  • I love spam but we found this Tulip pork luncheon meat and bacon grill and decided to fry them up and see if the cheaper luncheon meat and bacon grill are tastier than the dearer spam. We also fried up some corned beef as well to see what it tasted like.

Try cubing the spam. If you can get it, cook chicken rice a roni according to the package directions. When you add the water pour in 1 can of corn including the liquid and put the cubed spam in at the same time. Cover and cook as directed on the box of rice a roni. Its a great one pot family meal. I promise baby Frank will love it. I made it for my daughters now we make it for our granddaughters. We call it spam and rice. Cheap, easy, delicious.

Never been a fan of spam (I think the greasy spam fritters at school was what did it for me) however, I got into bacon grill when I was in the RAF. Water in the pan for fried eggs is an old trick, so long as the rest of the stuff in there doesn't end up steamed. which I doubt as it's supposed to be added right at the very end. Good to be reminded of these little wrinkles passed down from years ago..👍

A big shout for SPAM as regards taste, we like Bacon Grill and there's no denying the value for money.
Spam is getting ridiculously expensive but it's taste and flavour has never been replicated in our minds so we eat it as a 'treat' these days. Another great video folks.x

The best bacon grill was plumrose, you can't get it these days, the next best one is by Dane king, which also made plumrose. It's far nicer than spam. What's the difference in the ingredients?

I've been a vegetarian for 3 years now with no regrets. But when I did eat meat I stayed away from these tinned meats because regardless of how you cook them or even if you eat them cold with salad or a sarni they are absolutely carcinogenic especially at our age I'm afraid. Not trying to scare me anyone but that type of food is only fit for using as fish bait. In my opinion

    • @butlersempire

Spam has been around since the 1937.

    • @justkidding9751

@@butlersempire unfortunately that is no reflection on the current ingredients and that the new science in the manufacture of these foods has proven they are carcinogenic and the level of this toxicity is increased when heated. If I went on a carnival diet I would stick to grass fed meats and nothing processed. People need to switch on to what they put in their bodies as manufacturers can't be trusted the same way big pharma can't be trusted. But you enjoy yourselves I'm just making you aware, what people do with that information is up to them but awareness is key. You only have to look at the increase in cancers over the past 50 years to realise it's not just environmental toxins or big pharma that is contributing to the new cancer pandemic. My brother died last year and it stated on the autopsy report that his bladder cancer was caused by long term use of Beta blockers, nothing big pharma makes has no side effects and it's all deliberate. You enjoy the choices you make and good for you but people still need to be made aware of the reality of these food choices based on your own personal understanding that helps make informed choices. Spam may have been around for over 100 years but it doesn't make it safe I'm afraid. Enjoy

There's carbs in this one so not for you guys but your loyal troups might be interested. Farmhouse Grill/Farmers Breakfast. 'Eggy Mess' - you pick your own name!
Cube a small tin of bacon grill, chill it first to make cutting easier. Cubes need to be about half an inch or so.. Then dice a well drained can of tinned potatoes - whatever size suits your appetite - medium is probably best. Chop a medium onion. And cook!
Fry the bacon grill in its own fat if possible, otherwise add a touch of light cooking oil to help it along - in a medium to large frying pan. Then add the onion before the bacon grill goes too brown - remove bacon grill before adding the onion for now if you wish. Cook the onion then add the cubed tinned potatoes. Again, cubed to less than 1" - possibly half and inch or a bit less. Add more oil if needed, but just enough to keep it from sticking.
Once all that is golden, add the bacon grill cubes back in and heat it all right through if you took them out - stirring as you go. Beat three or four - plus one or two more more eggs if you like as this will stretch to feed four people i reckon - a slosh of milk, plus a shaking of salt and pepper together and pour it into the pan on top of the cooked stuff. Keep stirring then switch to a spatula or egg slice to keep moving the mixture around and to keep it from over browning on the bottom.
Partway through you ought to be able to flip one half over the other to make a delicious enclosed Farmhouse Omelette. Otherwise, just keep stirring the browned bit in and call it 'eggy mess' as we did at school. Serve with bread and butter.

@@mickevs If you have a suitable pan, it can be finished off in a hot oven - so it's not unlike a Spanish omelette as you say.
