5, and Boxter...and Alfa Romeo 4C... okay the last one is same price. For me, an older Elise is way way too close to the price of a new C8 Corvette...meaning-- why would pay 50-60k for an Elise (albeit a brilliant car) when you can get a C8 for a few more bottle caps... Doesn't make sense. I see a lot of used inventory at high prices, but I don't see it moving quickly. I think everyone is hopping on the band wagon of "oh my old car is worth a lot more, so I'll put it for sale at big price." Supply/Demand will be the ultimate judge. Love the Elise, though. There was hope at 30k, not at 50k + for me. A dream car.

Best move I ever made with my vehicle driving .BTW, for 2 years and daily driving, I had no problems with this wonderful car. Just depends on what Lotus you got!
For sure the closest thing to a street legal go cart with body panels, that Lotus is also one of the more reliable and cost effective cars for the performance it delivers. If you can get past the livability of it, and you don't have to commute with it, there aren't many other cars out there that can deliver what it can for the price.
Ive always loved this car! Its adorable. Sadly I cant get all 240 pounds of me in and out of it without hvg to put my hands on the road to pull myself out💔 i hope they make a larger one or atleast do something about that thick frame!
Nagging about getting in and out when the roof is off 🙄 I’ve had one of those, first time getting out (with roof) was probably the least dignified moment of my life.
They aren't that cheap or easy to tune. A SC install will cost 1000s. You will likely need an aftermarket ECU as well since Lotus use their own ECUs and it can be a pain, not many people know how to work with it outside of UK specialists. A supercharger is highly recommended over a turbo as a few turboed cars have overheated and gone up in flames.
It's the "super car" for the rest of us, no doubt; I have a 2006 Elise with 43000 on it. I put in the digital dash (recommended by Lotus as an after-market mod BTW) and a cold-air induction system. Not much else I really need to do. There's a reason this car saved Lotus.

@@ElliottAlvis absolutely, & if you ever rent another Lotus or buy one you can do a video of the majestic entry & exit of the Lotus Elise!!! Thanks Elliott for sharing all your fun adventures!! 🤓
@@ElliottAlvis Something to look forward to when you finally get your own!
actually, I'm 6'3" and I owned a '88 Lotus Turbo Esprit. I loved that car, but it was the most uncomfortable I have ever owned. I sold it and bought a Porsche '80 SC . Best move I ever made with my vehicle driving .BTW, for 2 years and daily driving, I had no problems with this wonderful car. Just depends on what Lotus you got!
I would love one of them so much
They live up to the hype!
Elliott was a Lexus owner. I’m intrigued. That gen? 250? 350? F?
2nd Gen IS250 AWD. Best daily I’ve had other than the Prius!
For sure the closest thing to a street legal go cart with body panels, that Lotus is also one of the more reliable and cost effective cars for the performance it delivers. If you can get past the livability of it, and you don't have to commute with it, there aren't many other cars out there that can deliver what it can for the price.
You’re absolutely right. This might be the best possible weekend/2nd car to own.
@@ElliottAlvis there is a Lotus up on Cars and Bids right now, turbo charged. Just in case you are in the market for one right now:)
Man that looks amazing in red! 1 of the few id own in red
Okay Elliott - you have driven the 2004 Mini Cooper S and now this Lotus. I have been casually looking at the Lotus. Compare the two - if you can.
The Lotus is better in every way. But it’s also 5-6 times as expensive as a 2004 Mini.
I have always wanted one of those , to see Jacob in it I know I can fit now 😂😂😵💫😂
Start shopping! They are great little cars.
Ive always loved this car! Its adorable. Sadly I cant get all 240 pounds of me in and out of it without hvg to put my hands on the road to pull myself out💔 i hope they make a larger one or atleast do something about that thick frame!
Nagging about getting in and out when the roof is off 🙄
I’ve had one of those, first time getting out (with roof) was probably the least dignified moment of my life.
Oh for sure!
Seriously, one of these with 70-100 more horsepower worth of parts would be amazing and not too expensive.
Exactly! The supercharger is exactly what this car needed.
It’s an absolutely amazing car. Glad yours has been treating you well. Thanks for watching!
@@ElliottAlvis I drive mine to work, and about twice a year from LV up to UT to see the folks-wants to run about 5500/85mph. It is the "touring version" so is a little less "raced up" :)
My S2 doesn't sqeak or rattle, or have parts falling off. That is definitely a rental thing. They haven't looked after it properly.
I like this Power Wheels. It almost looks like a real car
“This is a car you would want to ride in with your close friends” 😂😂😂😂
yeah, Elliott looks like a guy who likes and drives OPELS, literally (lotus-opel clon)
Ha, I actually would love to have the Vauxhall version once they become available.
@@ElliottAlvis i, knew it!
Opel Lotus Omega... i want one!!
@@ElliottAlvis Did you know the Vauxhall has the same engine as your dead Malibu ;-)
One thing it isn't is a supercar, an upholstered kart maybe. But when you think the English guy schmee was driving his Ford GT in the U.S & lots of people thought it was a Ferrari.
I personally would say the mclaren f1 has the largest door sill (since its center drivers seat and have to crawl over passengers)
04:00 - wait, so you mean my 10 day road trip with SWMBO wasn't even possible? :D
great car elliot
Thanks buddy!
Getting one of these and swapping it with a k20
I’d interested to see how this does next to the bug eyed sprite. My boss has an Evora. Nice car. If you think lotus is tight with a 4 cylinder the 6 is just bonkers.
I bet the Evora is awesome!
Since you and Jacob have been friends almost all your life, the inadvertent leg touch doesn't mean anything. But you probably owe him a soda.
😂 you’re probably right Paul
lol. the sliding seat just added a few more points to it for you i bet
That was a game changer! Lol
What a nice cool car!!!!
Gonna get me one of those at Lotus Upland.
shut down
That was a nice video thanks. One thing you forgot to mention, what does it cost to rent something like this from Toro? Let your viewers know. Best wishes
Ah, good call! I can’t believe I missed that. 🤦🏻♂️
@@ElliottAlvis you said you missed telling us that, and your response did not answer either?!
Get a lotus/caterham 7 , less comfortable and more crazy . you may like them .
Amazing car so much fun! I wish they were still $30k! Just bought an 2005 with the sport package, factory hard top and soft top, and 21,000 miles but paid $50k for it
I suspect that you will find that the roadholding and cornering abilities are outstanding....but you didn't try that...
Wow, it's happy Elliott from before Tyler ruined his life with the Volvo! :)
😂😂😂
Well done motory notary, make sure you don't break it, or blow it up.😆☺😁👍🇺🇲🇺🇲
