I had been a big fan and user of the EQ since it came out last year and was intrigued by the EX but didn't think I needed to get it initially. After reading/watching all the rave reviews about the sound quality (which is by far the most important factor for me), I decided to take the plunge although I waited until the Black Anthracite color became available. I've had the EX for almost 3 weeks now and I can definitely say that it's the best pair of ANC earbuds I've ever had and I've owned a *LOT* over the years: Sennheiser, Sony, and Master & Dynamic, to name a few, as well as the EQ over the past 10 months. I was never a fan of the AirPods' stem/stick design but understood the ergonomics and the practicality of it. The EX looks great and it is, by far, the most comfortable set of earbuds I have tried on. I didn't find the EQ uncomfortable as I have fairly large ear canals but it did still tend to move around during physical activities like running, hiking, racquetball, etc., which I do on a daily basis. The EX has no such issues at all and stays put no matter what I do and that was huge for me considering that I'm a physical fitness freak who exercises 3~4 hours per day - sometimes more, going on 20-mile runs on the mountain trails. As for the sound quality, I really thought that the EQ would be very difficult to improve upon but it did lack power and I often had to max out the volume, especially on some of the older recordings that have weak output. Also, although I am by no means a bass head, I thought the EQ's bass was a little lackluster on modern pop, EDM, and rock/metal tracks. Thinking about these things, it really did seem the EX can be an improvement over the EQ even though I was very happy with it. Now that I've had some extensive quality time with the EX, I can unequivocally say that the EX is a big improvement over the EQ in many ways: comfort, look (especially since it fits flush in your ears and not stick out like the EQ), touch controls (one less tap for the different functions), and the overall sound quality. I think the EQ sounds a little more spacious or diffuse than the EX, which can be preferable for certain genres like classical, jazz, and ambient electronic but the soundstage of the EX is bigger and deeper and I get the sense that I'm closer to the instruments and voices. With the EQ, I feel like I'm sitting further back in the middle of the venue in relation to the stage where the music is being performed. With the EX, I feel like I'm much closer like within the first few rows or even right on the stage. The clarity and definition are about the same between the EQ and the EX but the EX has noticeably more power, is a good deal punchier, and has a bigger and stronger bass without being obtrusive. I didn't think I really needed more bass and punch but, man, once you hear and feel them, there's no going back. Even with classical and jazz, the extra bass makes all the instruments sound fuller and more pleasing to the ears without losing any brightness, shimmer, and presence that I always found vital for such genres. This sonic characteristic sold me on the EX once and for all. I knew right then that the EX is my number one now. As for the ANC, yes, it's not comparable to the Sony WF-1000XM4 I had for a while but the Sony was very uncomfortable and I did not like the sound signature of it at all despite all the tweaking I tried on its very flexible equalizer. I have always used the Comply foam tips on all of my earbuds and I got the TrueGrip TWR-200-B × 2 in large size to get a virtually airtight fit in my ear canals. This provides superb passive noise isolation on its own. Combined with the EX's "mediocre" ANC (or "poor" as some have been complaining), I find the noise reduction is on par with the Sony at the noisy gym and on the racquetball court where the bouncing ball can get deafening loud. To me, the ANC thing is a non-factor. With the tight fit of the Comply foam tips, I can block out most of the noise for most environments and situations. For air travel, I use the B&O H95 over-ears and you have to use over-ears for the plane noise. I very rarely use earbuds for phone calls (actually I hardly use the phone for calls at all!) so I can't say much about the mic quality. I also like that the function touch controls require one less tap each for play/stop, forward/backtrack, and ANC than the EQ. The only thing I don't like about the EX compared to the EQ is the size of the case. The EX's case is a little too bulky for pants pockets. I wish that it was a little thinner even if that meant making the case a little wider. But, other than this quibble, the EX, to me, is a significant improvement over the EQ. As much as I love the EQ, I can't justify keeping it around since I'm now only using the EX. It's what I reach for whenever I go out. Very happy with the EX. It pretty much checks all the boxes for me and what I use ANC earbuds for.

@@Midaus They are really too different to recommend to say pick one over the other. It really depends on the usage cases like the environments and situations you are in. That's why I have both. The over-ears will always sound bigger and wider simply due to the placement of the ear cups and the drivers. The in-ears will always sound like the sound is "inside-of-your-skull" while the over-ears will be much closer to the natural outside-of-your-head speakers-like presentation. I need the EX for running, hiking, gym, walking, and daily commutes. The H95 just wouldn't be good for these activities. But, for travel in the plane which I recently did across the country, the H95 is a must as the ANC is much more effective in blocking out the plane noise and it's also much more comfortable for long listening sessions. So, my best advise is to get both but if you can only get one, you have to consider when, where, and how you will use it the great majority of your time. If you are going to just use one for listening at home on your sofa/bed for extended sessions, then it's the H95. If you will be using it on the move a lot and portability and mobility are important factors, then the EX. Sorry I can't say choose one over the other. It really depends on what your usage case. Great review bro. Spot on. I have both EX and EQ and the difference in sound quality is noticeable. Both are world class, clean sounding earbuds but the extra power and bass in EX nails it 🔥🔥🔥
I have both and want to prefer the EX as love the for and voice call pickup. Bass is definitly stronger on the EX but I find the highs harsher and not comfortable.. I think the EQ sound is better balanced. I also prefer the soundstage on the EQ. The EQ case is also more pocketable
Also it is mentioned that the sound stage isn't as good at the same volume level. To get the equivalent decibels , the EQ has to be higher than the EX (maybe due to the smaller driver) but sounds better when at equivelt volume. This can be 20 more on my s21 ultra
The touch controls on the EQ are awful, I want to turn them off. Each time I adjust the fit of the bud when in my ear I do accidental touches...volumes going up/down, music stop or skipping tracks, driving me crazy. The ANC is borderline unusable in outdoor conditions due to sensitivity to wind noise.

The touch area is too big and too sensitive in a bad way. It does something when you don't want it too and doesn't when you do. Because of this I score them 5/10. Because the ex just came out, i can get the EQ's for a bargain. Basically 270 euros for the EQ's, compared to 250 euros for the TW3's. In terms of best sound quality and volume, which one should i go for? Thanks!
I' ve just bought the EX for 290 Euro in Germany from Hi-fi Klubben 😊😊😊😊😊. I'm a happy guy now. They sold off two presentation ear buds and thought yes I take the deal.
If you have the chance to wear them before buying do the obvious and do it. I have the EX and I admit the quality is top notch but I don’t think it fits me well. It hurts my ears after 1 hour of wearing…

Therefore, in perceived loudness they are 2x as loud, and in "power output" they are 6x as "powerful"

Hey yeah they are perfect but the bang and olufsen support are a perfect as...ho... i have my earphones there for the warranty as they were damaged for the last 7 weeks and still nothing, getting default messages with always the same answer but no resolution and a lot of people are in the same situation waiting for the last 3 months to have a replacement under their warranty. Piece of advice you can be lucky and not need them but if you need support from them. You are not going to be happy. Dont buy from them
The EX has much more accurate bass than the the Quietcomforts. But Bose earbuds are a bass forward earbud, so it always generates more bass. If you predominantly listen to bass heavy tracks then the Bose would be good

Yeah the ANC isn’t great in these, but the sound quality more than makes up for that. Plenty of earbuds out there that have great ANC like Bose and Sony. But neither of them are in the same league as Bang & Olufsen in the sound quality department. Beoplay EX and EQ are a different beast altogether with their clean, pristine signature sound. Simply world class
I use large Comply foam tips to get airtight fit and get excellent passive noise isolation. Combining this with the "mediocre" ANC of the EX, I find that the noise reduction is on par with the Sony WF-1000XM4 I had for a while. The EX's ANC on its own with the silicone tips really isn't that good. They key is using Comply foam tips to get a tight fit. The Comply foam tips also sound a lot, and I mean a *LOT*, better than the silicone tips. You get a much fuller sound without losing any clarity or definition.
Sedna earfit max makes my EX more quite, comfortable without noticeable sound signature change. Use the standard version earfit max. Best eartips. Period
