Wow, at first I was just interested in the cartoon shredder and not interested in the arcade shredder, but after seeing your video. Now I’m interested in arcade Shredder because of his cool accessories that you can put on classic Shredder. Sure the pixel armor would be a turn off, but the detail and accessories are still cool to turtles in time shredder. It’s amazing
I know I keep spamming the comment section lol, but I also bought the SDCC 8-pack. I got lucky with ordering it on day two of three when it was up. My Turtles like so many had wonky pupils, and NECA was awesome enough to send me replacement heads/necks...and that was like 6 months after the fact when I found out they did that. You're definitely a fellow very passionate Ninja Turtles fan. It's killin' me with not being able to get Traag & Granitor. I've gotten incredibly lucky with the Target near me. Getting all the recent exclusives the day of the street date via an awesome knowledgeable employee that grabs them for me from the back. If they were ever put out on the shelves, I'd never stand a chance. Not to mention some employees and NECA vendors are just selling them straight up on eBay. I really hope not finding this set isn't gonna be a trend with all the amazing ones coming out soon. Trying to get help on Instagram with someone that can help me out with the rock dudes. I've helped out a few other collectors with the previous ones, so please universe bring some good karma my way lol.
Haha I don’t mind the spamming! I really wish I would have known that you could get replacement heads from Neca back then. All four of my turtles pupils are off. There’s also some glue or something around my Raph’s head. I just got a replacement head for my Snarling Lion-O head from Super7 because he had a paint scuff on his chin. They were very good about it and I got it in about 4 days. I’ve been checking the target app everyday to see if anything has been updated for traag and granitor at any of my stores, but so far no luck. Neca announced on the 2nd that target would have them on the site that day, but I haven’t seen it up yet. I’m dying to get it too. I always wanted Granitor as a kid and I like the cartoon look of Traag. I was able to find Casey and metal head at my local targets, but I live on the east coast so it would be like 3-4 weeks after everyone else got them. I also had to have the workers get them from the back. Leather head/Slash and April I got lucky and got them on targets website. Walmart has been awful. I only found Casey because I bugged the workers there for 2 months and one of them hid it for me. Of course when he told me he kept one for me it was after I preordered from Neca. I felt guilty so I bought it, thanked him, and then 2 days later returned it to a different Walmart so he wouldn’t know.
NECA's not a company that's know for a hell of a lot of reuse (like Marvel Legends), but at least it's not so blatantly obvious with the Turtles. Like how they're using a lot of the same parts for the big characters that came from Bebop & Rocksteady. Doing those overlay torso pieces is definitely clever. It'd be amazing if every character was 100% accurate (like if Bebop & Rocksteady were a lot smaller and Casey was a lot larger to match the cartoon), but I absolutely understand they have to cut molding costs where they can to keep the characters rolling in and the prices down.
The overlays are a great idea. They tricked me for a long time because I figured they were all different. Speaking of big guys, I can’t wait to get the triceratons. I didn’t remember the yellow and green one from the dark turtle episode, but now that Neca brought them to my attention I can’t wait to get them. The green one especially. I think bebop and rocksteady have got the same thing going on as leather head. They should be a little shorter, but a lot bulkier to be cartoon accurate. I don’t mind though, because they still look great. The face sculpts really sell it for me with those guys. I had the playmates “toon” b and r, but they were completely off. I kind of liked them, but I ended up selling them. Now I wish I would have kept them so I could talk about them haha.
Same thing with me, that original toy was ridiculous looking. I know their explanation on The Toys That Made Us was that Shredder's a tall guy, so they had to crouch them down to fit on the blister....uhhhhh. Then the whole shirtless look, which wasn't accurate to anything. I did end up getting the Playmates Super Shredder after the fact. The best one available at that point, but not amazing for sure. I have the NECA Mirage Turtles, but like a dumbass didn't just go a head and pay the extra $75 or whatever on eBay to get the NYCC villain set. Same situation with not getting that Loot Crate one. Seriously if they could just reissue all those comic figures and sell them however they can, a hundred thousand would be purchased within the first day. Or better yet get the master license from Playmates. Go over their heads to Nickelodeon/Viacom. 100% of their revenue from Turtles is coming from NECA lol. Playmates doesn't do jack shit except collect paychecks and fuck us collectors over.
I hope they do a mirage line after they wrap up the movies. That should almost be finished. We just need April and Tatsu. I’m curious to see what playmates does next. They really need to step up their game. They were so amazing back in the day. Tmnt was probably the best toy line ever. All they have on deck now is that “toon” set with mirage colors. I plan on passing on them.
With you mentioning Anthony modifying the arcade one's helmet, that's why it really pays off (to go on eBay for example) to look at other copies. You don't even have to watch other reviews to see if your copy has an issue, or if that's the norm. Everything I buy, I'm always doing the research to see if mine have more QC issues than most. It'll drive me crazy when I get bad copies of figures I really love...then end up ordering several more in the hopes I get a decent one.
I'm only a minute into the video, but really hoping you'll go over the cartoon accurate improvements they made on this new arcade one. All the reviews I've seen on it, they haven't noticed that the new forearms/gauntlets and shin guards are cartoon accurate. I mean I really love their cartoon one (overall my favourite), but reusing the Mirage comic ones forearms and calfs always kinda irked me. First thing I noticed back then was: Hey, you're supposed to see Shredder's skin through the gauntlets. Hopefully they'll do a re-re-release on them with the accurate updates.
I didn’t think about it, but I wish I noticed now that you mention it! Maybe in the future they’ll have ultimates figures of the guys and give us arcade leather head, slash, and shredder with toon colors. I think Slash would sell especially well. I’m going to try and put up a video for him soon. This year is like the year of the turtle haha. So many great things all at once! I got lucky in March and bought a huge 80s/90s lot off of someone locally so I may start reviewing them too. So many vehicles I didn’t remember at all. Like the Don’s Kookie Carnival Car.
I couldn't agree more with you. In spite of being the videogame version, in many departments it's more cartoon accurate than the "cartoon" version. Forget about the colors and the paint scheme, ignore the pixel art and the fewer but bigger spikes, and it's really cartoon accurate. At least, in connection with the gauntlets and shin guards.
I hope NECA comes out with a video game variant of their Super Shredder figure in the style of the SNES version of TMNT: Turtles in Time where Super Shredder was the final boss.
@@razrentals8897 I'd say same size as the other Secret of the Ooze figures. So basically, it's the same Super Shredder figure, just repainted in a 16-bit style like the other video game figures.
That’d be great! There’s supposed to be a new Shredder in a Walmart exclusive pinball loot crate, but I think the small picture they revealed looks like he’ll be a video game version. We’ll see.
