Thanks so much Anthony! I have been considering doing some new videos with the Spark. It was my first drone and it is still so much fun to fly. Quite capable too. Cheers!
Yeah, Match Colour can be pretty handy. Sometimes it does an absolute horrible job but most times it's pretty good. You can always adjust on top of it so many times I will just use it to get me in the ballpark.
Nice video Steve I like so much your contents! Im really interested to slow to the cinematic "24fps" and how it really change the footage! Please make a video explication of this!
I did a video on slowing your Spark footage down using a 24p timeline almost a year ago. Here is the link - ua-cam.com/video/sDd0deJFlqk/v-deo.html. Hopefully that helps clear it up. 😀
I will never juse this type off high technology movie tricks but nice to see what is possible when you master the buttons great movie greets from a spark noob haha
Good video Steve, very helpful for people that use finalcutpro, sadly I don't I use filmora, I've not posted them yet but my videos I try to keep natural and unedited colour wise, but my videos are for personal use, haha plus being colour blind if I start editing colours who knows what I'd get.. All I want to learn to do better is keep my footage from being over saturated and exposed.. Happy flying 👍
Thanks! I use a very light touch when editing. Spark footage comes with a lot of saturation and contrast by default but sometimes it needs a bit of help. Over time your eye starts to see colour shifts. Like anything, it takes practice.
Hi Steve.. I came across your channel recently and it has been a good find. Well thought and detailed out videos. I wanted to pick your brain on how to work with increasing the dynamic range of the Spark camera. i have usually noticed while doing landscapes if there is greenery on the bottom half, the sky gets blow out with no details. Same things happens while shooting in other conditions too. Any suggestions on how to capture more dynamic range with the Spark?
Thank you. You can't increase the dynamic range although some like to suggest that you can. If you expose so that the sky is blown out, you will not be able to recover that detail in post. Same goes for shadow areas if it's underexposed to the point of being black and having no detail. You can play around with curves or exposure adjustments in post where you selectively increase or decrease highlight, mid-tone or shadow areas but there is only so much latitude before that starts looking unnatural. You just have to be careful with your exposures when shooting. Expose for your subject. 😀
@@SteveCoutts yep, I have been doing something similar so far. I thought to check with you if there are some tips/tricks which I am not aware of. I think Spark is missing the flat profile which some of the other cameras might have. Thanks for taking the time to reply, hope to see more videos soon!
Hey Steve, bit of a late bloomer to this video. In this video at say 30 seconds, I noticed that the video image quality is a bit scratchy and wavey.. I am having this trouble at the moment. I usually just take the video from the Go 4 app then from the image gallery on my phone. I'm sorta new to all the editing stuff, but do I have to change everything to get a clean video? I haven't yet dealt with getting too involved. I have a DJI Spark also... Thanks heaps, I'll watch the rest of the video and see what you do...
Haha! Yeah, it's a pretty old video. If you're talking about the screen capture bits in my video, they don't look very good. It's due to refresh rate and quality of the video transmission from Spark to my iPhone. I skimmed through other bits of the video and it looked fine to me. Did that help?
I don't take too many photos with the Spark but when I do, I use auto and just touch the screen to set spot exposure from that spot. I always have the histogram on to make sure the exposure looks good. With video, I am always in manual mode. Manual exposure and manual white balance. If you're not comfortable with manual exposure, just double-tap the centre of the screen to lock the exposure so it doesn't fluctuate. Experiment, practice and most importantly, have fun! Good luck and have a great trip! 😀
Hi Steven i just bought a Spark and i think it has a problem with the video footage. The video footage has this Choppy lines and doesn't look good. Any bright idea's from your end??
Yikes! Off the top of my head no. I have never experienced an issue like you are describing. If you just bought it, you should get in touch with DJI support.
That really doesn't make any sense. The footage cached to you phone or tablet is 720p and footage written to your SD should be 1080p. I have never encountered this issue before but my first thought was to try a different SD card. If you have a different SD card, format it with your Spark before using it, just make sure you back up the SD card first if you have data on it. If that doesn't work I would try asking the question in the DJI Forums (forum.dji.com) as someone there may have seen it before. Failing that you could try DJI Support and maybe they can offer some help. Good luck!
I don't know how to do any drone repairs. I would look on UA-cam to see if you can find some help. Lots of folks just buy the parts and repair their drones themselves. You may also want to post a query in the DJI Forums (forum.dji.com) to see if others can give advice. Good luck!
I love that you're still using the spark I love my spark!
Yup! Love my Spark! 👍
You are the King of Spark tips !
Haha! Thanks!
Long time no see. Good to see you back. I'm still in love with my Spark.

Thanks Steve, always appreciate your tips. I use the Spark but have never played with those settings, until now, thanks.
Nice one Steve, I didn’t even know about the Match colour feature. Another lesson learned!

some more great tips. Even for us adobe pro users. 👌
Thanks! I had you in mind for two of the non-editing tips at the beginning - speed/proximity to subject and gimbal speed. 👍

Absolutely. Stay tuned! 😀

Thanks for asking. April was a very hectic month. Something had to give and sadly it was UA-cam. Back at it now though! 👍

👍👍👍👍
30 fps on a 24 fps timeline is not a good thing if you don't slow down everything. You are going to have a frame jump when you are real time.
I'm quite picky and I don't find it to be an issue. Of course, like anything, your mileage will vary.
I love my spark. i don't want to spend my money to buy/add an expensive drone like dji mavic or the others because dji spark is enough
I completely agree. 👍
