Ok, I just want to say I ADORE the framing of the soundcheck/recorded Interview over the costume build montage---for some reason it feels really grounded and cozy, and adds a level of authenticity I wasn't expecting. Would love to see this spin again for any future character videos!
Plot twist: the mailman is the lycanthrope AND Penelope’s biological dad. The other guy is on a quest to cure his friend’s lycanthropy. (It’s just a good thing the full moon doesn’t shine very bright in the under dark.)
I love the flavoring of her Barbarian rage as blackouts rather than a honed sense. Really gives her that super powered evil side kinda vibe, which I love. It reminds of when I played my Tiefling Shadow Sorcerer and whenever he used Sorcery Points, his veins turned black and his emotions dulled. A constant reminder of where his power came from
That is cool! I have a barbarian, who is of the small races and she instead of rage she is just a little too excited to fight and reckless is just her being a little over exuberant with the thrill of the battle. Very happy go lucky that does have to be held back from time to time. Thankfully she honorable and prefers a fair fight. Its a fun flavor! I also have a sorcerer to play one day who’s source aberration. When she has full spell slots she will be jittery and unable to focus or sit still as the alien power doesn’t mix well with her. Once she uses half her spell slots she becomes calm, reasonable, thoughtful and caring.
I always love the "rage" as being described as something other than "I get super mad and hit things harder" Could see it also being described as the barb retreats into their mind, becoming disjointed to a degree from their body, which would explain their ability to shrug off most damage easily.
My wife watches YT second-hand through me, but I wanted you to know that YOU gave her the courage to step up and DM after having only played for 8 years. Thank you!
"Francis should touch grass" God I love your videos so much, they're really cool and always fun. Thanks for bringing a smile to all our faces while still showing us your cool characters or informing us about cool new D&D things
so many things i love about this 💜 - the backstory/interview voiceover while making the costume & getting ready was really nice - "Kinda like you dad did." "What? No!" makes me wonder more about Penelope's feelings towards her dad leaving and whether or not this comment might weigh on her. - FRANCIS!!! :D - Penelope's mission to basically rid herself of her barbarian class makes me wonder about actually making such a mechanic (if it doesn't exist already, that is). depending on the type of game you wanna play, such a mechanic could be helpful to like test out multi-classing without the firm commitment, or be used in a sinister threatening manner with some BBEG threatening to strip away the groups' powers
i mean, she could technically come to peace with her ability to rage, learning to harness it as a tool. Maybe she meets a monk or a cleric that helps her dealing with her rage, as a mentor. Maybe she even picks up a piece or two
Penelope is both adorable and badass. I love the iconic concept of the munchkin berserker. I would be interested in more about your character creation process as well as a POV video and some campaign stories. Also, I follow you and Jesse on Twitter. Can attest to Jesse, indeed, being awesome.
Okay, hear me out a cover of girls just wanna have fun, but ogres just wanna have fun It works cause the lyrics to the original are "oh girls" so you wouldn't even have to add an extra syllable! Love your videos by the way, and this one is so awesome too! Incredible job, love the character!
My gosh, I love this sweet little farmer! Her design is solid, voice is awesome, backstory is- *insert chefs kiss* I definitely would like to see more of her.
The music changing at the line "well... the echoes of screams" against the visual of a cute outfit being crafted was a curveball that hit harder than it should've
There's just something I love about tiny and small melee pcs. I've been wanting to make a halfling paladin for a while now. A gnome barbarian is arguably even better.
Like a fantasy mod home. Small on the outside and Huge on the inside. This character reminds of that puppy in every litter that wants to play when all the others just want a nap. She gets tossed off and snapped at but always tries again. I always enjoy your work. May your adventures bring you joy. Thanks for the fun.
Wow this is amazing! She seems very innocent which is so terrifying when she flips the switch. I’d love to get a look into her character sheet, but I’d also love to hear some tales from Penelope about some of her adventures!
Love it! I also have a gnome barbarian. She wanted to be a paladin with the Order of the Protectors of the Small, but she got kicked out of the academy. If you ask them, it was because she couldn't control her temper, but if you ask her, it's because they're a bunch of snobs who only let people from noble houses graduate. (They're both right.) Anyhow, all that time spent working in her clan's copper mines and at their forges means she packs quite a wallop! 😄
I loved the bits showing the crafting of the costume. And the makeup application stuff. This is a great character and I loved the style in how you presented her. Amazing work as always.
Enjoyed the character concept, costuming, and I dare say, Penelope is one who I would have watch my back than take me out at the kneecaps. Excellent video!
That was amazing! It was so great working with you Ginny, and the end result was better than I could have imagined. I'm especially impressed with the make up. I was so fun to see the hood with the crystals in real life.
I was mostly listening to your backstory but found myself more caught up in the work you were doing. When you said "once I'm safe"....total gut punch; was not prepared for that. Thank you. Love the character look and backstory.
I'm loving this character. Sweet, kind, and violently protective of friends. Nothing beats a kind-hearted, rage filled barbarian. Also, your eyeshadow looks amazing!
This is why I love D&D I too made a gnome barbarian and he could not be more different than Penelope .He is older than most of the adventuring party and is very grumpy and serious. In combat he is the tank and out of combat he is almost like a babysitter trying to keep everyone out of trouble.
I do that a lot too. Overly kind and happy characters written by me are sometimes the young and naive sort, but often are in their 30s and 40s and have had quite sad life experiences.
Penelope is so cute and fierce and I want to smoosh and protect her forever. I'd love to see her respond to some of the other POV but I think a fun little "Day in the Life of" vlog-style POV might be fun? Like a POV vlog of what she does during down time during the campaign? She seems so sweet! Thank you for sharing her with us!!
Please tell me more about her PLEASE. I would absolutely watch more videos about her exploits and adventures because she is just so cute. You know someone's a great actor when your brain actually thinks them as a different person when in character, and I love it so much. Cute little gnome murder machine? Yes please.
I don't remember if it was Liam or Taliesin who said it, but well adjusted commoners don't become adventurers. Tordek: "Hey, Jerry, wanna leave your new spouse and your successful business to go pick fights with vampires?" Jerry "Yeah, no. F*k off." 😅
My friend’s Air Genasi sorcerer came from a loving home with both parents. He set out to go see the world after his coming-of-age. Then he got tangled up in an adventuring party on the mission for the king and decided it looked exciting.

NOT going back to the Motherland, my cousins at Evermeet told me to keep paddling, and Elturel is too happy-sunshine. I heard it wasn't so bad here." Second group of adventurers meeting him a hundred years later, asks him why he's here. "I was told the desert air here would be good for my health." "There's no desert here." "I was misinformed." A century later, he's lived through three cycles because he's not above abandoning his party if it looks like a wipe, and has noticed the pattern. "Why are you helping us?" "Sheer boredom, mostly."
I love this so much! You mentioned more stuff with Penelope? How about all of it? I would be happy with anything featuring her. She is a delight and I can't wait to see what you come up with.
She’s so adorable! Would love to see her at the healer’s or any other reaction videos. I really dig this interview style to, stories from her perspective would be fun also :)
OMG, Penelope is just the cutest! I dig cute little characters that have secretly scary powers. Case in point, my forest gnome pact of the archfey warlock. I think Penelope and my Ylowyse would be good friends, lol. (One day I shall cosplay as her.) I also dig barbarians that aren't just large, muscle-bound lunks.
Penelope may be feral, but she is also adorable. Rage that is discovered by defending a friend is sweet. But so potent that it scares people, that's sad. I'd like to know more about her and her friends in the Town Council. Also, A+ on the custom. Even though you show us the creation process and the make-up, the final result is startlingly effective.
I absolutely love how you introduce her as if it was an interview while also doing the clothing creation. It’s so cool to see. It’s such a great way to introduce and get to know characters Edited to add: I absolutely love her. She’s such a great character, and barbarian is such an interesting class for her. I love her lil shoutout
"once i fix this" that hits home with my main character Darb he's a half orc raised by humans off to find his mother and having to deal with his own inner demons and people's distrust of orcs. He has at least a level in barbarian but will focus on being a bard "music calms the savage beast" and he does like to make music, and he wants to prove to everyone (even/especially) he's not a monster, and maybe prove himself to be a hero.
I really liked this format of of character introduction. It was fun watching you make the costume/outfit with the character narrative (in her own words) in the background. Both kept me equally entertained. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Penelope: her history and her adventures both and how she grows and if she should interact in some way with some of your other characters, all the better! Thank you for sharing. :)
I loved this one 😍😍😍 I wanna learn more about her story. You did such a great job for this cosplay ! and you impersonate her so well that I nearly forgot it was you playing her !! Congrats !! 🔥
You are so gifted - thank you so much for posting this. I love how you had her talk while making the clothing - so much fun! Can't wait to see more - I would love to hear stories from her game!!
Omg Ginny, I literally just found your channel a month ago while I was doing a research towards my first dnd campaign ever. Turns out, I fell in love in your channel more than I thought I would.. You have everything I could have asked for, role playing, character creation tips, cosplaying, make up, product reviews, and now SEWING AS WELL?? I didn't know you made your own costume, Ginny I adore you so much!! Big hug. P.S. my fave video is the one with your high school story with blue make up kkkkk
That cosplay and acting was on point! She really comes alive as a very believable character. Excellent video as always, but this was especially impressive to me
This might be a bit left field and probably a lot of work for a "one off", but it would be cool to hear more stories of Penelope and have them animated (or even some still frame type things). Or even act out small scenes. Would love to hear of her exploits, and having some visuals to it just works great for a video. Understandable if this is a "hard no", as it could be a ton of work. But at the very least, definitely more stories from the sessions.
I always thought about somewhat similar, a former U(nderdark)F(ighting)C(lub) Member - melee Build, Fight Club-References all over spiced with Stereotype UFC-Puns. But this is so much more awesome.
I like that your backstory has the inciting incident for her rage. I too played a barbarian as a PTSD sufferer who left his tribe after deciding that he wasn't safe to be around. It gave some great roleplay with his best friend, a Redemption Paladin who used his Calm Emotions ability to help him deal with his trauma and rages.
As a person who purposefully picked to be a pink haired female gnome warrior main tank in WoW, I approve of your newest character! The thought of something so little being a legitimate threat while still being adorable on a normal basis amuses me greatly! Her aesthetic is amazing! Love all the purples!
Ah! This brings back memories. My very first dnd character was a gnome barbarian for 3.5 edition… Lampwick the Invincible. To this day, still the best character I’ve ever played! Little in stature, but an indomitable spirit. 😂
You had me at "vegan tavern". Penelope seems wonderful!! You did a great job with all of this, from the character, to the outfit and makeup, and just her mannerisms. I love all of it!
I have been playing a deep gnome barbarian named Cupcake, for awhile now. She was suppose to be just a one time character for a one shot. I loved playing Cupcake so much, I have been playing her in my husband's campaign. The rest of the party has nicknamed Cupcake, "The Bloodthirsty Toddler".
I heard huge cat with too many legs and smiled. Was talking with my niece this morning about my favorite D&D monster. Loved the story and the trip down making your costume. Beautiful.
Yes! A gnome barbarian! 🙌🏼 Mine is a rock gnome and she has a bubbly personality. But when she rages she is feral 😂 Edit to add: I...absolutely...LOVE her 😍😆❤️
She's adorable. I would protect her with her life. Given the mention of claws, I'm assuming she's using the Path of the Beast, which is a personal favorite. Out of curiosity, since she seems to fear the actions she takes when she rages, how does she feel about people who take those same action while fully in control of their actions? People who are violent by choice, that sort of thing. Do they scare her? Disgust her? Fascinate her?
Love this. I like how you described what the rage would feel/look like. I've played Benson from Regat Show as a wild magic barbarian. When he enters a rage, his dome turns red and he starts screaming and threatens to fire everyone.
There's some classes, like barbarian, that normally I have very little desire to play. Nothing like seeing what people online do with the classes to get me to open my mind to them. Penelope is adorable and seems very fun to play. I'd love to see more videos about her/with you playing her!
All of your suggestions of things to hear from Penelope sound great! I especially like the idea of PoV responses or campaign stories, but I'd watch a character sheet video too.
I love her!! I would love to see any content you decide to feature her in! all of the ideas you suggested at the end sound amazing!! I would love to hear more about her relationships with the other party members and the stories of their adventures together!! thank you so much for all your content! it really is top-tier and I love all the detail you put in ^-^
That. Was. Adorable! I've started thinking a lot more about outfits in my current campaign which has a bit more of a focus on survival, perhaps because of your influence too. I'm playing a sea elf who spent the last century among humans, in a huge city set in a tropical climate. I figured she probably prefers loose white clothing and shoes when she's spending time in the upper city, to protect her from the heat and avoid attracting attention, but wears a form-fitting dark sharkskin armor with shorts and no footwear when she goes out for a swim at night or ventures in sketchier parts of town. She's going to have quite a shock when she goes to a region with snow!

“As a person who is both small and angry”
This is a mood
Yes, Absolutely, DEFINITYLY!
Reminds me of the half king rogue from TOOTS.
Edit: spelling
Penelope looks very blue to me. That means she cannot be a gnome. She's a pictsie.
Being 6'2, I find that this sums up pretty much everyone I know from my perspective...
@@andrewanderson6849 smurf?
Sure, big half orc barbarians are scary, but a tiny angry gnome that can tear your face off is terrifying.
Kind of like the difference between a mastiff and a cat. The cat may be underestimated, but if he can jump in your face and claw you it's over XD
I cannot remember whose video it was, but there was a barbarian character who was a short angry grandmother.
It might have been a Puffin Forest video?
The smallest cup is the first to pour over.
My wife plays an 11-year old forest gnome rogue. She’s got a very similar mischievous, bubbly persona… but when she sneak attacks you… *chef’s kiss*
Yeah, a large barbarian will sometimes throw you entirely across a room. Smaller ones will throw you one piece at a time.
Ok, I just want to say I ADORE the framing of the soundcheck/recorded Interview over the costume build montage---for some reason it feels really grounded and cozy, and adds a level of authenticity I wasn't expecting. Would love to see this spin again for any future character videos!
Agreed!
Oh yes exactly that! It was a delight to watch! And my gods she's so _cute_ I can't even
Agreed! I think that was a great way to introduce Penelope while showing her working on the costume.
Same! I would definitely like to see more character videos done with this framing
Oh, that wide eyed look when the interviewer asked if she left like her dad did damn near broke my heart.
did she try to make me cry?

The pink tongue freaked me out though. Seemed so wrong

Yes please to all of your suggestions for more about Penelope! I absolutely adore her.
"once i fix this"
that hits home with my main character
Darb
he's a half orc raised by humans off to find his mother and having to deal with his own inner demons and people's distrust of orcs. He has at least a level in barbarian but will focus on being a bard "music calms the savage beast" and he does like to make music, and he wants to prove to everyone (even/especially) he's not a monster, and maybe prove himself to be a hero.
Yes, I would love to see Penelope react to your POV roleplay videos, and I'd also love to know what her moral alignment is
☝Yes, this! I don't know which video I would enjoy seeing her react to most, but it would be a blast no matter which!
My god, your character is so cute and adorable! I love how she's a protective barbarian, but looks like we need to protect her as much as possible!
As usual, this is awesome! Great character design and awesome backstory. Always an inspiration Ginny!
Not to be dramatic, but I would die for this gnome
Omg Ginny, I literally just found your channel a month ago while I was doing a research towards my first dnd campaign ever. Turns out, I fell in love in your channel more than I thought I would.. You have everything I could have asked for, role playing, character creation tips, cosplaying, make up, product reviews, and now SEWING AS WELL?? I didn't know you made your own costume, Ginny I adore you so much!! Big hug. P.S. my fave video is the one with your high school story with blue make up kkkkk
She’s so cute! I loved the documentary style q&a! What’s her subclass?
Path of the Beast!
"So you left, like your father?"
That's a hook.
I want to hear all about every adventure of Penelope!
Shoulder-deep in a displacer beast... now that's quite the visual.
Also, I'm really looking forward to this year's calendar!
That part reminded me of the book in Skyrim that describes someone’s first kill. They likewise went absolutely feral on it, not knowing when to stop
Taking something way further than it’s need to be take is definitely also my MO 😂
She's so cute!!! I'd love to hear tales of her adventures its always fun to hear about someone's campaign! Amazing as always!!!
Story time with Penelope? I'm ready! 🥳
I'd love to watch more with Penelope. She's absolutely adorable. I'm now rooting for her to feel confident enough to be able to go home.
Hey, I have that shirt! We’re shirt buddies!
That transition to Penelope... Amazing!!!! Ginny, you are so very talented and entertaining. I really enjoy all you do.
Finally get to meet Penelope!!!!
I'd love to get more of Penelope! An interaction with the character building questions would be fun, but I'm always excited for D&D stories.
We need a photoshoot of her around oversized furnitures! Rage!!
You had me at "vegan tavern".
Penelope seems wonderful!! You did a great job with all of this, from the character, to the outfit and makeup, and just her mannerisms. I love all of it!
A deep gnome ? !
She is tiny... but fierce!
But when she rages she is feral 😂
Edit to add: I...absolutely...LOVE her 😍😆❤️
She's adorable.
I love the costume design for her! And the makeup makes her look so adorable. Stories from her game would be really fun!
Oh man, I would LOVE to see Penelope respond to your POV RP videos! I love those.
Lovely cosplay! I'd love to hear more of Penelope's campaign stories!
Ough gotta love a brutal barbarian backstory :] rage is such a fun ability to flavor and theme
2:41 I have that same iron. I got it with a vacuum cleaner. Seeing how excited I got seeing an iron is another reminder I'm old.....
