Got to say...I like it. It’s a different design from all the other rather placid designs that are out there right now.
That was a great interview, respectful but both of you didn't hold back. I really like the plain blue dial 3 hand. I own a few Royal Oaks, so I will likely fall into the minority. Certainly looking forward to seeing them in person at the NYC AP boutique in February.
Didn't expect AP to fall into the 'social media' fashion watch trend. How far the mighty have fallen, hopefully this watch tanks in sales and they will get their heads out of their asses, especially those not only who designed it but those who gave it the seal of approval.

Exact same thought process as daniel wellington and vincero, yes they sell, as im sure th 1159 will aswell, but it will be forgotten soon, will probably see the same fate as those 31mm lady datejust you see everywhere in rolex AD. Why not work on the design instead of defending your obviously failed product?
It was just launched... it's clearly not well designed. But instead of ripping it apart, we should say: Finally, something else than the Royal Oak but you need to improve the designs...

AP lives and dies by the Royal Oak so its no wonder they are just milking the Royal Oak design they don't have anything else and the code 11.59 is sub part to ok
What 19 - 25 years old age group have 15k - 20k grand to spend on the watch. Most adults are priced out of the market! Hahahaha
Hate to say FHB is delusional, the Royal Oak and Offshore will be their bane, they cannot get away from that look. This is AP and will always be.

It's not a good sign when somebody has to explain the design of a watch. A beautiful watch design should speak for itself.
FHB is a fantastic salesman and has mastered the art of smoke and mirrors. A tasteful designer? Not so much..

Deep down they know that they have invested huge amounts of time and money developing some awful looking new timepieces that have been received poorly and probably regret it.
His whole demeanor is testament to that.

The positive feedback from some people on their 20s' may be related to fact the 11.59 looks like a Michael Kors designed watch. This guy doesn’t look like a CEO either (Btw, he should upgrade his leather jacket to a larger one, just to avoid people saying he borrowed it from his little brother).

I love Francois, but his whole tone/attitude during this interview was highly defensive, and with good reason.
The launch of the Royal Oak resurrected AP as a company. The launch of the 11.59 indicate the last minute AP is going to be respected as a watchmaker.
See it in the flesh and then condemn.
Great questions Mr. Koh! I was expecting you to ask how insensable it is two compare this line with the Royal Oak and I'm glad you did it. Mr. Bennahmias is an amazing guy; that is for sure but selling those out to people who get along with hype does not cover the fact that except the super sonnerie watch all others are near garbage. No need to talk like a sales-man here, some things are objective and it is objective opinion to state that time-only watches and that God Forbids chronograph line does not have any, any interesting thing on them.
AP's launching an in-house chronograph is not the biggest news of the industry. It is 2019 already! Who does not have that in the big ones, sir? If you've done it like Lange in 1999 it would've been hit. But sorry; nothing architecturally special, just a hi-end chronograph movement that this kind of brand should deliver at minimum expectations.
You do not need to "convince" everyone when your products is good enough; if you're saying this, then you already lost. However, we live in the world of hype and brand chasing rather than objective opinions. I'm one of those young guys that Mr. Bennahmias spoke about and I know who're those young guys. You can sell anything to a guy who wears a Gucci Sweatpants that Gucci written all over it. It is just about the brand's heritage and marketing, no special to the watches. So, they'll sell. This is not going to change the fact that except 2 pieces (QP and Super Sonnerie) the collection is currently no use.
Look Look!! A 19 year old said he likes it!!!! There is no escaping the fact that the aesthetics of this watch are disappointing. Look what Lange have released,.... and Jaeger! Astonishing looking pieces,... Nobody is disputing the build quality,.... we just expect something a little more special from such a prestigious brand.

Not sure about the 11.59, but I must have that leather jacket! Kidding aside, I hope these watches make it. It is obvious the CEO is passionate about his watches, and when you are passionate, you are bold. When you are bold, you succeed big or you fail big. All the best to AP. Look forward to owning one someday.

I think Wei Koh did a great job of interviewing the CEO under quite delicate circumstances. The CEO comes off poorly imo: churlish, condescending, and bellicose. I suspect with time this will pass but at present I have absolutely zero intention of purchasing anything from AP. I simply don't want to support their CEO.

I really don't agree with the comparisons between the reception of this launch, and the RO 50 years ago. The RO was polarizing because it looked NOTHING like anything else on the market, and created a completely new genre of watch. It was a true trail blazer. The 11.59 differs because it looks A LOT like lots of other "low end" watches on the market, at least dial side. I am a younger collector (31) and honestly nothing about this collection excites me. But that is just my opinion though. My taste definitely leans towards elegant and classic executions of "weird" design layouts, like the Lange 1, JLC Duometre, FP Journe etc...I don't want to pay 40+ K for a watch that dial side looks almost identical to a run of the mill fashion watch
It's normal a watch likes or not likes to someone. I think the quality of A.P watches is top of the top. For example, my favorite A.P is r.o 15202st but my wife...hates its design. About 1159, I think the white gold three hand, is the best. It would be good idea to launch it at stainless steel in future.

Months later and the FIASCO it's real. 11.59's can be found in all the windows of the AD's, because no one is buyin' them. They're STACKED right next to the blinged-out ladies AP 😂

The chronograph and the perpetual calendar are nice looking, the three hands looks boring and familiar to the eye. The dial is good but it didn’t blow my mind, I have mixed thoughts that I can’t put into words
I've never cared too much for Audemars Piguet besides the Royal Oak. I'm not saying their watches are bad or something like that, far from the reality but...I can not figure it out how their design team came out with that style. This is just my two cents, don't shoot me down please:), but in a world when you have let's say, thousands/millions/billions of EUR/USD/CHF/GBP, why spend the money that AP asks for these watches when you have Jaeger LeCoultre who produces everything better. Not to mention that you could buy the same design for less than 250 EUR/USD/CHF/GBP from a fashion brand like Armani or Fossil.
I'm sorry if my opinion is a little bit too harsh but let's be serious, if you want class elegance design and originality and everything that Mr. Bennahmais is mentioning time and time again when is giving an interview, a proper example should and would be companies like Jaeger LeCoultre, Patek, A. Lange und Sohne... That's where I would "invest" my money in:)
I have to say, I like the watch.
Not happy with the new look. It looks like they took a Mont Blanc Skywalker case, a German minimalist watch face, and their high end in house movement. The only thing I like is the movement.
Good god , the service cost for any perpetual calendar must be insane , but than again, if you can afford to buy , you can afford etc etc.........or , have it for length of warranty , and sell , at a loss ? , hopefully not , .......ignore this passage completely, just thinking out loud ....looking forward to Peter Speake-Marine taking it apart and back together on the Naked Watchmaker......all the best
The guy will the glasses think social media gave a perfect response to this new release. I trust that he posts stuff on the platfo but does check the aftermath. Hahaha. Even Calvin Klein and Hugo Boss provide better looking collection for way less money. This guy clearly needs to be sacked.
I think people are being overly critical of this watch. It not a bad looking watch, especially the tourbillion openworked.

I get their strategy, they are NOT appealing to the traditional AP client. They are looking to attract more conservative people to the brand. IMO Having said that, I also agree that the design is pretty damn boring. The nicest part is the lacquering.
They specifically made this watch to target the younger millennial crowd, AP is trying to do a Biver but only time will tell if they succeeded or not
