there’s something so viscerally terrifying about an oompa loompa being described as a “harvester”

@@zacharykim295 there's videogames,doubt so
@@zacharykim295 If I recall, the book takes place in the 1920s. But I might be wrong. It's definitely way back in the day though. And if you're wondering, Mike Teevee in the book was obsessed with mafia gangster movies, instead of tv. The Gene Wilder movie definitely changed the time period, since they made it take place in the 70s, at the same time it came out. And the Tim Burton adaptation seems to be in the modern day.
“Was this someone’s childhood game and they were like… so into it”
I was 8 Arin! I WAS 8
It was very fun and interesting.
Don't worry I played shit when I was 8 too
@T H yeah but then you’ve got Where’s Waldo and Jelly Boy
Me too, i remember playing through it in one sitting the day my mom brought it home, thinking it must be a cult classic.
I still play it from time to time for nostalgia, or because it randomly appears in my closet and I feel I have no other choice
I had it for the gamecube. But i didn't beat it cause i was lost.
It's great how Charlie looks like his entire skeleton is about to snap every time he picks up a box, he's really playing up the British rickets.
See that would make sense if it was based off the original but it's the remake so it's American.
SO WHY DOES HE STILL HAVE THE SHITTY VICTORIAN HOUSE!?!? ANSWER ME TIM BURTON THE RESTRAINING ORDER HAS RUN OUT!
There is nothing I wouldn't give to see them play a poptropica series
Never thought of that but I definitely agree
You have re-awakened wonderful Poptropica nostalgia inside of me. Bless you truly

I love how he had ten dollars but Charlie is canonically British
This is probably one of my favorite movies but as a kid and even now I am still confused of what era this movie is in and what country because there are American and British accents in Charlie’s town, even Willy has an American accent. Lol 😂

I almost said 'the new one' and realized I can't do that anymore. It's not the new one anymore.
I love how resigned Arin and Dan are when it comes to the games they play. They're just like "sure, we might as well do this"
I worry that they arent really enjoying doing game grumps and don't really care what they play
ye
I mean, even their momentary agony is lucrative so...
Plus, they play some of this shit so no one else has to.
It's not like they could choose to play better games 🤔
And then it just turns out to be a normal 3d platformer/puzzle game from the ps2/gamecube era.
that impression of johnny depp's willy wonka is actually pretty damn good
I looked it up for some reason lol, it's James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi from The Clone Wars)

I straight up just thought they were using the sound from the movie for it in the beginning

30:31 "I never caused problems when I was a child; I waited till I was an adult."
That line is a huge mood and I'm pissed that Arin missed it.
Loudly burping over the punchline tends to make one miss it. Alas, such are Arin's ways.
I can only hope he wasn't like that when he was a child...
If anything, Arin burping during the line delivery makes it even better
😂😂😂😂😂
I didn't even hear that second part
And at 12:01 was such an easy grandpa joe prostitute joke that they totally missed
Fun fact: all the characters were voiced by the original cast except for Johnny Depp. So that really IS the late Sir Christopher Lee voicing the narrator
No, it’s actually Geoffrey Holder from the original. But I see why you would say that since they sound similar.
Although, Willy Wonka was voiced by James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi in clone wars)
@@mysixthscaleobsession The man has range

What was so irrational about it? It made perfect sense.
I played this as a kid and it was one of the weirdest fever dream experiences of my life. I even encountered a bug that made me randomly skip several chapters for no reason.
What about a bug that gave you EVERY achievement upon loading the disk in the very first time fresh from the box, I have seen those games before. I didn't earn them, so I got rid of the games that did that to me.

I’m embarrassed to admit this but this was my childhood game I remember playing this for hours on my game cube as a little kid and I’m honestly feeling so nostalgic watching this
Why are you embarrassed, this game ruled.
as a brit, the most confusing part of this, is watching Charlie run after ten bucks like it's money
They just skipped the part where Charlie walks two hours to the nearest currency exchange.
He’s poor
Dang, that's the most excited I've seen out of arin doing an ad read
Grandpa Joe's sloppy toppy tips are making me giggly. Thank you guys.
The bit about Grandpa Joe giving sloppy blowies to strangers in an alley to make money to buy chocolate made me laugh a lot harder, for a lot longer, than I ever could've imagined.
Arin gathers all the Oompa Loompas and says "Let me tell you two magic words. Collective bargaining"
According to the lore about the oompahs, it was working at a chocolate factory or continue dying off as prey to the local beasts.
Also, them not being formally brought into the country makes them illegal immigrants, which opens up all kinds of legal doors.
The Wally Wonka shuts down the entire factory, opens a new one down the block, and brings on a whole different set of Oompa Loompas
Arin saying "factory" brought up memories of Milton's Milton factory. Hope that guys still in business.
That's a _"Two Steves"_ tier deep cut right there.
This is the energy my exam-dead brain needed today
Hope your exams went well!
Best of luck.

This engine/art style gives me big Pyschonauts vibes. I really think a playthrough of that would pop off. They could have soo much banter with that game

Hearing dan say _tenouttaten_ fills me with so much joy it's indescribable.
I'd love to see dan and arin play through the entire game, this game was an amazing part of my childhood.
The fact they don’t question why it’s an American $10 bill in England perturbs me
Does anyone remember in the Gene Wilder 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' movie when Charlie finds the ticket and all those adults try to steal it off him? And the Candyman has to help him get out of the shop so he can run home? That part always stressed me out as a kid.
5:30 - Arin accidentally disables autosave. This bodes well.
10:59- What the hell is in those chocolate bars? Charlie looks like he just got possessed by a demon!
I remember playing this back in elementary school. Im glad I’m not the only one who didn’t know what to do when playing this. But don’t worry Arin, it gets even more frustrating later on😅

Holy shit Angela Anaconda
That unlocked some deep memories in me, I haven't thought about that weird-looking show in so long lmao
I had this game as a kid and it's so vindicating to see someone else be completely confused about this level like I was
Arin skipping through instructions and then getting pissed when he doesnt know what is going on will never get old.
And repeating the same ineffective action over and over until Dan says "Maybe this doesn't work how you seem to think it works..." which then usually leads to Arin figuring out what he is actually supposed to do. But then he rants about how stupid the game is while the game is explaining what to do in the next part.
@@shartnerd and it never gets old 😂
Yes yes it does.
If it makes you feel better, Arin, I didn't know what to do to get past this part of the game when I was 7.
“Charlie, do you like movies about gladiators?” took me by surprise but had me laughing nonetheless.
That happened as soon as I read this
Wait.... I'm so confused. I thought this game took place in the UK. Why is Charlie chasing a dollar bill then? Did I miss the part of the game where he goes to find an exchange office for an hour?
Ah. Yet another 40 minutes of Arin being bested by a tutorial mostly because h wasn’t paying attention. This is the content I subscribe for.
As children my sister used to play this on the gamecube with dad, we have fond memories of it EDIT: My sister is in fact that person who's childhood game it was and we were super into it, though not as into it as Ratatouille for the Wii (specifically the sewer racing part)
I loved playing the ratatouille game on the ps2. The sewer racing part is one of the first things I think of, that, and the giant fruit part. Those movie games and the harry potter one are such fever dreams.
Why is nobody talking about the fact that willy wonka said "they are the best workers a cocoa bean can buy" ONE COCOA BEAN TO BUY A PERSON?! Did I mention that this is a kids game?
I LOVED this game when I was a kid, found it again and bought it last year for like .50c at a used game store, it was a wild trip lmao
