Good job man. I used to clean my amps and cables with armour all... Next time I will try cleaning them with a mix of simple green and Murphy's soap oil with a small soft brush. Armour all is sticky, messy and it doesn't stay shinny very long. Thanks for the video.
Very good video. Thank you for posting. I am going to be selling a 69 Fender Champ silver face soon. Good condition but needs a little cleaning. Glad I found your video.
I just got a 78 from ebay an hour ago. hope to have it by the end of next week. can't wait to start cleaning it up and may look into what it takes to change the tolex, a few rips here and there. but all in due time.
Clapton’s champ was actually the tweed 5F1 ones from the late 50s . These silverface are still cool. I’d do a cap job and remove the death cap and 3-prong cord for safety
i had a mixer for which it was too hard to get inside to the back of the scratchy pots. just spraying deoxit from the front (between knob and the metal post), twisting, and making sure it seeped in worked very well. i had scratchy guitar pots, and a tube preamp that got moisture in storage as well. it worked wonders.
Yep contact cleaners work well and extend the life of the pots for a few years. However when it gets scratchy again, replacing the pot breathes new life into it!
Ahhh! Very nice amp! Sounds Organic! I wonder what' kind of capacitor they use on that one. I got a plexi-amp and couple of other amps completely modified by SoZo Amplification , John Gaynor. It all sounds Fantastic! but your Silverface champ is a different beast! I love it bro! have fun with it. Do some recording, and let us hear what it sounds. Thank you.
Awesome video! I've got to clean 22 pots on my Laney TF400 and it seems danting... Great tip on the Armourall wipes The geek in me wants to know what overdrive you were using... (guess Ibanez TS 9) God bless and keep the videos coming
sir perf im already 35 years old. im really fan alternative opm 90s. do you think i can still learn how to play guitarr!? haha i dont really dont where to start? im really wanted go to guitar school but the thing is i only see kids and teens. its like im out place hahaha.
idol perf! pa request naman pa ako sa next video niyo. tutorial po sana or kahit guitar cover lang po nung sinasabi ni rico blanco na richie kotzen style sa 2nd verse ng 214. Salamat po! sana makita niyo po ito! Merry Christmas! Godbless po😁
Sir may tanong lng ako qng paano ung ginagawa ni paul gilbert ung nka headset cya tpos may tunog pa sa loud speaker ano kylangan gwin o gmitin sa gnon.? Tnx..
Minor gripe. I think that’s mid/late 70s Champ. The Fender grill logo is different on the earlier ones. Looks a lot like my ‘78. Circuit is also the same as Blackface Champs, unlike some other 70s Fenders.
Hmmmmm... Just going by what my buddy told me. I may dig some more. I did find the inside of the chassis really clean so it may have been already modded
The cabs on the early ones are pine and fairly light. The later ones are made of mdf and a bit heavier. Here’s a serial number reference, also. www.superiormusic.com/page195.htm
I'd like to compliment you what with the fact that you don't insist on saving three seconds [lol] using a DRILL to remove the screws. My god, even my favorite techs do this obsessively. Just to save three seconds time. I watch them spin the bit in the bolts/screws, and cringe every time. These are vintage relics, flolks!
There's nothing more irritating than a scratchy knob! By the way Jimmy page used the fender champ to record the lead guitar on most of the first 4 albums!
@@OfficialPerfectoDeCastro Andy johns who produced led zep 3 and 4 said they used a fender champ with 2 close and 2 distant Mike's to record most of Jimmy pages solos.
thank YOU for sharing....my tolex cleaned up "like a champ"....uh...a twin, that is. Really appreciate you sharing your know-how!
so satisfying cleaning under the handle
I just did exactly that a few hours ago.. hit my marshall amp and jackson guitar pots, woohoo.. holiday cleaning indeed for us.. keep on rockin'..

Never can fail with a Champ. I had a ‘72 before this one & missed it so much, I bought this one. Phenomenal amplifiers.
Good catch, just check the serial and it dates to 1978. Oh well, I’ll change the title but can’t change the video lol
Perfecto De Castro Still a great amp.
