- Join me as I check out this very well traveled Universal Studios built Kitt Promotional car that narrowly escaped the crusher!! And proving the "6 degree's of separation" theory it has a connection back to Mrs Kiwi from 40 years ago !! Who knew???

Cool as!
I don't remember seeing kitt as a kid, but I did get a photo in the General Lee when it toured NZ when I was about 3. "Me and the General Lee" still have the pic! 👍
Funnily enough I think I have a photograph of myself sitting in that car at a Winter Show in Whangarei when I was around 6 years old
Pretty wild ain't it...
Same in Invercargill . And I am in the world's fastest Indian too one of the bike's
Fantastic. What a legend.
Indeed!!😁👍😎
Nice one!
Thanks again for taking us along with you to some pretty cool cars and people! I will never be able to head to Aussie land (although I would love to!) so I can only follow your travels. Tell your friends it was -40F a few days back here in Manitoba, Canada! A bit colder than we like.
Dang that's cold!! Glad you enjoyed it !!
@ you have to experience it as its impossible to imagine that temperature.
He in New Zealand not aussie thats like saying your in the US when your standing in Cuba.
Safe travels back Kiwi!
Cheers mate!!
Very cool! I'm a bit jealous of the beautiful weather there. Lol. There's a strong cold front headed this way. 🥶 I'm heading back down to Vero Beach next Sunday.....escape the Georgia cold! 😂
I've just got back, not exactly a warm welcome......😂🤣
Noice Kiwi have a GREAT holiday Mate.
I guess that's the one I have a photo in back in the day
I remember in 1988 we went on a holiday from Melbourne to Brisbane for a festival type attraction called World Expo 88 and there was a Kitt car on display, I wonder if this was the one.
Almost definitely I'd say 😎👍😁
Re the Govt wanting the car shipped back or destroyed. I used to work for Fords back then and was involved in arranging the import of sample and specialty vehicles for VIP visits etc. You could avoid the extremely heavy import duties and taxes if you agreed to export or destroy after a certain time period. I personally witnessed (along with Customs officers) the crushing and burial of several cars and loads of parts at the Seaview assembly plant. Some of those were prototypes that would now be historically significant and very valuable. We were also able to reclaim import duties and similarly scrapped surplus production parts which were also destroyed
Yeah the government wanted their pound of flesh !!
Didn't realise the KITT car had ever come to Oz, but I do remember getting my picture on one of the Mad Max cars (MM2, I believe - it had the two big tanks in the boot, and an old oil pan bolted to the inside of the passenger door for Dog to sit in.
Very cool !!!
👌🏼⛽️🍻
🥃👏🏻
The one thing I remember about the show is they never had real music on it. They would have current popular music, but not the real version, it would be a cover band. Plus, I was a Dukes fan (I was 7 or 8 when Dukes came on the air), not of Knight Rider.
At least Hasselhoff wasn't singing them😬😂
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍 : That is so cool Kiwi ! So because of the mods it can not be road legal ? And the states 🇺🇸 full of BS go’s around the world. Still if the owner is happy owning the car congratulations.
It would need to be modified to bring it to road legal .
Dash is only for show no rear tail lights and maybe other things that stop it being road legal here .
The value is its a genuine kit show car though not actually used in the production modified for road use would decrease its value .
Kiwi did say the guy also has a replica that is very good road legal copy of the original that he drives around.
Intrusion bars etc etc, the list is long😉
It's more the fact that it should have been sent back to the U.S. or crushed. The government has a long memory....
Hey Kiwi,
Tim here.......just LOVE the car.......I understand the love of the car.......I understand ur mate's T-shirt......Pontiac Trans-Am........but it was all corporate then......no REAL Poncho motors anymore......my T-shirt wudda said "Pontiac Catalina Super Duty"..........circa 1962......THATS when we had REAL Poncho power........LOVED the vid..... TY!!.......loyal sub'r signing off.....PEACE to you my brother!!😊
Crazy to think how awesome that front light and steering wheel was in the 80s. Now it seems like a joke with todays tech. Then gov tech is probably lightyears away from what we all are allowed to know.
Simpler times back then..😎😎
I thought (from the title) this car was assembled from a kit. Very interesting..cool car. I gather it is still not street legal in New Zeeland?
The car that was jumped on the show was actually a VW dune buggy with a "rubber" Trans Am body over it.
un real that car still is in 1 piece 'kit and the 'Batmobile was a genuine Barris car toured round all the malls a&p shows etc my cousin was employed as Robbin full time what happend to the Batmobile?
Go sit in the car kiwi he's only charging you half price. Maybe a dealer license plate would allow him to drive car on the street.. kiwi make a video with your family too.
That might work🤔
