something about this song really puts time into perspective. I remember listening to Robbers a borderline unhealthy amount when I was a teenager- on my way to class, while reading and playing video games, on days I was too sad to crawl out of bed. And now having this spiritual successor to it, and knowing all the things I’m going to do while listening to it, how it’ll age alongside me just like it’s spiritual sister song did- it’s a bittersweet realization, but if I’m going to get older regardless of whether I want to or not, I could think of no better companion to have alongside me than the 1975’s music

    I know a place
It's somewhere I go when I need to remember your face
We get married in our heads
Something to do while we try to recall how we met
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten
    About you?
    You and I were alive
With nothing to do I could lay and just look in your eyes
    Wait and pretend
Hold on and hope that we'll find our way back in the end
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten
    About you?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten
    About you?
    [Bridge: Carly Holt, Matty Healy]
There was something about you that now I can't remember
It's the same damn thing that made my heart surrender
And I'll miss you on a train
I'll miss you in the morning
I never know what to think about
    I think about you
    About you
Do you think I have forgotten about you?

one of the many things i truly love about this song is how matty healy incorporated the word "surrender" instead of the excessively used and cliche "falling in love". it felt so authentic in a manner that one would risk to knock down their fortresses for that person and it's simply enchanting.

  • @KeiferSalle

It sounds like a mix of medicine and robbers, with shoegaze-y guitars, muddy bass, and percussions creating a dreamy and nostalgic environment. Befitting of a song that talks about remembering and forgetting.

It was like the universe was crying with me at that time, all the pain, frustrations and disappointments ran into my mind and I couldn’t help but mourn that day. This song came along and it saved me, made me think about the good memories and focused on that instead of playing back all the betrayal they did. Until now, I’m here. Wtf can't some things just never change, like you say we all crave that coming some and comforting feeling, I don't understand this world.

@@bubbles1978 I listen to both of their music and have suspected their love and connection for a while. She just confirmed it with TTPD. Taylor sings about Matty in *dozens* of her songs in the past decade, not just this one.
      Let's look at lyrics:
      "Big reputation, big reputation
You and me, we got big reputations, ah
You and me, we'd be a big conversation." (Joe was a nobody. Exactly zero reputation. Matty is the one with the reputation. And yah, she & MH were a BIG conversation when they finally went public last spring)
"You so dope, don't overdose." (MH had a drug problem years ago)
"I got a bad boy persona, that's what they like
You love it, I love it too 'cause you my type.
Knew her when I was young
Reconnected when we were little bit older."(they were on and off over the years). She refers to the same, "rekindled flames," in Loss Of My Life, another song about him.
"We tried to forget it, but we just couldn't."

In my head, this song is tied to breads.
My boyfriend and I used to call each other "loaf". On the day of our 3rd anniversary, he passed away.
This song would occasionally repeat over and over in my head whenever I went to bakeries or even passed by the pastry aisle in grocery stores, as if a loaf of bread contained the life we had.
It made me think about how there are other people as well who carries a piece of late loved ones or someone who was once in their life that they couldn't put down because it doesn't belong anywhere else but with them.

you are the sweetest, most worthy, and deserving of red gardenias and it's meaning.
the beauty you hold is as divine as it is alluring

    I know a place
It's somewhere I go when I need to remember your face
We get married in our heads
Something to do while we try to recall how we met
    [Chorus: Matty Healy]
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten
    About you?
    [Verse 2: Matty Healy]
    You and I were alive
With nothing to do I could lay and just look in your eyes
    Wait and pretend
Hold on and hope that we'll find our way back in the end
    [Chorus: Matty Healy]
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten
    About you?
Do you think I havе forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I havе forgotten
    About you?
    [Bridge: Carly Holt, Matty Healy]
There was something about you that now I can't remember
It's the same damn thing that made my heart surrender
And I'll miss you on a train
I'll miss you in the morning
I never know what to think about
    I think about you
    About you
    [Outro: Matty Healy]
Do you think I have forgotten about you?

About You by The 1975 is such a sentimental and heartbreaking way of remembering past people. realization hits us that we are never bound to forget. no matter how much we want to completely erase memories of people, we couldn’t help but to remember them in all ways. they remain on everything-even and most especially on the ones that are in need of loving and caring. they leave a part of their existence within us, making it harder to get rid of them. by that, we truly are a shared fragment of other people. maybe, no matter how terrible things were between us and them, we couldn’t help but to always have them. they will always shelter a space in our hearts and minds as wounds, scratches, and grief to forever live with. This song is such a bittersweet feeling. You can listen to all the melodies balance each other out so soothingly. The sweetness is so comforting. It feels so familiar, like a place you’ve never been to before but you know it’s out there. So close, yet so far. Someone is probably listening to this and feel the same thing, we live in such a small place that is made up with big thoughts.
This might seem a bit over the top haha, but I’m just saying the truth.
    I love it a lot!!
If someone does feel this same thing as me though, I’m glad to know I’m not alone, and that you share these same thoughts with me.

They never fail to create music that makes you FEEL the pain, happiness, sorrow etc they are evoking in their songs. This song literally sends shivers down my spine and gives me goosebumps. Amazing work of art 👏

This song reminds me of a girl that became my dream, a dream I will probably never let go of. I have done everything I ever could for her, and if I could do anything more I would in a heartbeat. Most people would call me stupid for it, but I had my reasons for it and nothing is going to change that. She is on my mind nearly at every moment of the day, and even if everyone around me tells me to move on I won't, I will never forget her no matter what happens in life.

I hate to accept that I can relate to this. But the way "she" made her way in my life was by accident and I tried to keep her in my life without hope is just enough to make ones heart break. But she seems happy. Maybe we can be too one day. Even if it is not with the person we dream of right now.

This song gives me reassurance that no matter how far apart we may become in life, we'll always find our way back to each other in the end 🥹💙

I feel like this would be the perfect theme for a movie were the main couple used to be together when they were young but broke up, but fell back in love with each other later in life

“Do you think I have forgotten?”
Sometimes I wish he could know how my heart still aches for him and how my eyes refuse to stop letting these tears drop everytime I catch a glimpse of us in my mind, in every thing that reminds me of who we used to be and how in love we’ve been. No, I haven’t forgotten about you. And if it wasn’t meant to be in this lifetime, I’ll see you in the next one, where hopefully, I won’t have to beg for you to stay. Where you’ll stay because you love me as much as I love you. ‘Till then, “I’ll miss you on a train, I’ll miss you in the morning”, I’ll continue to miss you.

    Lyrics:
    [Verse 1: Matty Healy]
    I know a place
It's somewhere I go when I need to remember your face
We get married in our heads
Something to do while we try to recall how we met
    [Chorus: Matty Healy]
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten
    About you?
    [Verse 2: Matty Healy]
You and I (Don't let go)
    We're alive (Don't let go)
With nothing to do I could lay and just look in your eyes
    Wait (Don't let go)
    And pretend (Don't let go)
Hold on and hope that we'll find our way back in the end
    [Chorus: Matty Healy]
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I havе forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten
    About you?
Do you think I havе forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten?
Do you think I have forgotten
    About you?
    [Bridge: Carly Holt, Matty Healy]
There was something about you that now I can't remember
It's the same damn thing that made my heart surrender
And I'll miss you on a train
I'll miss you in the morning
I never know what to think about
    I think about you
    About you
    [Outro: Matty Healy]
Do you think I have forgotten about you?
    About you
    About you
    About you
Do you think I have forgotten about you?
    About you
