Do these respond to women drivers - such that they go appreciably faster when *she* drives? Like the throttle has three extra notches, for a total of Eleven? A top speed some twenty miles an hour faster? (This has become part of my current rough drafts.)
Not too important but when you said Gulf, Mobile and Ohio I couldn't help but hear the way you pronounced Mobile. It's pronounced "Moh-beel" though. Awesome video, I recently rode this train as of yesterday.
You are absolutely correct on the pronunciation. Whenever I speak of the town, that is the way I say it. At the same, I've always heard the GM&O pronounced with the incorrect version - how I said it in the video...I just chalked it up to one of the oddities of the American dialect.
Sony ZV-1. Still haven't decided if I would recommend it or not. The images and sound are great, but I started having issues with it shutting down randomly during filming, which is challenging for what I'm doing with it.
It appears the new Chargers are being employed around the system. I think Amtrak's only gotten a handful of them delivered so far, so the vast majority of trains outside the NE corridor will still be powered by P42s right now.
@@nolantherailfan5048 I have noticed that. Keep in mind the average age of the Genesis units has to be 25-30 years old. While Amtrak has clearly done well maintaining them, they are not spring chickens.
It does sound that way, lol. The train hadn't occupied that first crossing, so they had to sound the crossing warning for that first little move. When they pull out, they have about four more crossings in rapid succession that you're hearing them sound for.
Love the Chargers, great horn on 307.
City of New Orleans to & from Chicago via Memphis. What a trip for my 85 year old bucket list last year.
Congratulations!
Awesome! Hope to do more “training” myself in the future. Perhaps north to Seattle?
I love this new Amtrak Siemens Charger Deisel Locomotive and the new horn 📯 on it also too right now
Great video! Glad to see another railfaner near me!
I was on that train from Chicago! You can see me get off the 2nd sleeper with the orange shirt on! It was a good trip with the new LOCO!
What a coincidence! Glad you had a great trip, and that I accidentally gave you one more thing to remember it by!
Excellent Video!!!
Thanks!
Cool video.
Thanks!
Love ya Video!!!!
Thanks!
2:11 Jeez, are the horns on the Chargers really that overblown? No wonder they sound so out of tune.
I saw a Amtrak Siemens just 2 days ago in Hammond la departing

I love the horn
I think they have nice new square tag K5LAs.
They brought back the square tags?!? I love those!!!
Nice horn. Little hard to the ear up close😊

They gotta get those ditch lights programmed to flash better together. It looks very strange how they turn on and off, not smooth!
I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out! I agree they need to adjust the on/off timing a bit.
What camera did you buy?

So wait these trains entered service on the city of New Orleans now

Have you noticed that genesis locomotives have lots of cracks and dents on them. That means those locomotives are really showing their age

@@lego-scale very true since they are still in operating condition
The engineer sure is announcing his presence here.

Is he - she? - (justifiably) paranoid? Had trouble in this area before?
I am not ready for them to take over the P42 Sunset Limited service
Agreed (Not to be rude)
Luckily for you they're not gonna be on the Sunset Limited for a while
The German economy thanks us lol
